Located near Glasgow's vibrant West End, the Leonardo Inn Hotel Glasgow West End offers a convenient location praised by guests for its proximity to local attractions. However, the accommodations have drawn criticism for their cleanliness and maintenance, with reports of dirty, cramped rooms and noise disturbances.
While the hotel's amenities are appreciated for their layout and parking availability, opinions on the atmosphere and value are mixed. Guests commend the friendly staff but are divided on the hotel's overall cleanliness and some service aspects.

Detailed Reviews
Firstly, for a hotel in an excellent location, with such modest pricing, plenty cheap parking, its difficult to complain, particularly during the Pandemic.
However, we would have been happy to pay a little more if they addressed some issues which significantly affected the quality of our stay.
1. Get mattress toppers for the king size beds as the join between the two single beds is uncomfortable.
2. Paint the bedrooms.
3. Replace a good number of the baths with walk in showers- a lot of people much prefer a shower and the bathrooms are small.
4. As others have said, the water temperature is unstable, going from warm, to very hot tgen cool.
5. Fix the TV system so that all free to air TV channels are available instead of just a few.
For the price of an overnight stay, points 2, 3 and 5 can be tolerated, but not the unstable water temperature and uncomfortable bed.
The other saving grace of this hotel is the staff. They are truly outstanding.

I've frequented this area since it was called 'Binghams Pond' and consisted of a boating 'lake' and a large, pleasant, wooden building which provided tea, coffee, ice cream cakes etc. Then in the 60's an entrepreneur named Reo Stakis revolutionized the restaurant and hotel facilities throughout Glasgow, which included building the 'Pond Hotel'. Over the years I have visited the 'Pond' on innumerable occasions, however this was my first stay since the Leonardo Group have taken ownership.
I found plus and minus points. The 'down side' consisted of :-
. The introduction of a £5 a day parking charge !
. No longer serve any Scottish beers, only Guinness and various lagers such as Budweisser etc, are on sale.
. You need a knife to open the bath soap as the packaging is so tightly wrapped.
. The toilet flush tales 'some time' to refill.
. No English or French mustard is stocked only Heinz New York Deli mustard.
. I had the 'Steak Pie' special, which was delicious but was served only with potatoes no veg was included.
. The 'back stairway' is badly in need of a new coat of paint.
The positive aspects were:-
. My wife and I both agreed that the food at dinner and at breakfast was very good and an improvement on what was formerly available.
. The hotel was clean throughout.
.The room was good
. The bed was very comfortable
. The staff were excellent
Overall the 'minus points' would not dissuade me from visiting the Pond again, it is a very good hotel and value for money a large BP garage, adjacent to the hote,l which also offers an M&S outlet will also always entice me to stay in the Pond again.

Leonardo is just of Great Western Road about 10 minute journey from Glasgow city centre. Whether shopping, sightseeing, business, visiting or attending Gartnavel or Beatson Hospitals it is an ideal location. The hospitals operate a scheme whereby you can stay at the hotel when attending hospital on a daily basis thus freeing up hospital beds.
It has a large well kept, litter free carpark and overlooks the pond which is pleasant to walk round or sit and watch the various birds to be found in or around it.
There are various restaurants to be found nearby, also fast food and snacks at the hospitals. There is a M&S food outlet attached to the filling station across the car park. The hotel provides a full continental and cooked breakfast, also evening meal with various choices. As with everwhere during covid they sometimes struggle obtaining catering supplies and so the menu is adapted accordingly. Again staffing is difficult but the permanent staff cover working with temporary staff well. Social distancing is maintained so no housekeeping while room is occupied, but replacements can be got from reception, from the trolley or at the door of room. All staff I met were extremely pleasant and helpful and really make this hotel.
The hotel is in need of some modernisation and decor upgrade which is probably due to the fact it is for sale at present. It is a much needed facilite in this area and hopefully a new owner/compny can be found soon, so as to allow it to continue to function.

Booked through hotels.com, received an email prior to arrival from Jurys inn asking to complete online check in which I did, arrived on the Friday at 15:30ish, greeted by receptionist, checked in again! Was told no king size rooms were available due to lack of housekeeping, asked if we could wait in the bar or have a drink whilst we waited for room he said no. Asked if they would hold our luggage was told no. He asked us to come back in half hour. Returned and then all of a sudden multiple king size rooms were available and we were given a choice of front or back view of the hotel.
Hotel corridors quite dated, linen trolleys left outside lift area. Empty bottles of wine and rubbish left outside resident rooms.
Room itself was spacious, basically 2 single bed pushed together for a king size room. Both beds were on wheels, no brakes as the bed moved if you leant against them, also couldn’t lie in middle of the bed due to the crack of the 2 separate beds. Bathroom was very small and basic. Our toilet kept making constant water draining noise after it had been flushed which was a nightmare at night time as it kept you awake. The main light in the bedroom kept flickering constantly in the end we left it off. Also the bathroom had no window or extractor fan, it got extremely hot and steamy in there, ended up leaving the door a jar to let air in. Stayed for 2 nights no bedding was changed or new towels. No door signs such as do not disturb or room needs housekeeping. At check in weren’t informed of bar opening times or check out times etc. No mention if there was any facilities. One thing to be aware of the parking is £5 over night we were never charged this. Ask at reception for a car parking pass and this avoids the daily £5 charge. The car park has enough space for a lot of cars. Decor of the rooms was very out dated, lovely magnolia yellow walls with stains on them. The exterior of the hotel does not look appealing and the rooms as basic and average Inside. Wouldn’t stay here again. Seems an handy if visiting anyone at the hospital opposite but not near much for getting into Glasgow unless going by Uber/taxi.

Responded Aug 25, 2021
Good Morning charlotte e, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, we are glad to hear that you found the room to be spacious and the parking to be free and convenient to you. We are sorry that you were unhappy with the housekeeping service. Unfortunately external factors outside of our control have made it difficult for us to deliver our usual standard of product and service. As you have no doubt become aware, the impact of the pandemic, the shortage of available labour, and faced with supply chain issues continues to present significant challenges for the hospitality industry. As a result of these factors, in this instance, we fell short of our usual cleanliness standards and for this I sincerely apologise. We are working with our housekeeping teams to ensure that this issue does not re-occur and we hope that we can welcome you back to Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels in the near future. Kind Regards Melisa Customer Experience Team

On approach to the hotel it's not much to look at, but it has a large private car park, rates are £5 per day payable st the desk who then give you a pass.
Reception staff are very nice and let us know about the breakfast deal at £11 per person per day which we took, simply gill in your selection sheet and hand into reception.
Firstly you get a continental breakfast bag left at your door consisting of fresh juice, pan chocolat, fresh melon pot and a museli yougart.
The cooked breakfast is served between 7 an 9 AM, pick your time on your selection sheet, you ate greeted and invited to choose where to sit you can also have serve yourself tea, coffee, juice and toast.
The rooms, we found them comfortable, yes the beds are singles pushed together but it's not overly noticeable and means the bed is massive.
The rooms weren't serviced because of Covid, but if we needed ANYTHING we just asked, Dougie is a wee gem, very friendly and a font of local knowledge.
The shower is powerful, my only bugbear, it's in a bath, fine if you have good mobility, complementary toiletries too are provided.
I would highly recommend the Leonardo and would most definitely return.

Getting dated and the facilities are not being cared for. The room was too hot as the heating had been turned right up and when I turned it down I found that the window had a cold draught flowing through constantly. The shower cannot maintain a constant temperature. The staff were all polite and helpful (except the one lady at checkout who was quite abrupt) I did not use the restaurant as the prices were quite inflated at seemingly 50% higher on average than they were when I started using the hotel 4 years ago and not at all in line with the cost of the room. For what should be a good hotel this is average at best.

The hotel is very tired and in need of TLC. Whilst the staff are friendly at reception it was understaffed when we arrived so everyone had to wait rather than a quick check in procedure.
For the size of the hotel it only has two very small lifts. Clearly they don’t expect guests to have much luggage with them.
I was on the first floor located near the lift. This caused no disturbance at all. The disturbance was from night staff either setting up/dismantling the small conference/meeting room next to mine. I didn’t really appreciate this at 0100.
The room in general was dated and whilst clean to a point, it is not good practice to leave water in a kettle between stays. In the room there was a single chair at the dresser, but then a random
Table in the corner. There was also only one bedside table which I found odd.
The bathroom needs a lot of work. Toilet roll holders loose on the wall, floor grouting in need of cleaning and then the shower. Tile grouting needs cleaned extensively. The ceiling needs repaired as cracked and mouldy.
We only had breakfast in the hotel and that was a disappointment. There was a lack of attention by the single member of waiting staff and I observed guests having to wait several minutes to be seated with no one else seated n the dining area. The buffet had clearly been out for hours rather than refreshed and the hot food was cold - and self
Respecting chef knows you need to keep a check on food temperatures. I saw breakfasts being returned as a result.
There is definitely need for improvement and it certainly didn’t justify the cost paid for the room and in all honesty I can’t say that I would return or encourage anyone to stay here

Breakfast choice appalling .Rooms need to be upgraded badly Friday night music blaring from function room didn't mind that too much what was shocking was been awoken at 430 in the morning by the upstairs neighbours shouting then others banging trying to get them to shut up .This went on all morning stopped around 7 as we were getting showered as we had family to say goodbye to ferry to catch and. 5 hour drive after .I received my welcome and leaving text at 845 on my last day after I had checked out.On other note found no individual wrapped toiletries as stated only shared .only saw housekeeping once and she was mask less .Breakfast room girl cleaned table but left spoon from previous customer on it and redressed the table with it where's the infection control procedure there.Bed was ok not sure about the pillows know they should be washable or else have pillow protectors on them especially during these times .Although hotel is ideally placed for transport links I feel next time I will go elsewhere

Good Morning Sc0ttie30, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. Guest satisfaction is our top priority and I wish to apologise sincerely for our shortcomings on the occasion of your recent stay. We are very sorry that you were unhappy with the breakfast and that you were disturbed by the outside noise. This is not the service and accommodation standard that we usually have and your remarks are taken very seriously. We are surprised and sorry to learn that found the Dream mattress and pillows to be uncomfortable as it is something many guests comment on most positively and we can only apologise that this wasn't true in your case. We hope you'll be able to return to a Leonardo or Jurys Inn hotel soon. Kind Regards Wendy Customer Experience Team

Checked in and the girl at reception was lovely. I noticed my room was next door to the elevator so asked if she could switch. She was really helpful and did this quickly.
The room I was put in had a loud knocking (water hammer) from the radiator. Someone had left a sh1te in the toilet, and didnae flush it. The bath looked filthy. Called reception they came checked but had no key to bleed the radiator. Tried to switch it off, also couldn't be done.
After two calls I asked if I could move to one I could sleep in.turns out every room in the hotel suffers from loud water hammer. Nightmare if you plan to sleep. I'm here for work so it's essential.
The car park is chargeable yet private.
As you can see the website has breakfast at a tenner, it's not it's 12.95 you are charged. The breakfast is buffet no facilities to order fresh or off away from the buffet.
No gym or facilities and no disabled to in from what I could see.
I couldn't stay here again as I'm knackered after even one night and have to suffer another.

We stayed here about 3 years ago when it was then Pond Hotel. It seems to have worsened since.
The hotel is approximately a 15 minute drive from the city centre, opposite a petrol station and shop which is very handy. Travel 30 minutes in the opposite way and you are in Loch Lomond. The hotel is at the back of Gartnavel Hospital.
We checked in and immediately advised the reception that the curtain rail in one room has come away from the ceiling. She told us that it would be repaired the next morning but they were not repaired at all. There was a dirty spoon found in one of the rooms we had booked, we informed the reception of this and they told us that they would provide us with new spoons nevermind that there shouldn't have been a dirty spoon in the room in the first place.
The lamp shades were wonky in both rooms. The rooms were not very clean either. As you walk into the room the floor was raised which caused a trip hazard. Wallpapers was peeling off also. The double bed clip at the base was sticking out which I walked into and grazed my ankle as a result. The room also smelled not great.
Some of the staff seemed to be short with us. I didn't opt to have breakfast as £11 each seemed to be extortionate even if I just wanted a slice of toast and coffee. They could have done something for us but chose not to.
If you like the idea of people walking in drunk and without shoes or people swearing at taxi drivers that have just dropped them off then feel free to stay here. I won't be staying here again.
I think that the hotel management should offer us a refund for this stay.

Breakfast is any time between 8 and 11 on a Sunday
Breakfast I'm sure was 8am till 10.30am
Catch a bus to the city from the hospital and that is about 2 pounds and then catch the airport express bus from city centre to airport that was 8 pounds.
Glasgow is a pretty walkable city to walk to the city to do sightseeing. Otherwise you can catch the subway from Byers Road.
"Five pounds per night if you need to park your car The neighbourhood is very nice and you can enjoy a nice walk to the town centre "Read full review
