The rooms are comfortable and well priced, Patrick and Regina are wonderful hosts. The breakfasts have a menu so you can choose what fits your palate and the food is wonderful. Walking distance to Blarney Castle and the local pub.

I stay here every time I'm in Ireland because I enjoy it so much.

My family of four (2 adults and two teens) just returned from 5 days at The White House B & B in Blarney, County Cork, Ireland. All I can say is "Wow!"

While doing research for our trip, we read review upon review of various hotels and B & Bs in Ireland. Most commented on how small the room sizes were (especially the family rooms for four people), the unreliable plumbing and lack of facilities.

When we came across the website for The White House[----], we were cautiously optimistic that we had found a hidden gem. There was only one photo of the property on the website, so we felt we were taking a bit of a leap of faith.

We were not disappointed. This beautiful home is in a prime location, overlooking Blarney Castle. You can literally walk into Blarney village to shop, eat or tour the castle.

The house sits up above the main street into town and the noise from the street is minimal. Our room was at the back of the house and we did not hear a PEEP at all from either other guests or the street. Be aware that in the summer, it stays light until 10:30 at night and the sun is up again bright and early at 5 a.m.!!

The home itself is gorgeous, beautifully appointed with modern decor and facilities. Our family room for four was more than adequate in size. We had a double bed for the adults and each teen had their own twin bed across the room. The room included a private bathroom with spacious shower. There was always plenty of hot water and fresh towels each day for four people. I have included several of our photos of this property.

I believe there are 5-6 guestrooms (ours was Room # 5), a comfortable living room/common area with reading materials and a terrific dining room for the morning meal, which is served anytime between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

The hosts, Patrick and Regina Couglin are just a joy. Their warm hospitality, gracious assistance in planning day trips and the full Irish breakfast each morning were stellar. Pat was particularly helpful with local road maps, shortcuts and bus tour information.

The cost for our family suite for 5 days, 4 nights was 400 Euro total; very affordable for the comfort of these accomodations and the huge daily breakfast.

There are numerous restaurants in town, as well as an ATM, launderette and post office. There is one functioning internet cafe in town, which was imperative for us, as we own our own business and needed to stay connected to our customers. There is no internet connection or WiFi at the B & B.

Of course one of the main highlights of our stay was the tour of Blarney Castle and the obligatory kissing of the Blarney Stone. Be prepared for a rather treacherous climb to the top of a centuries-old castle, much of which is in disrepair. Warning signs are posted at the entrance to the dangers and they were not kidding! I didn't count the actual steps up the narrow, spiral, stone staircase (with twisted rope bannister), but I'm guessing it was about 200. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a spectacular view of Blarney village and of course, you can kiss the stone. Only a donation is recommended and they will take your picture which they will later try to sell you for about 10 Euro a piece.

Blarney Woolen Mills is located right near the castle and if you can't find what you're looking for there, you won't find it anywhere. There are other Blarney Woolen Mills in other parts of Ireland, but this one is the biggest. Great for china, glass, woolen wear, T-shirts, jewelry, music, ornaments, pottery, food gifts...really just about everything.

We took easy drives to Queenstown, a fascinating little town with 3 names (and Titanic's last port of call before that fateful night), the town of Mallow and the quaint fishing village of Kinsale. With Blarney as our home base, these were easy little jaunts.

The only thing we did that we might not do again is a bus tour around the Ring of Kerry. It's beautiful scenery, to be sure, but it was 12 hours on a hot, packed, less-than-luxurious tour bus. Afterwards, we were wishing that we had spent the day at Bunratty Castle near the Shannon airport (about a 2 hour drive from Blarney).

Southern Ireland is gorgeous and not to be missed. I cannot recommend this B & B highly enough. While we were visiting, Patrick mentioned that it was a very busy season (Summer of 2006) and he was having to turn away 20-30 inquiries for a room each day...so be sure to book early!!

10 -12 March 2012. If you are traveling to Ireland, stay at the White House B&B in Blarney.

Location: This B&B is located literally only a few minutes walk from Blarney Village and Blarney Castle so we didn't have to move the car once we parked it at the B&B. Additionally, the location suited us because we decided to use it as a base for a few days to visit other locations like Cork and Kinsale and it is easy to get in and out.

Parking: On-site and secure

Facilities: This is a beautiful home with great landscaping. An extra bonus is the view. From the front of the house we get an amazing view of Blarney Castle and at night it was great to sit out front relax and look at the Castle lit up. The entire home is immaculate. Our room was spacious and it was great coming back after walking in the 35-45 degree temp ( While we were there) to a toasty room.. At night we would slide into the comfortable bed and sleep like babies. Not only because we were tired from all the walking but also because the bed was so comfortable and the comforter and pillows appeared to be new or very well kept. Also the room was supplied with a Kettle, cups, spoons, and an assortment of Coffee/teas and biscuits. We were also impressed with the fresh/clean smell of the house which for us added to the ambiance of what we expected of Ireland.

Breakfast: I love the Irish Breakfast and was offered the choice of how I wanted my eggs (poached, fried, or scrambled) plus bacon, sausage, toast, brown bread, (jam, butter) orange juice, coffee, tea. My wife ordered Pat's famous pancakes and although she is not a big eater, left nothing on her plate and honestly the presentation of the meals were great.. They also offered fresh fruit and cereals but we stayed with the hot meals. Pat and Regina were very attentive and made sure your coffee cup was full or fill your orange juice glass.

Hosts: Pat and Regina are awesome!!! We came in early and they didn't hesitate at all about letting us check in early. They also recommended great places to eat, the best routes to travel, and even spent time just talking to us. While we were there I watched both bend over backwards to make sure visitors knew how to get somewhere or even call and reserve a room at a B&B for the next step of their trip. If we needed them to ask a question about anything they were always available. Pat and Regina are a class act and have such great personalities that you can't help but feel like you have known them all your life and that they do care about you and welcomed.

Summary: We have visited Ireland every year for the past five. We have stayed in approximately 30 B&Bs and none in our opinion match Pat and Regina and the White House B&B.

We stayed one night at the White House Bed and Breakfast! It was our first experience in a Bed & Breakfast in Ireland! What a wonderful experience! Pat and Regina were very welcoming and gave us directions and suggestions for dinner! The B&B is well located and you can walk to the Castle and downtown! It is a very attractive home with beautiful landscaping! The rooms are large and well appointed! You have your own bathroom and amenities are provided! Fresh bottle of water in the room was great! Breakfast was superb! We had the full Irish breakfast and my husband had the pancakes which he said were absolutely delicious! We left after our breakfast and forgot a carry-on bag! They emailed us to let us know but we were too far into our trip to return! They have been very gracious about finding a way to return our belongings! It is in the mail now ! Thank you! Pat and Regina are great hosts and we recommend this B&B! Go ahead book you won't regret it

We were booked in to The Ashcroft B+B but were moved to The White House B+B due to unforeseen circumstances. It turned out to be an excellent move for us. Good food, good accommodation, good hosts and could not have been more comfortable if we had been at home. Blarney is a great base from which to explore the southern regions of Ireland and Pat, the owner of The White House, was an invaluable source of information.. We fell in love with the whole region and are busy planning our next trip.
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend.

I last visited the White House in 1989, kept the business card, and revisited with friends in August 2012. Pat and Regina still own this wonderful home and still provide the most complete and gracious service and are very very accomodating. The breakfasts are special and superb, the location is a 15 minute walk to Blarney and the castle, the rooms and bathrooms are extra large and very tidy and comfortable. I absolutely love this place and hope we can return and visit with Regina and Pat before another 23 years has passed, but please stay here if you're anywhere near Cork!! We did not want to leave; among the very very best experiences you can have in a B&B Ireland -- or anywhere.

We are so pleased with our stay at The White House in Blarney. We felt right at home. Our Family room was clean, quiet, spacious and very comfortable. The B & B is within walking distance to Blarney Castle, shopping and several choices for dinner. The owner was extremely helpful suggesting a restaurant, letting us know the weather report for the next step of our journey and very importantly - calling to find tire replacement options for our rental car so we had a plan and piece of mind. Breakfast was wonderful. We highly recommend!!!

The rooms were clean and quite large with very comfortable beds. Regina and Pat were most welcoming and very helpful on the area. Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of options. There was plenty of room to park the car and walking distance to Blarney Castle and also the local pubs and Blarney Mill. A great place to stay.

Loved our stay here. Pat was tremendously helpful in giving advice concerning the next day's itinerary, which worked our great, giving us the ability to experience Kenmare, which was a gem, and a partial route of the Ring of Kerry on our way to Killarney. Thank you for that Pat, it worked out wonderfully ! Muskerry Arms was a yummie dinner recommendation ( hint-look for posted specials on chalkboard before going in)
