Fabulous . So grateful to the wonderful owners of Balcary House Hotel. We were moving house and did not get the keys until after 4pm. Our packers had to return to Lanarkshire with all our belongings as the keys were so late. So at 4.30pm in the evening in the middle of Covid restrictions we had to call around to find somewhere to stay. The owners agreed to open for our family and 2 dogs as we had no where to stay. Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful, but the owners are absolute diamonds. The rooms are gorgeous. Superbly decorated and furnished with sumptuous beds and ensuite facilities. Food ( prepared just for us) was delicious and we can’t recommend the hotel highly enough.
Just went for a High tea Was absolutely brilliant With 2 Irish Whiskys £20 Highly recommended The management were exceptional with ensuring our wee visit was memorable Can't wait to return for a weekend break
We stayed for 5 nights while on holiday in the area. Found it a great place to stay. The room was all very comfortable, shower was good. They put an adult sized 3rd bed in the room for our teenage daughter. Breakfast was all tasty and service attentive. Owners very friendly. Enjoyed afternoon tea out in the garden and also a couple of beers from the bar. Really hope the place can continue to prosper despite the current pandemic.
Spent three nights in this immaculately decorated and cosy hotel. The breakfasts were really generous and well cooked and served in a room with a beautiful bay window overlooking the garden. The evening bar snacks were also really lovely and great for a young family. The owners were really nice people to chat too and made us feel really welcome. The room was generously sized and warm and very pleasant. Whilst it was difficult to appreciate Hawick because so much of it was in lockdown and shut up , we did manage a trip to The Borders Distillery and it is a great base for doing some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. Very rarely do we not want to leave somewhere but this place was one of those. Beautiful and sad to leave. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
Beautiful place to stay , we had traveled from top of Scotland and were very tired , had a lovely warm welcome by hosts fantastic room comfy bed , best breakfast of our whole trip away , and our black lab was made really welcome to . Fantastic stop over will go again
