Stayed here for 3 nights in December. As a new hotel the rate was good and the hotel is in a central location. The hotel is modern and clean, but a little too basic for a stay of more than one night. The lobby is very trendy and eclectic with retro art pieces and decor. The room was large, but there are no drawers and no closet so you cannot unpack -at all. The closet is basically a metal trellis against the wall with three hangers on it, so we lived out of our suitcases. There is no safe, no coffee maker and no iron/ironing board. There is an ironing room at the end of each floor. This brand is definitely going after a young demographic, but even younger travelers unpack. Very large room but tiny bathroom and shower. I asked at the front desk for extra pillows (bed only had two), I was told they had ran out, but if they found some they would bring them - never got the pillows. The bed itself was very hard. The hotel is across the river from the main tourist areas but very accessible to the main attractions. Not a bad hotel but very basic. Would hesitate staying there again, based on the lack of basic amenities and am rethinking future Moxy stays based on this experience.

Hi again UKNV, Thanks again for your many review across various platforms - we truly appreciate your time. As mentioned to you in our previous responses, we are sorry that the select service Moxy brand and concept wasn't for you. Fortunately, Dublin City has three alternative Marriott branded Hotels that may suit your needs better should you return. However, these Hotels naturally dictate a higher rate than ourselves as full service Hotels. Also, our location is better in our opinion as just seconds away from both the city's tram lines and bus routes to the airport & minutes walk away from the bus station and Connolly train station. For more information about the concept, brand, room amenities etc please visit our website. There are also photos available for you to check out the feel of the public areas and bedrooms. If you're looking for a traditional hotel with safes, regular wardrobe, desks and tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, we aren't for you unfortunately. If you're looking for somewhere different to crash and to hang out with friendly staff in a VERY laid back and informal environment....we're here for you. Thanks again for your time :) Moxy Crew x

We stayed at the Moxy Marriott last week, when going to the Bord Gais theatre for a show. It is an excellent city centre hotel, and only €10 - €12 taxi to the theatre. It is located just off O’Connell Street and has a modern room layout with no wardrobes, dressers or worktop but there is a mesh system to hang up all clothes on hangers.

We, an elderly couple, were on the 6th floor but this was no problem as there are 2 lifts serving the building. We had a few drinks at the bar after the theatre and unlike most boutique hotels there was an atmosphere in the bar. Breakfast the next morning was a self-service buffet consisting of a choice of fruit juice, cereals, cold meats, cheese, fruit and bacon with scrambled egg and tea or coffee and was not expensive at €14, recommended. Also there was a late check out which suited as some shopping was done on the Friday.

It is very accessible from the Luas with the Marlborough Stop on the Green Line outside the door and the Lower Abbey Street on the Red Line 2 minutes away. We did have a problem checking in, not the hotels fault, but the manager Marco was most helpful in sorting it out and made our stay a very pleasant one. He is a gem who went out of his way to solve the problem and we cannot thank him enough.

Only down was that we like to have a cup of tea in the room and there was no facilities even though hot water could be got it was a long way up to the 6th floor. For theatre people not alone is Bord Gais easily accessible but both the Abbey and Peacock Theatre are across the road. As drama enjoying people we will definitely be back, thank you for a lovely stay.

The hotel is in a really central location, everywhere is really accessible by foot and it’s right next to the Main Street for tour busses.
The staff couldn’t be more friendly, with a free Moxy Cocktail on arrival a nice bonus. Would definitely stay here again!

The front desk staff was great, as well as the price! Cool Vibe and New Hotel. Very Clean.. BUT the rooms have a number of flaws: The windows don't open, so no fresh or cool air. Second the mattresses are as hard as concrete, and last the walls are paper thin or gaps between the rooms at the windows large enough to hear your neighbors quite clearly. Please also note the location is in a rougher part of town, and I would not walk alone there at night. They also lock the door after Midnight, which is an issue because the security guard is slow getting to the door and has a huge attitude.I won't stay there again because I waited twice in the rain while hoping to not get mugged.

Hi ROBERTLOUISSTEVENSON, Thanks for your time. I'll be sure to let the Front Desk team you thought they were great. I'm sorry the Moxy brand isn't for you and there were issues with our room. I hope the Crew could assist when you mentioned these issues while you were here! We always do our best to rectify issues once we have the opportunity to do so. I am sorry that security were slow to open the door at night, I will be sure you pass on your feedback to ensure this does not occur in the future. I am not sure what your basing the evaluation of the area on. We've never experienced any issues and as you know we're smack bang in the middle of town, just off O'Connell Street, the busiest street in the City. Thanks again for your time. Moxy Crew

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and at my age I have stayed in countless places at every price level. The lighting is horrid, every where in the hotel, from the lobby, the only elevator, the halls and the room. The lone elevator, one was labeled as out of order, was slow and wait times happened with each coming and going. The room was tiny, had absolutely no storage, no floor space (especially when opened bags had to be lined up on that space, and a miniature chair that if one sat in could not see over the bed, so was useless. There were 4 hangers on a grated wall, I guess that was the storage. The lighting was limited and what was there was blindingly bright for limited site lines. There was a wall mounted tv. The only thing you could do in the room was sit on the bed. Bed wasn't terribly uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny, the shower miniscule with terrible water temps and pressure. Two large, two small towels provided. Some "soaps" provided in larger containers. Yuck. Nothing else provided or offered. The first floor, lobby is a too grand a word for the space, had awful lighting horrible sound system and a cold, dark bar. There seemed to be a good number of seating areas, I guess for guests to have a place to be since the rooms are so unhospitable. But there was never many people there, either, since it is an uncomfortable space, like a uncared for basement. When we arrived we were offered a welcome drink, served in glass, so that was nice, but the bar was not clean and looking around the table spaces were not clean either. They had food available, placed on wall shelves with black backgrounds. Wouldn't pay money for any of it. We did get two cups of the most expensive coffees we had during our 10 day trip before the cab picked us up. The two staff, one at the bar and one at the registration desk at the bar that we encountered were nice. Otherwise the entire building and experience was cold, drab and unwelcoming. We paid for the room with points, which were too many for what we got. For $38 more a night at the Hyatt Centric we had an actual room with a couch and table, an entrance foyer with closet and drawers, coffee and tea fixings, a huge bath with an incredible shower, a huge comfortable lobby with comfortable seating, actual bar area with ample and varied seating spaces and restaurant that was accommodating for large groups, and a complete hot meal with endless choices each morning (including pots of tea and coffee) of our stay. The location of the Moxy was good enough, that is the best thing it has going for it. Not sure who the place is geared towards, but it is too much for what it is, that is for sure.

Dear jcjcnj. Thanks so much for choosing us and for leaving your thoughts about your visit. We take your comments seriously, and they will be shared with our team. We are aware that the Moxy concept is not a 'traditional hotel' and we strive to be transparent about the Moxy experience online, listing the things that separate us from other hotels. The Moxy bedrooms fearlessly imagined for fun hunters, they include modern bathrooms with walk in showers and they include an environmental friendly wall mounted clothes rack. Our Grab & Go option is very popular to our guests as they can find a selection of snacks, drinks, fruits and yogurts available 24/7. Rest assured that the price of our coffee is in line with the local marker in Dublin city center. We are sad we aren't the right fit; we are, however, confident that the Marriott family has the perfect match for you. Thank you for your business. We wish you the best with all your travels. Kind regards Dimitris Operations Manager Moxy Dublin City

We stayed at the Moxy for a long weekend. It was mainly okay but we stayed using credit card points so didn’t pay cash, I probably would be more annoyed had I spent actual money on it.
Good points
Location is pretty central, around ten minute walk to Trinity College
Mostly friendly staff
Good sound proofing
Room was clean
They let us check in early no questions asked when we were just expecting to put our bags in a room, and they let us use a locker when we checked out for the day for free

Bad points
I said it had good sound proofing, but it needed it- there was loads of building work and drilling going on. Our view was of the fans for the hotel and a building site
The location was quick to walk into Dublin, but the immediate area was a bit grotty. Most tourist attractions are south of the river. Didn’t feel the safest at night
There was no chest of draws in the room, or wardrobe. There was a grid type structure with a couple of hangers but it meant you couldn’t unpack your bag without having stuff strewn over the floor. Even the bedside tables were only a glass plate
The bathroom was very very small, there was about a cm clearance between the sink counter and door
The duvet was incredibly thin, like a summer duvet, we were staying in Dublin in February. We also only had one pillow each, the first night we rang reception and asked for another, after over ten minutes someone knocked and said they only had one spare and couldn’t find any others. We decided to not bother about the duvet and turned the thermostat to max..
The reception desk was at the bar which is fine but it meant you had to wait for someone’s drink to be made before you could check in, for example
The whole decor and vibe was kind of cringey.. felt like a 60 year olds idea of what millennials want, eg a pillow that said ‘treat yo self’ or a DJ on Saturday night playing music in the reception with about ten other people quietly at tables

Hello 247lucyf! Thank you for detailed review in regards to your recent stay at the Moxy Dublin! We enjoyed reading your comments about the location, the staff service and the cleanliness of our rooms, thank you so much!:) However we are sorry to see that you did not enjoy the bar/check in area, we like to keep things fun and spirited and we realize it is not for everyone. We are also sad because your experience with us was less than awesome due to excessive noise. Although we don't have the traditional hotel bedrooms we are glad you still enjoyed a number of the areas that Moxy Dublin has to offer. We hope you will come back soon. Our party of three friends spent a total of 4 nights in three different triple rooms during our week in Dublin. The location of this hotel was perfect for us....an easy walk from the Aircoach stop on Upper Connolly St, the Connelly train station, the day tour bus stops, Trinity College/St. Stephens Green areas, Temple Bar area, restaurants, pubs, and shopping. All Dublin hotels seem a bit pricey (especially on weekend nights) and this one was a bit higher than other similar caliber hotels, but the location did help make it a better value. The decor and vibe is modern and fun, definitely targeted at a younger customer. There is a big bar which is also the front desk, the breakfast area, and the lobby. There is a fun, large variety of seating around the bar and they have games to play. Everyone gets a free welcome cocktail, which was sweet and tasty, but not sure it actually had much gin in it. All the staff we talked with were courteous and friendly - arranging a taxi to airport, answering questions, storing our luggage, making lunch recommendations, etc. The rooms were not large, but everything was modern, clean, and functional. There is a hairdryer, TV, and there was a small hot pot for coffee/tea. No safe, no wardrobe or drawers, no fridge. There are some hangers that you can use to hang a few clothes on the grate wall, but otherwise you are living out of your suitcase without much room on the floor. The three twin beds were comfortable, though they were on wheels so you had to be a bit careful when you sat down. Linens were good quality and there was always lots of hot water and good water pressure. Two of the wall plates had USB outlets (it was puzzling why they all did not have a USB) and there were several different light switches that we were always trying to keep straight. Note that they will store your luggage for a few hours before or after your stay, but luggage cannot be stored overnight. Breakfast is not included, but we thought €9 per person was reasonable for the convenient buffet (started at 7:30) which had scrambled eggs, black bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, assorted hot and cold cereals, assorted breads/pastries, as well as juices and hot drinks. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel, just wish the triple rooms were a bit larger and had more USB ports.

This "hotel" was incredibly expensive but felt like a frugal hostel. It was clean and the staff was very nice, I will say that but everything else was substandard, not worth the price and shouldn't be associated with the Marriot brand.

The shower design was so poor (a wheel chair accessible one that we didn't request) that there was no proper drainage so 2/3 of the bathroom floor was a pond after a very quick shower, not safe for anyone. My travel companion couldn't take a shower after that because the floors were too slick & dangerous. The soap dispenser didn't work and there was no bar soap - in the time of covid. The shampoo/body wash combo & conditioner were cheap, and there was not a single shelf or hook in the bathroom for any clothes or toiletries. No sight of lotion, a kettle, coffee maker, safe box, iron, dresser, wastebasket in the bedroom, a suitable luggage rack, a closet (you were supposed to hang anything on a wire wall hanging) or any other basic amenities that one would expect for a hotel that was over $250USD for a single night. The beds were hard, there was only on pillow per bed.
Upon check in we received two vouchers for a complimentary "signature cocktail". In the bar they have a list of "signature cocktails" but I was told they could only be used on the house cocktail. Supposedly there was vodka in it, but it was nothing more than a very watered down, gatorade tasting "cocktail". It's best not to offer vouchers at all if that's what guests will receive.

Stayed in the hotel last night as a getaway with my girlfriend, the hotel was so modern and hip, the bar staff couldn’t have been of more help on a busy Saturday night. The room was so spacious which came as a surprise because of the hotels location as I’ve stayed in different hotels around the city centre and the rooms have been very cramped. Will definitely be back to stay again in the near future

Modern style hotel with quirky details. We stayed 1 night in a double room, with en-suite. Room was spotless, big with fabulous lighting and underbed lighting. Wall rack with hangers for clothing ( no shelf for case, underwear etc ). Bathroom was sufficient with toilet, sick and shower however water was either to hot or to cold couldn’t get a balance. Shower gel, shampoo conditioner etc provided including hairdryer ( short spring wire with no plugs near mirrors ). Corridors were spotless as well as bar/dining. Cocktail on arrival was a nice detail and such a refreshing drink, drink moderately priced and presented well. Storage lockers provided with no extra charge which was a nice detail. Will defiantly be returning for the price we paid for a city centre stay. ( Cannot comment on food as we didn’t have breakfast/dinner as we had bookings elsewhere )
