Breakfast next morning was also lovely. The staff in hotel were lovely, rooms nice I would definitely stay there again I was told by staff that you can book a table without being a resident.

Stayed her for three nights October 2022 with the Scotland Rugby League team prior to the Rugby League World Cup. What a great find this hotel was. Spotlessly clean and so very comfortable. Bedrooms roomy and the beds as comfortable as you can get. The food was excellent, and they catered for our every need. The breakfasts were amazing and the service was beyond reproach . Special shout out to our servers Chez, Shannon and the boss Karen. Could not have been better. A massive thank you and a great start to our World Rugby League Cup campaign . Defo use this hotel again.

The outside of the hotel looks a little grim but don’t let this review put you off, inside its smart, clean and comfortable. Rooms have lovely comfy beds, good linen and a nice clean bathroom, our rooms were very quiet and we have nice views. Breakfast was very nice and staff super nice and helpful. Thoroughly recommend for a city break!

We have just returned from two nights in Edinburgh staying at the Scholar Hotel on Holyrood park road. We stayed in room 216 the room was very clean lovely big bed and everything we needed. The staff were second to none brilliant,on arrival the reception staff were very polite and helpful and explained everything we needed to know from restaurant times to the best buses to catch nothing was to much trouble for them. The restaurant/bar staff were helpful friendly and made sure we had everything we needed when we wanted it. The menu although small had enough choice and the food was cooked to perfection. My wife being a fussy eater they even allowed her to choose a main from the kid’s menu. Breakfast well what can I say for someone who has stay in many hotels this was the best one ever cooked and presented beautifully. Thank you Scholar Hotel our first visit to Edinburgh was made so much better just by staying there and especially the staff 5*

don't let the look of the outside put you off because it is so good on the inside . Big rooms , big modern bathroom and a short walk to pubs and restaurants. It is a 15 min walk to a laundrette which is handy when you are travelling. A 30 min walk to the Royal mile and the castle another 15 mins to the new town . It also has free parking . worth the stay

We were in the newly refurbished Scott. Room 33 Good and bad. The good. Lovely size room and bathroom. Beautiful decor throughput and large comfortable bed ensured a good night sleep. The Bad There was no mirror in the bathroom??? Who doesn't have a mirror in the bathroom? We wondered if maybe it wasn't finished as there was no toilet roll holder etc. There is a design fault with the shower area as the whole room flooded within a couple of minutes of having shower. We had to use all our towels to soak it up. We did ask reception to dry it up and replace towels while we were out which they did. The only mirror was next to the bed but with no overhead lights. So where is a girl supposed to do her makeup and hair?? Not in the bathroom and not at this morror either. Not sure if this was designed by a man or again not finished? There was also not a chair if you duid want to sit here in the dark and dry your hair. The TV was at a strange angle to the bed. There was no lift. Didn't bother us but not good if you are elderly or disabled. They also made a point of telling us we had a complementary drink at the bar in the Scholar. So when we went to get it they said there was no staff and pointed us to another building where we can buy a drink. So thanks for nothing. Parking not great. So make your own mind up. If they can sort these issues it would be nice as the decor and size were lovely in the old building. Staff were very polite.

Firstly the positives. The room was a very good size, clean and has everything you need. Great bathroom etc. The reception staff were helpful and welcoming. Just over the road is the bus stop with lots of different routes going through, so at these rates it works out quite decent for Edinburgh, so it does represent pretty good value in a very expensive city. The negatives then are the fact that the signage on the university campus was dreadful, the hotel parking area is currently used as a storage area for the builders, so you have to scrabble for parking in other areas of the campus. You most certainly won't be staying in the old building for sometime to come as it undergoing a complete refurb. and your accommodation will be in what looks like a hall of residence (even though it isn't). We didn't eat in the bistro as it looked completely soul less and the breakfast was expensive. We also had to walk single file out of the lift on the first floor as the laundry storage racks were all out on the landing the whole time we were there, which strikes me as really poor from the management.
