My 12 yo son and I stayed there as a special treat to ourselves before Christmas. It was only one night but we arrived cold and tired after a day of intense visiting around in Dublin. We were warmly welcomed and offered to add breakfast for two at a reduced price (14 euro) instead than the normal 19 euro per person. We accepted and after paying we were upgraded to a room in the new aisle of the castle, the modern one. Every area of the castle has a special charme and its beauty was at the top with the Christmas decorations. The room was gorgeous, on top floor, with fridge, bathrobes and high quality toiletries, both bathtub and shower. Everything worked perfectly and the view was magic, the room beautiful and sparkling clean. The morning after we enjoyed a great buffet breakfast with large variety and top ingredients, ranging from smoking salmon and Irish cheeses to a traditional Irish breakfast with sausages and eggs. It is hard to explain the magic of this hotel. You have to try. Important for you to know: we took a taxi from the hotel to Dublin airport and realized that they are not very closed. Consider a good 25 min ride and about 30-35 euro.

From our arrival to our departure Clontarf castle certainly proved to be a class act and undoubtedly one of the best mini breaks we have availed of. The concierge, front of house staff, maitre d, dining room staff all proved to be top of their individual fields always being courteous and helpful nothing was a bother for any of them and always carrying out their duties with a pleasant willingness. Also I would also like to mention the cleaning staff as they also keep this hotel spotless which is no mean feat considering the vast amount of glass and unusual artefacts and spaces they cover. Our room was extremely well cleaned and staff were very discreet and unimposing. Overall the management in this hotel has a lot to be proud of as all their staff are exemplary. Looking forward to our next stay.

Awesome hotel few issues which marred it a little. Upon arrival it was stunning and the weather was great. Staff were so friendly and helpful we got the free upgrade as they had an upgrade on for half the price we paid I questioned it and they offered us it for free. Had food in knights bar just wings and burgers but OMG best burger I’ve ever had and the chips were lovely also. We they asked for breakfast to be delivered to our room which was grand but we had to ring nearly 45 mins after the set time for it to arrive and you could tell they forgot the food was dried out and not nice at all. We then set about our day to come home to find the tray still in our room 8 hours later although we did request it to be removed. Thankfully the night manager was great help offered 20% off our room and a free bottle of wine so we’ll chuffed with how he handled it. The area around clontarf is superb stunning houses lovely locals a great walk also along the water and some nice little local shops. Don’t get taxis they will vary between ten and 20 euro depending what driver it is and bus is just outside it and come every 15 mins. Well deff be staying again as we do Dublin once or twice a year

We are lucky to be in a position to travel extensively and also own and operate hotels, so like to think we are pragmatic and fair people.

When we were on the road we booked two rooms, one standard double room @ 119 euros and one executive double room @ 179 euros. When we checked in we asked if we could have ground floor rooms and we were told this was not a problem.

We got to our room and we were firstly not impressed with the cleanliness of the room at all. My wife said to me this does not look like the Executive room, so we looked at the other room and found that they were both the same.

I called reception and questioned them about this and was told that this was in fact the case. I asked we booked and were charge for an executive room and he said they were on the 4th floor and they were smaller, but if i wanted to look at one he would show me, i said yes please.

On viewing the executive room he was in fact correct, it was smaller than the standard room, which was a little perplexing in my book!!

Anyway i said to him that why was i charged a different rate of which he could not provide an answer to, but i asked ho if he would sort this out, which he said he would.

We also noticed the pillows do not have protectors on them which in our opinion is a hygiene issue.

For what you pay to stay at this property we would have expected more to be honest and in turn are a little disappointed we chose to stay here.

I booked this trip to celebrate my Husband's 65th birthday.
On arrival at the hotel we were informed that due to Covid-19 our room would not be serviced during our stay (surely guests should be informed of this when booking) but if we needed extra towels to request these from reception.
We requested towels the following morning. On our return to the hotel that evening we discovered the towels had not been delivered to the room. We again requested towels and toilet rolls on the second morning, yet again they were not delivered!

We only had a hot breakfast on the last morning. The waitress was setting tables and did not approach us to take our order. After waiting for a while we called her over to ask if we could order breakfast. 20 minutes later our food had not arrived and we again called the waitress who then asked what we had ordered despite having written it down. She went off to the kitchen and came back to inform us the Chef was very busy!! but our food would be ready in five minutes. After waiting a further ten minutes we informed another member of staff we had now been waiting for thirty minutes for our food. He went to the kitchen and came back with the waitress who had taken our order, she then asked to confirm our order for the third time!!
When our food eventually arrived my Husband who had ordered sausages and bacon was given one sausage and one slice of bacon!! One slice of toast is served per person!
Guests at every table in the area we were seated all had problems with their breakfast. We had noticed this on the previous two mornings also.

On checkout my Husband and I requested to speak with the Duty Manager. When we informed him of the issues we had during our stay he put it all down to Covid-19. He had an excuse for each issue and made no apology. He did give us 20% discount on our stay and told us to book directly with him for our next stay and he would arrange something special for us. Whilst my Husband and I appreciate this an apology would have meant so much more.

My Husband and I stayed at the Clanard Court Hotel in Athy, County Kildare last month. Everything went smoothly and efficiently. The rooms were serviced daily, food is amazing, and the staff are very friendly. We have stayed there many times and have never had any problems.

What should have been a special
celebration of my Husband's birthday turned out to be a disappointment.

We have stayed at Clontarf Castle several times in the past and always had a positive experience. Despite it being a beautiful hotel I'm not sure we will return due to the very poor service we received on this stay.

Despite Clontarf Castle being a beautiful hotel I'm not sure we will return

We had occasion to stay at Clontarf Castle Hotel on two occasions Nov ‘20...essential business. Our experience ,from initial telephone booking to second departure was excellent. Our allocated rooms were simply gorgeous & offered every attention to comfort & detail. A minor problem with the heating system was dealt with within minutes. The level of comfort & space were second to none. Guest amenities in the beautiful bathrooms were of the highest quality. Cleanliness & compliance to Covid 19 regulations were followed impeccably. The common areas, Bar, Restaurant ,Restrooms & of course, the bedrooms we occupied were spotlessly clean & fresh. We ate Dinner in the bar on both occasions.. the Menu was limited in comparison to previous visits but the food was delicious, the quiet ambience relaxing & the staff most attentive. The Breakfasts we enjoyed in the Fahrenheit Restaurant was faultless .. the beautifully meticulously laid out cold Buffet ( totally compliant to Covid regs) was delicious,of particular note the lovely chilled fresh fruit. The hot food was presented freshly cooked & steaming hot . Coffee was the best ever & the brown toast has to be mentioned for its quality.
From every aspect we thoroughly enjoyed our stays at Clontarf Castle Hotel & gratefully appreciate the care & consideration from Manager & Staff. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you... may 2021 bring happier times to all.

Such a disappointing stay at Clontarf Castle hotel. There was certainly no Irish welcome at reception, the receptionist was extremely robotic and there was a language barrier which also caused problems. The rooms were tiny, the TV kept freezing. The staff were unfriendly and service overall in the hotel is extremely poor. The entire time we were there the staff barely acknowledged us. The carpets were dirty, the rooms weren't cleaned efficiently before our arrival and our room wasn't serviced the entire time we were there. We ran out of towels, toilet paper, toiletries. I have stayed in other castles around Ireland and this place doesn't hold a candle to them. The staff in the bar were extremely rude and the food was disgusting and over priced. If you want to experience a real castle experience, with good service, friendly staff, value for money, cleanliness then go to Lough Rynn Castle, Kilronan Castke, Belleek Castle or even Ashford castle. Go anywhere but here. I was truly disgusted and well not be returning again, however I will be telling everyone to avoid this place like the plague!!!

My partner and myself stayed at Clontarf Castle for a two night stay with breakfast in July. To say we enjoyed ourselves is an understatement. From check-in, to breakfast and dining in Knights Bar, the staff at Clontarf Castle are beyond helpful, friendly and truly welcoming. We had loads of chats with Vijay at reception and he is excellent at his job. Our room was 411 (a Junior Suite) and the décor was stunning! It was the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Breakfast in Fahrenheit was a real treat, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious. We dined in Knights Bar on our second night at the Castle and it was a fabulous experience, we both had the 'Seared Corn-Fed ‘Manor Farm’ Chicken Supreme' and it was divine. We thoroughly enjoyed dessert and our (too many) cocktails. Overall, our stay at Clontarf Castle was exceptional. We felt completely at ease , the hotel's cleanliness was excellent, all staff were wearing masks and they certainly took every precaution to keep their guests safe while also providing a brilliant guest experience. I already cannot wait to visit again. Thanks again to Jason, Ciara, Vijay and the whole Clontarf Castle team for a fabulous stay.

My family stayed at the castle for two nights in August, the stay was amazing with everything being perfect, would certainly recommend a Clontarf to everyone. The bed and breakfast package was such good value and the environment felt very safe with the necessary social distancing measures in place. Definitely my favourite hotel in Dublin.

Sorry I can't help you with regards your visit to Malahide Castle as we didn't visit there. We use a taxi from the airport it was about 25 to 30 euros. If you use the bus from the airport I think you have to go into Dublin centre and then get another bus/taxi out to the hotel. I would recommend the trip from Dublin to the Giant causeway, that takes in the Titanic exhibition. Uts a long day but we lived it.

Yes they do whats called afternoon tea which many people will get with their friends or family, mainly women! Basically you get a selection of food - sandwiches, cakes, treats and of course lots of tea or if you prefer, prosecco! It is a great way to catch up and chit chat over exceptional food. Also something different to try.
