Ideal location, heartnof the city. Close to rail and bus station and amongst all shops and restaurants. The room was small but we were out all the time so it suited our purpose. Really friendly and accommodating staff which is essential and makes the stay more appealing.

What an awful experience. I arrived to my room to find the temperature over 30C and just a fan on the desk. I was not planning to be at the hotel during the day so hoped the fact there was a window open meant that the room might cool. It did not cool that much and overnight was very uncomfortable. I never slept in the bed but on top of it due to the overwhelming heat in the room. I would never stay here again. And at the Edinburgh Festival pricing of over £200 per night this hotel could afford to put in some Air Conditioning. Did I say "don't stay here" enough?

Very friendly staff. The room is basic but you get what you pay for. Despite that, the room was very clean and tidy. The only issues I had, was there were no batteries in the tv remote (which was sorted very quickly) and that all the travelodges in Edinburgh are named Edinburgh Central. I went to the wrong one first off. Make sure you check the street name first is my advice.

They didn't clean the room during our hole estance. We have requested to clean our bathrooms and the rooms, we were in 3 rooms, and they don't clean any of them. In the looby they have a bad smell because they don't clean the rubbish.

Stayed here for my husbands 40th in July, had a room on the top floor overlooking St James’s Square. Room was spotless, had a great view and was spacious. The hotel staff were great, when we needed an extra towel late at night it wasn’t a problem. Would definitely recommend this hotel, such a good location for exploring Edinburgh too

Handy location for trams, buses and trains. Easy walk to everything in the festival. Very nice friendly and accommodating staff. We were initially put in the underground room, try to avoid these if possible. Quiet and peaceful, but cold and dark (and no ligt to the very bottom which meant draggong hfavy cases up and down stairs). Staff happy to help us out changing this when other rooms became available. No cleaning or tidying of rooms unless requested. This policy introduced initially because of covid but now seemingly being used as a money grab by travel lodge to let them avoid hiring appropriate numbers of staff. The staff we met were great but there were simply not enough of them.

The location of this hotel is perfect, unfortunately that is the only perfect thing about it. Beds were not great, a family room that only just left enough room to move about, no chance of hanging clothes or unpacking. Very expensive for what you get even considering its Tattoo and Fringe Festival time.

Hotel has a fantastic location, BUT it needs a complete overhaul!!!! Bedroom was fusty and really smelly. A hoover had not seen the room, the carpet stank of feet, so bad we couldn't walk without shoes on. A deep clean never happened, in fact the room never saw a hoover. Pets should be in designated rooms and area. This could be a great stay, if carpets were replaced and walls, skirting boards, bathroom floors etc washed!!!!

Fantastic value for money. Immaculate rooms. Right across from Waverley train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to restaurants and bars. Across from Princes St for all your shopping. Only a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh’s iconic Royal Mile and castle. Everything you need at your fingertips. We are saving up for our trip back to this Travelodge in November for Christmas shopping. Absolutely 100% for everything you need to make the most from your stay. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Edinburgh except Travelodge Waterloo Place. Love it!!

Was a little concerned booking this hotel after reading some reviews but felt reassured that overall the hotel was 4/5 on trip advisor... how wrong we were. The room hadn't been cleaned before our arrival... hairs in the bed, dirty towels, floor hadn't been hovered in a long time as it was covered in crumbs (we made sure not to walk on the carpet barefoot after a shower), run down and grotty. Worryingly, the room (-306) was at street height and our window opened into a filthy, rubbish covered lane which stunk of urine in the morning so we couldn't open the window for fresh air. The only saving grace were the staff who were lovely and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked and we couldn't find another hotel as it was the first weekend of the fringe or we would have been outta there in a shot! Come on travellodge - sort it out and invest in this hotel. Have stayed at many travellodges before and this is by far the most run down and neglected. Definitely not worth £300 for the 2night stay we'd booked!!
