We were due to stay here but were called to say there was a burst pipe in our suite and that we would be moved to a sister hotel, The Scotsman. As we had booked a suite we were given a suite there too. They let us park at The Murrayfield for our whole stay and arranged for a taxi to take us to The Scotsman which being central has no parking. The Murrayfield looks really lovely and we would not hesitate to try and stay there sometime in the future. Just a short taxi or bus ride into Edinburgh and very handy for the zoo. A big thanks to the team for sorting out our stay. A suite in the Scotsman would cost far more than what we had paid so we were very delighted to be given like for like and it is an experience we will treasure.

Has such a great time staying here, enormous room, big double bed, sofa and a bathroom with a shower and the most amazing bath. Everything looked freshly painted and clean. Maids came in everyday and did up the bed and cleaned the bathroom. It felt like a very luxurious stay. We chose Deluxe Double. Restaurant: We also had lunch there the first day (I recommend the vegan fish and chips made with banana blossom). Overall we had lovely service in the restaurant. The waiters are friendly and attentive We had breakfast there every day, hollandaise was spilt one day, and the full English was 2 eggs one day but one the next? However it still filled us up and tasted fine, just a little more consistency would be better. We ordered room service for some Irish coffee, it was a bit cold but still fine. My only big critique is the bed was too firm. I will stay here again, a couple of improvements I suggested above would really help and make it 5/5. Also they need to update the pictures of the website - it’s actually better when you stay.

We visited this venue after a charity walk. Pat was our server who looked after us and made us feel welcome. We had a member who was celiac and Pat was very understanding and made sure the kitchen were aware to ensure the food was spot on. Food was very tasty and presented well

On arrival we couldn’t find a parking space around the back. I went to reception and was told by quite a rude young man that there was spaces in the front car park, had I actually looked? I asked where this car park was and was just pointed out the front door. On checking in with the same receptionist he took ages to deal with us, not very obliging and then seemed to hover in our room, can’t think why. We stayed in the house, a couple of doors down from the hotel. Lovely spacious room with great en-suite. Huge comfy bed. Plenty of extras in the room, e.g. iron, hairdryer, straighteners, but no hair conditioner. It certainly is a room we would rebook. Breakfast is good but the service is extremely slow. Located about a 20 minute walk from town, but has good bus service.

We stayed here for our anniversary and booked a classic double room. The room was quite small as was the bathroom but we only stayed 2 nights so it was fine. I wouldn’t recommend booking a classic double for a longer stay. The room featured an iron but no ironing board which made things difficult. There was also a kettle but to fill this you had use a cup to pour in the water as the sink is so small. The room wasn’t the cleanest, there was visible dust, limescale on the kettle, stains and a used ear bud on the floor which wasn’t the most welcoming. The carpet in the room was lifting in places and the carpet grippers were visible. Upon arrival we were soaked through ( good old Scottish weather) but had to wait around 5-10 minutes for the reception staff to finish their chat with the cleaner before they would actually check us is and show us to our room, there was a slight pause where the reception staff asked us to wait a second whilst they finished talking! The hotel is in a good location and the food and drink in the restaurant was nice. We had to wait 40-50 minutes for our breakfast on the morning of our departure which wasn’t great but it was tasty when it eventually arrived. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening but were told we had to order there and then other wise they couldn’t serve us due to table bookings and then we were charged 10% on our bill as a service charge without even being asked! I don’t think we would stay here again purely based on the fact the service in the hotel and restaurant was poor, we were made to feel like an inconvenience on more than one occasion.
