While some guests appreciate the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Airport for its clean atmosphere and convenient shuttle service, others have expressed concerns regarding value. The proximity to the airport is strategic for early flights, yet mixed feelings surface due to high parking fees and distance-related issues. Room experiences vary, with cleanliness being consistently praised, especially in the bathrooms, but noise levels and outdated decor have been noted. Service quality is also a point of contention, with reports of both commendable efficiency and disappointing disorganization.

Stayed with a friend to enjoy Bruce Springsteen concert at Murrayfield. Check in was a breeze and kudos to the lovely chap on reception. Firstly allowed us to store passports in the hotel safe and then patiently answered our questions on transport options, which were spot on. Next day, after a very comfortable night's sleep, breakfast was more than adequate with lovely touches of take away coffee cups and bags for sandwiches. On checking out the same lovely chap was back on reception, asked if we had enjoyed the concert and again, patiently answered more of our questions on bus tours around Edinburgh. Fantastic stay & service. If ever I find myself in Edinburgh again I would definitely return.

On reading other reviews I felt compelled to write one as the comments so far are needlessly over critical. Holiday Inn is not known for their abundance of complimentary extras nor their room service features but being a great budget friendly alternative to the 4/5 star option, great for just a comfortable, clean sleep.

Thats exactly what this stay provided. Of course the hospitality industry continues to suffer as we are all struggling through a global pandemic however, we felt the safety extras in place at this property were spot on. From the obvious measures such as screens and sanitisers to the extras in toom being available on request so they are not just left to sit to become high risk touch points. Giving the common knowledge aspect of reduced staff in all properties, I liked the fact they had an option to call staff to the desk making the experience efficient so well done on being creative when needing to manage 2 places at once.

The check in was warm, friendly and informative and for this I wish I remembered the name of the staff member but he was a lovely gentleman, I believe the Operations Manager perhaps?

Of course we knew to actually ask about a shuttle service but the staff bet us to it and explained how it would operate in accordance with our departure time and a £2.50 charge is hardly breaking the bank keeping in line with the budget style product but yes there is a small charge for the service.

Room was lovely and spacious, with a great large shower. It was only a double room with a sofa bed but in comparison to the same category we had just left in the city centre, it felt much more spacious
.
As we arrived late and left before 6am we didn't get to dine at the restaurant but we were able to grab a coffee and breakfast bag in the morning which was great.

It seems many people are too used to expecting more free amenities and that services should be back to normal just because more people are now brave enough to travel, but this really is not the case.

Having worked in hospitality, I understand that doing some basic research prior to your stay anywhere will not only address any queries or concerns but will help manage ypur own expectations as each property operates different and it is simply unfair to penalise those trying their best giving that hospitality will not be back to the same level as pre Covid19 for many years. So we say well done team your are doing great in such trying circumstances 👏

We stayed here as a family before flying out to Tenerife on an early flight mid February. Check inn was quick and the receptionist was very friendly. The room was spotless and spacious.
We ate in the restaurant and it was fabulous, the fish and chips was the best we ever had, the fish was enormous. The service was good and the staff really friendly in particular it appeared to be the duty manger who was also on the next morning, she was lovely.
Included in the hotel stay and parking was breakfast which was delicious - a choice of around 4 cooked items and a selection of cereals and it looked like Gregg's rolls of which my son had 2!!!!
The bus took 5 minutes and the return cost was great value, I think £10 return for us all and we were picked up quickly on our return.
In future when flying from Edinburgh I will try to stay here, just fabulous and such great value for money. Thank you, our holiday began here!

Stayed here a total of 3 nights before and after our trip to the Western Isles. Cannot praise this hotel enough. Despite Covid they still do a good limited evening meal and breakfast provision and the staff are excellent. Rooms good, clean, daily housekeeping still operational. Left car here for 5 nights - excellent value. Cheaper than a long stay. £2.50 return on airport shuttle which is currently running on demand : 5 min transfer. Hotel literally beside the Royal Highland show ground so will be busy/ noisy at that period. Park and Ride - tram and bus only 5 mins away for excellent access into central Edinburgh (with a tram stop at Murrayfield if anyone needs it! )
We even had the added excitement of a full evacuation when the alarm went off at 21:15hrs. Issue in boiler house but we were well looked after by the staff on duty who checked we were all there and provided emergency foil blankets for those who needed it while we were hanging around in the cold for an hour.
Special thanks to Emma Hobson, general manager, who seemed to be permanently on duty as head cook and bottle washer but gave exceptional customer service. Nothing was a problem. We fully intend to use the hotel again for future trips to Edinburgh and environs.

There is a shuttle service from the airport to this hotel (charge) or a 15 min walk. Once there the rooms are comfortable and the staff super helpful and friendly. There is a bar and food available. A small yet varied menu and very good. Nice breakfast included in price. If staying longer than a few days without a car you can walk 20 mins to the tram stop at the nearby ‘park and ride’ to get into the City. If you chose to take the tram from the airport the cost triples for the return ticket.

Positives- Reception area was warm and heating in room was good
Negatives- We had booked a 15 night park and stay rate but required 22 nights. Previously we were charged an additional £4 per night and this was the rate when we booked
On arrival we were informed it was now an additional £10 per night! After much debate the receptionist agreed to honour the £4 per night. Interesting to note this is the quietest we have seen the car park
When we got to our room the fold down bed was made up even although we had booked a double for 2
The safe was locked so we couldn’t use it
Went for dinner, bar service was extremely slow but couldn’t fault the food
After we finished our meal we thought we would have a night cap but no Vodka or Baileys !! Really!! With the prices you are charging you need to up your game
We are IHG gold elite members but time to change and look elsewhere for better prices and better facilities/service
We have booked for February and going to book for our Sept break but currently looking at better options

Currently in quarantine after a business trip home from a red country. I would like to start by saying I work and sleep in offshore platforms and boats with constant noise around and and I always sleep well. I’m currently on the first floor of this hotel and all I can say is the walls must be made of paper. The guy in the room next to me has the same message tone as me and I’ve walked over and picked up my phone on at least 4 occasions to find it was his phone not mine that pinged. I can hear him stir his tea and boil the kettle even which tv show he’s watching. How do I know it’s a guy well I can’t The security in the hallway are always escorting people in and out for 15 mins exercise and talking in the hallway echos like nothing else it’s as if it’s someone outside your door. When a plane passes over the place almost vibrates. I have stayed in hotels all over the world even in 3rd world countries and never in my life have I experienced such poor sound proofing. As for the staff they are friendly and the food provided is fine

Really impressed with this hotel- check in was extremely easy and we were able to purchase shuttle tickets to the airport for 4 pounds each at time of check in. The food is pretty good for being hotel food and it has a nice breakfast that included eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. The room itself was clean. Would highly recommend staying here if you have an early morning flight out.

We had a very early flight and so an airport hotel was a good idea - especially as we got a great deal including breakfast and car parking. Being so early, the breakfast was continental - the cooked items started a little later; but we got what we needed.
Our room was excellent; the staff at reception were friendly and helpful.
A really good experience.

Stayed here over night for an early flight.
Room wasn't ready on arrival as booking.com never sent over the correct booking. We requested a double bed and two singles for kids but we end up taking a twin and two pull out beds.
Staff were nice.
Evening meal was nice.
Shuttle bus every few minutes (£2.50 pp)
They also have an express breakfast which is great.
Would stay again

I travelled from the airport to the hotel (and viceversa on departure) by a shuttle that was organised in the 10 days trip around Scotland. I would not think there are problems in setting up a taxi at Edinburgh airport for any destination.
