Such an exquisite and wonderfully located hotel in Edinburgh. The Restaurant on the seventh floor has an incredible view, wonderful food and outstanding staff. The breakfast in the morning was like having a full brunch every day with a glass of champagne or anything else you wanted. I have traveled throughout Europe but this has to be the best hotel, accommodations and delightful staff. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Edinburgh. Jill at the front desk made everything work well and was so helpful. The staff should be commended for their outstanding service, hospitality and friendliness. Truly outstanding and this Hotel should be rated a 5 star!
This was a wonderful hotel. Despite being in the Old Town district of Edinburgh, this was a relatively new building, although the outside was built to try and keep with the traditional appearance of the rest of the Old Town buildings. However, inside, it was fantastically laid out. The reception and champagne bar on the 7th floor had lovely furnishings and provided a fabulous view of the Edinburgh skyline. We booked a "roomy" room and it was marvellous. A superbly comfortable bed and wonderful amenities. The free mini-bar and treats, which are replenished daily, is a nice touch. I mean, who can resist free tea cakes! The layout of the room was very classy with a terrific shower. The corridors were well laid out with fine carpet and beautiful artwork, which helped made the place feel cozy. The breakfast choices and the quality of the food is first rate. What really helps this hotel give it the wow factor though are the staff. They are simply amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. They couldn't do enough for you. I think the hotel is amazingly priced for its location and we will be staying there again on our next visit to Edinburgh.…
Excellent, modern and clean hotel. Great location for the train station and close to all of Edinburgh's main attractions. Friendly staff, felt very safe. Great amenities in the room. We felt breakfast was expensive so we got breakfast from a local coffee shop under the hotel.
Me and my hubby stayed here for our 35th wedding anniversary and the hotel was fantastic. Location was perfect, just outside the Waverley train station and within walking distance to all the main atttactions. The rooftop bar is amazing and so relaxing we loved to go there at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The breakfast was plentiful and such a fantastic choice we will definitely come back here and have no hesitation in recommending it
As advertised this is a modern hotel. We liked -the location, fabulous breakfast, champagne in the bar in the evening, minibar inclusions. Not so much -checkin on 7th level, no room service , no real hotel services, sheets changed infrequently.
The Market Street Hotel is centrally located in Edinburgh across the street from the main R.R. station. It's quite modern inside and quirky as the hotel business (check-in, restaurant & bar are located on the 7th floor. So when you enter the building, you have to take the "lift" to 7 and the rooms are located on floors below with keycard access. They do up breakfast really nice with a plethora of choices. You can even get your eggs coddled if you want. The croissants and Danish are excellent. Your best money exchange is at the post office, located in the train station, as they give the government rate. Enjoy, you'll like this hotel.
I've stayed here twice, last September and this March. Really enjoyed staying here, such a great location, lovely champagne lounge, although prices not the cheapest. However I decide to come back at end of August/ beginning of September, and to my disgust the price has doubled to exactly the same room package ! I'm sorry but they're taking the you know what, I'm well aware the cost of everything has gone up but this is just a rip off, don't think I'll be back.
The accommodations and service were excellent during our 5-day stay. They were very welcoming and saw to all of our needs, even provided a glass of champagne at check-in and 2 complimentary champagnes at Nor Lofs to enjoy the view from the glass-enclosed balcony on the same floor as the Reception (FL 7). Very relaxing after a busy day of sight-seeing. They provided complimentary cookies and chips, coffee and tea in our room. Really loved that! We did not eat breakfast there as the fee of 18.50 Pounds sterling per person was a bit steep. But we easily found good full breakfasts for 13.50-15 PD sterling covering 2 people within 1-3 minutes walking. Market Street is a great location to both the new and old towns, especially if you plan any bus tours or plan to train to another location. We used Cockburn Street (1 minute away) to walk easily up to the Royal Mile, and the New Steps just a 2 minute walk away lead to The Writers Museum and very near Edinburgh Castle. We used Waverley Bridge to access Princes Street and New Town, or you could walk through Waverley train station and do the same. Our room was quiet and the views were great. Very modern and we are very pleased we stayed there!…
What a delight! The Market Street Hotel delivered and exceeded our expectations! The location on Market Street couldn’t be a better location - right across the street from the train station - made it very easy to get off the train, check-in, and unwind. The service checking in was easy, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and gives the right amount of Scottish flavor. Our room was gorgeous, comfortable, and nicely appointed. View was lovely! The room itself had a great minibar, enough room to unpack and get ourselves situated. The room came with a Dyson hair dryer with all the attachments - including a diffuser (my curly hair heart felt heard). There was also a hair straightening iron and a clothes steamer. Bed was comfortable and room climate was easily adjusted to suit. The room was quiet, but street noise was heard - we enjoyed it as we felt in the heart of a vibrant city. We easily left the hotel to walk one end of the Royal Mile to the other - many pubs, restaurants, and shopping all outside your door. Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer! “Haste ye back” indeed!…
Had a wonderful stay at Market Street Hotel, from the location to the service to the accommodations, a perfect experience all around. Each day started with a lovely continental breakfast... hard to beat the 7th floor views with a morning cup of coffee! The rooms themselves are cozy, yet modern with one of the most powerful showers I've ever experienced. Service was polite and prompt, with attention to the smallest details to ensure a quality guest experience. However, the best part of the hotel is the location, right in the heart of Edinburgh, making it easy to traverse the entire city, while easily stopping back to the room between activities. I'd highly recommend and hope to return for another visit!
