2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
Fingal opened in January 2019 in the historic Port of Leith as a unique addition to Edinburgh’s hotel scene following a £5 million development. This former Northern Lighthouse Board ship, begins an exciting new chapter offering beautiful cabins, dining and entertaining space. Developed by The Royal Yacht Britannia, Fingal’s 23 luxury cabins are each named after Stevenson lighthouses, inspired by her rich maritime heritage. Sleek corridors lined with lighthouse images lead to the choice of cabins, from a luxury cabin with access to the deck, a duplex cabin with comfortable living space or the stunning Skerryvore Suite with extensive outdoor space to relax and entertain. Carefully considered design offers the highest specifications of craftmanship and finish, with nautical touches and polished woods. Sumptuous Scottish leathers and the finest linens are in colour palates inspired by Fingal’s journey from land and sea.

We were given our stay at the Fingal as a wonderful generous wedding present! We arrived at 12.30 and were given our room right away (Fair Isle South), even though check-in isn't until 3pm. The dock area is undergoing construction, so first impressions weren't great when driving up to the ship if i'm completely honest. However, once aboard, any negative thoughts vanished with the friendly greeting from the staff. Our room was lovely and had 2 portholes which overlooked the entrance to the ship, but we never had any problem with noise. All the finishings are of a high standard and the walk in shower was just amazing, with luxurious toiletries. The complimentary fudge & truffles were a nice touch as was the handwritten welcome note. We had dinner as part of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed it - again the service was second to none - friendly and not pretentious. There was a good selection to choose from at breakfast and my Eggs Benedict was just right. We left our overnight case with reception and used our free tickets to see the Royal Yacht Britannia - which was interesting. The tickets cost £18 each, so its a good saving. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.

Just the most amazing place to stay. We came to celebrate our 30th anniversary & the staff were brilliant throughout. Rooms are superb and the food in the restaurant was excellent. It’s a little on the pricey side but if you’re treating yourselves it’s worth every penny.

Our stay on the Fingal was the best experience we have ever had, the staff were so helpful and friendly the food just as amazing and the bed I needed a step ladder to reach it lol. Being able to see round the ship even down to the engine was fantastic. Fingers crossed we will be back very soon. I can't thank the crew enough for our visit. Thank you.

My wife and I chose the Fingal for our 30th Anniversary Celebration. From stepping onboard the staff were extremely accommodating and genuinely friendly. Our suite was fabulous but the slight slope in the floor is a bit weird, a lovely big bed and nice linen. The restaurant menu is a little expensive and limited ( 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 deserts) but the food was high quality and our waitress Olivia was lovely and nothing was a problem. Breakfast in the morning is superb with lots of options and a superb Scottish breakfast.

Amazing place from the moment you step onboard, they make you feel really special here. The rooms are incredibly well thought out with little nautical touches throughout. I had a small issue with the room and the staff went out of their way to put things right and ensure I had a special stay. Only gripe I have is the food in the restaurant is expensive and limited options, breakfast though is a different story and there are plenty of options. The staff couldn't be more accommodating if they tried, I was even able to have an earlier breakfast as I had a flight to catch. Special shout out to Rui, Charlie and Callum for their help. Thanks for an amazing stay all!
