West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

If you want to live like the locals in a “residence” this is the place for you. We were surprised to find that our “room” was actually more like an apartment. My husband did not realize I had booked a room with a separate living area so he was blown away, but even I was

Booked for two nights over the weekend was given room 8/3. It was the nicest apartment hotel I have been in. The Grand living room was totally beautiful and massive. There was a gorgeous fire. The quality of furnishings was high end luxury. This is the best hotel in Edinburgh, I

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our 3 year anniversary, and although it was pricey, it’s so worth it. We stayed in 6/4 and The apartment was large. There was a long corridor as you go in and a large living room with a cinema room tucked away at the back. As well as an

Is there air conditioning for the summer months?
We had no. Issues with WiFi, although we were not using it a lot of the time as we were out during the day.

I would have thought this place is child friendly. There are no lifts however and you should ask for a lower floor room. It is very accessible to the city and moving with a young child would be easy if staying here.

Dear Wanda H, Thank you for contacting us. There are no washers or dryers in the apartments, but we provide wash and fold laundry service for our guests. On Rothesay place we have 4 townhouses and all the deluxe apartments are located here, on Chester street we have the standard apartments, which are more traditional in design, but gives you the same comfort. The two locations are 2 minute walk away. If you prefer modern design, you should go for the deluxe apartments. Please do let us know if you need further information. Kind regards, Viktoria Toth Reservations and Revenue Executive
