Everything just as I wanted. Very characterful hotel with windy corridors, random staircases, antique fittings etc. Dining room has to be seen - amazing space that you can well imagine holding Balls and Select Concerts in. All modern facilites are there too. The bedroom - with 4 poster bed - was perfectly appointed with all you would need - and spotless as was everything in the hotel. The staff were 100% friendly, warm and helpful. Great value for money. I will certainly be back asap.
Our daughters wedding was 13th August and including guests we booked 13 standard rooms ranging from 1 - 3 night stays and had no complaints. Friends who had booked 1 night said they wished they’d booked 2 as staff were lovely and attentive. All staff far exceeded our expectations and big shout out to Gordon and Kyle who worked tirelessly to ensure all went smoothly. Bar/ waiting / cleaning staff were cheerful and helpful especially when we got lost a couple of times in the quaint corridors lol. All rooms were clean and equipped with kettle/tea/coffee/biscuits/ in cupboard under tv. There was a fan on the dressing table and a hairdryer in the drawer and plenty coat hangers and a stand for your bag/ suitcase. The help yourself buffet breakfast is second to none and had so much choice you could never go hungry. Tea and coffee pots are brought to your table. Perfect! 15 of us had a bar meal/drinks the night before the wedding and everyone enjoyed their food alongside the relaxed atmosphere. Following horrendous thunder and lightning out with The Salutations control there was extensive damage to a few rooms and this was attended to immediately as best they could alongside continuing to remain available to guests. We were there when this happened and it didn’t interfere with our break at all. So much so my husband and I have booked a 2 night stay this week to chill out. There was huge flooding all over the UK that weekend. This is the oldest hotel in Perth, which is why we love it and are looking forward to our return visit. We have stayed in other hotels in Perth over the years and The Salutation is our favourite.…
I recently decided to have a last minute weekend break in Perth, my first since the lockdown. The famous Salutation Hotel were offering great value accommodation and I booked, requesting a quiet, top floor room. Receptionist Fiona kindly ensured that I was allocated a suitable room which endured that I had an enjoyable stay. Thanks to Fiona and Team Sally, I'll be back before long.
We booked the New Year Festive package of a 3 night stay. Yes, the hotel is looking a bit dated and yes some work needs to be done to rectify the paint work inside and out but that adds to the charm and the Sally would not look right if turned into an ultra modern hotel. The staff are helpful, polite and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. During our stay the food was fantastic, not just the evening meals but all breakfasts, lunches and snacks in between. Entertainment for the weekend was also great although I think on the last night it would have been nice to have some singing too (as advertised). Hopefully we will be coming back next year.
I stayed here 8 January following a business trip. Negatives first - accommodation a wee bit 80’s. But positives… fantastic location, big warm welcome , fantastic tasty bar meals and lovely staff. If it was good enough for Bonnie Prince Charlie, it’s good enough for me. Thanks so much
The people in the room next door could be heard, the shower screen came off the rails, the shower head could not be moved to suit. The door lock was very temperamental. The hotel is shabby and in need of a refurb. This is supposed to be a top hotel but is more like a shabby guest house. The breakfast was less than average. For the money one would expect proper butcher sausage and bacon not supermarket stuff, and why the dumpling was mashed up is beyond me. Altogether not worth the money. The windows in the dining room are also draughty and our room had a great view of the opposite side of the building same as before.
Just been to the Christmas party night here with an overnight stay. I've given it 4/5 but would have given 5/5 had my room been a bit bigger - the room was quite small, nice nevertheless. The party night was excellent - brilliant service, especially from Kyle who was outstanding! The room for the party was lovely, nicely decorated and was a decent size. Big dancefloor and the tables and seats weren't all squashed together. Food was delicious and really nicely presented. Well done all staff, would definitely recommend here and would definitely return. Thank you
Thus is a sad hotel that appears to have had better times . It is understaffed and seems lacking in direction - there were very few aspects to celebrate Christmas or Hogmanay! The rooms were acceptable - the black mould on my window sill was removed when reported and there were good supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits plus plenty of hot water ! I had to ask for an extra blanket and was also given a fan heater - the radiator was stone cold. The restaurant was cramped and uncomfortable - breakfast was ok, but, the evening meals were all too often cold with over cooked, mushy vegetables. As for the evening entertainment - dire ! The entertainers themselves- particularly the quiz master - seemed as if they would prefer to be elsewhere ! And for Hogmanay, we had hoped to see a piper and listen to the pipes - zilch ! No bar open in the entertainment area - no atmosphere whatsoever ! Such a pity , the hotel really missed so many opportunities to make us welcome - no Happy Hour, no 2 for 1 cocktails, no shortbread, no Merry Christmas or Happy New Year and no Father Christmas - where was he ? Also, no gift shop , not a postcard in sight ! If the hotel does Turkey & Tinsel breaks next year, they really need to think it out and make it more special and Christmassy - duh ! Staff need training and leadership . Good Wetherspoons close by !…
Had a lovely 2 night Winter Prosecco Break here at the weekend. Greeted at reception by staff who were welcoming and friendly. We were happy to be given vouchers for tea and homemade shortbread. We enjoyed this sitting by the log fire. The area was nicely decorated for Christmas and had a very cosy atmosphere. Our rooms were a decent size and very clean. The en-suite bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished. Lovely soft towels and toiletries provided. The Adam restaurant where we had our meals was busy but the waiting staff were excellent and service was quick. The choice on the dinner menu was very good, we enjoyed all the food we had. A complimentary bottle of Prosecco was most welcome too. Breakfast choice was also good, lots to choose from. We really had a great time here and would definitely return as it was excellent value for the price we paid.…
Stayed at this hotel with a coach trip with Edwards on 21 November for 5 days. Hotel looked OK on the surface. Bathroom looked clean and fresh white towels but only 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels . Toilet paper never replaced, bins never emptied. Carpet looked clean but we had to move the bed to look for a pen . The beds have not been moved or hooved for months if ever. Beds never made. Food in the restaurant was cold served on cold plates until we all complained. We had been there from Monday and by Thursday we had a hot meal on hot plates but come breakfast on Friday it was back to cold food and cold plates. One of the waitress was very rude and abusive when told that the food was cold. On our last evening we arrived back into our bedroom to find a bottle of diet coke was missing. We told reception and they sent up to cans of drink for us thank you for that. Entertainment in the evening was awful. There is a wetherspoons just a minute away so at least we had hot meals there. Perth it self was a very nice place to visit and we always enjoy going to Scotland. So be aware of this hotel .I am sure there are much cleaner hotels there which serve hot tasty food because this hotel doesn't.…
