I stayed here for one night to attend a concert. Check in and check out were both easy and quick and the staff were pleasant. My room was in the basement and had all I needed. The bathroom was very clean with an excellent shower and the bed was comfortable. There was an adequate selection of tea, coffee etc. I didn't take the breakfast option but went to Costa just around the corner. I would definitely stay here again as it is in a great location in the centre of Edinburgh and very reasonably priced compared to some other hotels.
This hotel was average. The staff are not friendly or welcoming which is a big no when welcoming new guests. At least pretend you are happy to see people that have spent a lot of money to stay at your establishment! There are absolutely no facilities. No lounge or bar or restaurant. Breakfast is over the road but don’t waste money paying £10 for this, go to the Wetherspoons round the corner for half the price or one of the many cafes. Have no clue how it is a 4 star hotel. Good points are the location and the bathroom being immaculate. Room was ok. No extras. Basic tea coffee milk but no biscuits. No shampoo in the bathroom. Distinctly underwhelming. I would probably book a premier inn next time as they offer exactly the same I am sure for half the cost. Wouldn’t stay again.
A very good stay overall. Breakfast in restaurant across road good but stingy. No juice. Only allowed coffee and a main course. The French Toast was bland and not what i expected. Only negative in hotel was lack of manners from woman at reception who did not thank me on departure. No welcome on arrival either.
This hotel was rated as a 4 star hotel which is one the reasons we thought we would stay. However, the room was underwhelming, it had single glazed windows in wooden framed windows which could have done with repair and painting. It was close to center of town and all amenities eg, bus and train stations. The hotel itself did not have a restaurant so we had to walk across the road for our breakfast each morning. This in itself was okay as we had lovely weather, not so nice if it had been raining. On the booking form I was asked if we had any special requests. I typed in that it was my husband's 50th birthday and this was a celebratory trip and if the hotel could do anything to make the trip more memorable. This however was a complete waste of time as his birthday did not receive a mention, extremely disappointing. Be prepared if going to this hotel, location is good, but because of this it can be noisy and the single glazing doesn't help.…
Lovely hotel and staff rooms are very clean and spacious close to shops bars and sites of Edinburgh this is my second say at Frederick House But their is building work this stay next door it is horrendous they start at 7am shouting and smashing glass banging and drilling on the otherside of my bedroom wall should have been informed at booking as would have chosen different hotel
