Thats exactly what this stay provided. Of course the hospitality industry continues to suffer as we are all struggling through a global pandemic however, we felt the safety extras in place at this property were spot on. From the obvious measures such as screens and sanitisers to the extras in toom being available on request so they are not just left to sit to become high risk touch points. Giving the common knowledge aspect of reduced staff in all properties, I liked the fact they had an option to call staff to the desk making the experience efficient so well done on being creative when needing to manage 2 places at once.
The check in was warm, friendly and informative and for this I wish I remembered the name of the staff member but he was a lovely gentleman, I believe the Operations Manager perhaps?
Of course we knew to actually ask about a shuttle service but the staff bet us to it and explained how it would operate in accordance with our departure time and a £2.50 charge is hardly breaking the bank keeping in line with the budget style product but yes there is a small charge for the service.
Room was lovely and spacious, with a great large shower. It was only a double room with a sofa bed but in comparison to the same category we had just left in the city centre, it felt much more spacious
.
As we arrived late and left before 6am we didn't get to dine at the restaurant but we were able to grab a coffee and breakfast bag in the morning which was great.
It seems many people are too used to expecting more free amenities and that services should be back to normal just because more people are now brave enough to travel, but this really is not the case.
Having worked in hospitality, I understand that doing some basic research prior to your stay anywhere will not only address any queries or concerns but will help manage ypur own expectations as each property operates different and it is simply unfair to penalise those trying their best giving that hospitality will not be back to the same level as pre Covid19 for many years. So we say well done team your are doing great in such trying circumstances 👏
We ate in the restaurant and it was fabulous, the fish and chips was the best we ever had, the fish was enormous. The service was good and the staff really friendly in particular it appeared to be the duty manger who was also on the next morning, she was lovely.
Included in the hotel stay and parking was breakfast which was delicious - a choice of around 4 cooked items and a selection of cereals and it looked like Gregg's rolls of which my son had 2!!!!
The bus took 5 minutes and the return cost was great value, I think £10 return for us all and we were picked up quickly on our return.
In future when flying from Edinburgh I will try to stay here, just fabulous and such great value for money. Thank you, our holiday began here!
We even had the added excitement of a full evacuation when the alarm went off at 21:15hrs. Issue in boiler house but we were well looked after by the staff on duty who checked we were all there and provided emergency foil blankets for those who needed it while we were hanging around in the cold for an hour.
Special thanks to Emma Hobson, general manager, who seemed to be permanently on duty as head cook and bottle washer but gave exceptional customer service. Nothing was a problem. We fully intend to use the hotel again for future trips to Edinburgh and environs.
Negatives- We had booked a 15 night park and stay rate but required 22 nights. Previously we were charged an additional £4 per night and this was the rate when we booked
On arrival we were informed it was now an additional £10 per night! After much debate the receptionist agreed to honour the £4 per night. Interesting to note this is the quietest we have seen the car park
When we got to our room the fold down bed was made up even although we had booked a double for 2
The safe was locked so we couldn’t use it
Went for dinner, bar service was extremely slow but couldn’t fault the food
After we finished our meal we thought we would have a night cap but no Vodka or Baileys !! Really!! With the prices you are charging you need to up your game
We are IHG gold elite members but time to change and look elsewhere for better prices and better facilities/service
We have booked for February and going to book for our Sept break but currently looking at better options
Our room was excellent; the staff at reception were friendly and helpful.
A really good experience.
Room wasn't ready on arrival as booking.com never sent over the correct booking. We requested a double bed and two singles for kids but we end up taking a twin and two pull out beds.
Staff were nice.
Evening meal was nice.
Shuttle bus every few minutes (£2.50 pp)
They also have an express breakfast which is great.
Would stay again
"Car parking is useful. We used shuttle bus for twilight bag drop. Hotel gets busy as you would expect. Breakfast starts at 0400 ."Read full review
