Stayed in this hotel for a 4 night city break to Edinburgh. First impressions are good with a modern reception area, warm welcome and a nice Lebanese restaurant attached to the hotel. Unfortunately first impressions went downhill when we got to the queen room on the second floor - lots of maintenance issues. Shower screen support hanging off the wall, the towel rail in the bathroom fell off when I got the towel off it and the carpet was coming up where it meets the tiles, presenting a dangerous trip hazard. As such we asked to move rooms and the only other room available was an accessible room on the 1st floor. This had fewer maintenance issues however was positioned next to the gym. There is pretty much zero soundproofing as we found out when someone started using the gym at 11pm at night (it is suppose to close at 10pm). This continued throughout the stay with several nights of interrupted sleep and calls to reception to get them to stop people using the gym when it is outside of opening hours. Why they don’t just lock the door I do not know. The breakfast was adequate, a limited selection of hot food with no Scottish items in sight. A reasonable continental offering however. I would not stay here again, there are just too many issues considering it is a new hotel…
Everything about this hotel either lived up to or exceeded my expectations. The staff were impressive in the way that they made you feel that your needs were important to them, something which isn't that common in a chain hotel. I liked the foyer area and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast in covid times is going to be more difficult but it was dealt with very well and was actually quite relaxing. This is a very reasonably priced hotel, close to the city centre which I have no hesitation in recommending and will stay here again when next in Edinburgh.
Room is nice and clean, and very quiet. But minus for no fridge in the room, no possibility to open the window. The room was very hot every time we came back. If you remove the keycard the air conditioner stopped. We asked the staff at the front desk, to tell the cleaners to leave the a/c on. But every time we came back it was off, and approximately 30 degrees in our room. The staff cleaning the rooms did not speak any English at all. We tried to tell them to leave the a/c on. But they understood nothing and didn’t try to understand anything either. The breakfast is ok, but they serve the same food every day. We stayed for four days, and it was absolutely no variation. The location is ok, approximately 20 minutes to walk to city center. And bus to airport 10 minutes walk from the hotel.…
Second stay here-first was immediately after lockdown so was not comparable to normal life for many reasons. Anyway, stayed for a night away with my daughter last week. For a Hampton type no-frills style of hotel, this place is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. Room spotlessly clean and breakfast, despite being a bit canteeny, served ample breakfast items to fill you up for the day. Daughter loved the DIY waffle station. I need to mention the lovely Ogi, at reception. He is kind, friendly and professional. Great stay, would recommend and we will be back!
Stayed here numerous occasions and always found it friendly and clean, well located, easy to navigate local area to amenities we did a lot of walking around grass market areas having a coffee at coffee boat on the canal very reasonable price
