Unfortunately Travelodge seem to be suffering with the same problem as many other companies - lack of staff! The room was ok, facilities minimal, tea, coffee, small milk tubs + sugar. A wall mounted remote controlled TV. No cupboards or drawers, just a shelf and hanging rail with 5 hangers. The shower base had black mould around the sealed sides and on the vertical joints. The shower soap dispenser was broken and almost impossible to use but it was empty for 3 days anyway and was only refilled when I removed the cover to show the empty soap tank. The room was only serviced on request - by hanging the sign on the door handle - but "serviced" is something of an exaggeration. Clean towels were supplied but during our 6 day stay, the carpet wasn't vacuumed and even when "serviced" the bed was left unmade. I chatted with the room maid once and she was obviously rushed off her feet - can't really blame her for the lack of service. Having said that, all the staff were really friendly and helpful, supplying tea, milk and toilet rolls on request.…
great location for Fringe Festival, attentive, great, helpful front desk staff. Room had little space for belongings and amenities very few...soap dispensers didn't work, given a few teenie weenie bars of soap, had to request toilet tissue and coffee etc. Rooms are WAY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET but have to say you cannot find a better team of staff at the front desk.
Very good, had an issue with the mattress staff were very helpful and we were moved to another room promptly. They reimbursed the nights of the uncomfortable mattress for us. Very happy. Thankyou, will stay again.
Thiis Travellodge is lovely, we had a family room, newly refurbished. The staff went above and beyond to assist whilst we were there. Really good location and easy to walk everywhere/use public transport.
I stayed alone in a double room with a long narrow view over back gardens to adjacent buildings. The room was a good size, well furnished with an armchair and an upright chair for use on a ledge table where there was a kettle. The bathroom was compact but not at all squashed and well lit. The bed was very comfortable. There were a couple of issues which could be improved or were a problem. There were three curtained windows. The curtains of the nearest to the bed did not reach the end of the rail so light was admitted during the early hours which I find can wake me up. Perhaps the gap could be closed by adjustments to the curtain hooks and/or rail. My main problem was total lack of internet connectivity in the hotel for my network provider. I gather this is so for several networks. WhatsApp connectivity in the room and the hotel staircase was intermittent. Despite that issue, the staff could not have been more helpful or more friendly. I made a booking for an extra night at a different Travelodge in error. Two staff members, Alan and Ana, were involved in arranging my transfer via emails to Central Bookings, and without hesitation, Ana offered to print my airline booking documents for me which later Alan did and left at reception. I felt I could ask them for assistance relating to my stay beyond what was relevant to Travelodge. So overall I recommend Travelodge and of course this particular hotel has a superb location in the centre of the city.…
Reasonable price compared to other accommodation although still elevated due to demand as fringe and tattoo on. Would recommend as pretty central, comfortable beds, room was small and basic but enough for 1 night.
Very friendly staff. Seems to be newly renovated. A bit of noise late at night from the street. Otherwise great stay. We had the breakfast to go and it was simple but good. Used the luggage storage room which was useful.
Looks grubby on arrival at front door. Looks like someone has vomited outside and it’s never been washed away properly. Couldn’t get early check in on arrival (despite ringing up days earlier to ask if this was possible and being assured it was by Alan). Left bags in reception and was assured entry would be easy later in the evening when we returned (about 1130pm). It wasn’t! 10-15 mins of banging on the door, ringing the bell, ringing the phone number given etc etc. Eventually gained access and the chap on reception apologised and he was friendly enough. Small room! It was supposed to be a small family room! For Hobbits?!? The single fold away bed was rocky and tiny. Nearly fell out of bed twice during the night! No flannels in the bathroom, no instructions on opening the window but figured it out eventually whilst balancing on the desk! So…..this does what it says on the tin I suppose. A very basic bed in a good location in Edinburgh. If you’re going for a night away or something special, spend more. £166 for the room for 2 people for one night…..wished I’d spent more and gone elsewhere! …
Decent for the price. Staff were very friendly and room was nice basically what you’d expect from a travelodge really. It was a little noisy but there is warnings to expect that so it wasn’t something we weren’t expecting. Basically very good for what we paid 😊
Had a great time seeing the sights and then came back to the hotel to chill out it was lovely and clean and friendly. The staff were very good and nothing was to much trouble . I would recommend this hotel and will be staying here again.
