May 4th arrived Belfast, NI booked 19night stay, first thing noticed garbage all over front of apartment area (see Photos), the apartment was very shabby needed a paint job,the furniture was old & uncomfortable double bed was 2 singles pushed together. No storage space could not unpack our luggage, TV had all sorts of wires hanging from it WIFI did not work, called Giant Saturday/Sundays to see if we could change no one called back till Monday talked to Kelly told we could stay here asked to move more suitable apartment for OAP we are both 74, we offered to pay more and would pay for the 2 nights we stayed 118 Eglantine Ave, Kelly said nothing available so asked for a refund Less the 2 nights we stayed, Kelly said a refund would be no problem, its now July 13, 2019 no refund as of yet these guys should be wearing masts, their web site on travel websites not a true representation of the apartment on Eglantine Ave,Belfast NI don't stay here unless you see it in person .…
We are a family of 5 and recently stayed at the Eglantine Ave Giant Serviced Apartments. We found the apartment to be spotlessly clean, modern, spacious, great location and exceptional value. No problem recommending this property.
The attractive online photos belie the awful experience we had at Giant so called Serviced "Apartments" at 41 Eglantine Avenue .The tone was set by a non-welcoming email with the door codes which warned us we would be charged for any damage .What type of establishment welcomes you by threatening you for something you have not done or were not intending to do ? Upon entry there was no physical welcome ..the Reception Desk was a "Ghost Ship " .Instead our noses were assailed by the caustic aroma of industrial grade bleach . Is it not possible to use a more fragrant floor cleaner ? We travelled along a linear corridor lit by blindingly white LEDs to the door of our Flat (these are not apartments but flats squeezed into in a old terrace house ).After a high tech palm print entry system we entered a seemingly pitch black dark hallway ..we fumbled to find a light switch ( Hi tech systems appeared not to reach the Hallway ; a motion sensor light is a step too far apparently ) .We found 2 switches .One did nothing the other bizarrely lit another room .we fumbled further in darkness struggling to get our bearings . Natural light ??? The view from the salon was of/ through perforated metal shutter into a car park .The Bathroom had no natural light .The bedroom had a window looking directly into a high brick wall 2-3 ft away . The coffin like ambiance became increasingly overwhelming and distasteful . Despite the stench of bleach in the corridor( suggesting cleanliness was importance ) we opened the oven to find ourselves dry wretching from the stink of rancid burnt grease. All 3 oven trays had debris and grease from previously oven cooked food and the pizza tray was literally swimming in grease .The crockery and glasses were not clean and had to be washed before use .The sofa was very uncomfortable .Why have 2 hi tech smart TVs but not provide content ? The bed had a mattress with concrete like support .The heating system had a mind of its own at 10 pm were "baked" in the living area and at 3 am the bedroom was a furnace ..the coup du grace was delivered at 0745 Hrs when we woke to no electricity .I rang the "SERVICED " apartments number to be greeted with a recorded message telling me contact a maintenance contractor .Hello ?? What happened to the "SERVICED " part of the description .Pretty difficult to make breakfast or use an electric shower with no electricity .Eventually the electricity came back on .No apology or acknowledgement by GIANT .The Oven gloves were filthy fit only for the Bin. .The tone was further underlined by a Notice affixed to the back of the flat door .It informed us that if we made noise we would receive a Visit from a private security Firm . ( Not the Local Council who have the statutory authority to deal with Noise Nuisance and have teams On call 24/7 to address Nuisances ) . The Private Security Firm would charge us .So rather than have an independent, objective and publicly funded service provided by a local authority which is accountable for its actions , an unaccountable private commercial firm will "charge you " .Is this whats passes for Hospitality ? REALLY ? . I have stayed in lots of Holiday Apartments and this was beyond doubt the Worst ! We will not be back .The Photos and the price may be attractive but the reality is unpleasant ,…
The apartment has a modern decorated look. The location is near the university area, about a 1.5 miles from the main city centre. There were some food options around and also some small supermarkets if one wants to cook. The living area / kitchenette was spacious. No dishwashing tablets or cleaning products except for a kitchen roll. Some pans available but had to be cleaned before use. The bedrooms were smaller than expected, with little space to keep suitcases - we used ours from the living room. We were surprised to see a full dishwasher and some of the utensils in the kitchen were quite dirty. The refrigerator was stinking. The bedrooms were clean and beds comfortable. All doors all have codes, and instructions sent before hand, so no human interaction at all.
A few friends and I stayed over for a night on the recommendation of another friend and we were pleasantly surprised with the value and location. We were attending a boxing event down at the national stadium which was roughly a 10 minute walk away and then afterwards we went to a local bar/night club all within walking distance. The apartment itself (Top floor number 6) is very stylish, contemporary and very clean with what seemed to be two fresh/new sofa beds......one which I personally used. We all agreed that it is one of the best places we have stayed in Belfast to date and will certainly use these apartments again in future.
Excellent location, great value for money. Nice clean, comfortable apartment I'd highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place to stay in Belfast. I'll definitely book this place again next time I'm back in Belfast for a weekend
I stayed for one night in apartment 1 on ground floor on arrival into hallway I could smell smoke smell especially in the living room area the apartment had not been cleaned well dirty cups food under sink bin we had two bedrooms which seemed spotless but when going to bed that evening the sheets felt wet with the damp and room was very cold The sofa bed in living area needed to be Hoover as there was all crumbs under covers I will not be returning Only positive was being close to ulster museum and botanic gardens the area around apartment was nice. If they sort out cleaning and turn on heating it would have made for a much more comfortable stay.
Stayed in apartment number 1. The living area had a very strong stale tobacco smell which wasn’t very nice. We had to leave the windows open to lessen the smell. Later that evening when going to sleep the beds were damp so had to sleep over the duvet. Didn’t find this accommodation very good. Looked great on the face of it but when staying at it it didn’t live up to expectations. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Stay in the pent house apartment with my 3 kids, sister in law and her 4 kids. On arrival the instructions given were easy to follow. Apartment was very clean and well equipped, with clean fresh towels, soap, kitchen utensils, washing machine & dryer. There was plenty of room with us all being there we weren’t crammed in. Helpful and well mannered staff when called the office. The free WiFi was an added bonus. I would recommend and will be using again when next over to Ireland. Happy 😃
Myself, my husband and our two small boys stayed at Haypark House on Ormeau Road. The apartment was superior and well equipped for children. Location was excellent and really family friendly. Apartment was really well decorated and spotlessly clean with everything we could have wanted. It suited our needs rather than a hotel. Giant Apartment staff were really helpful and nothing was a problem even providing a new travel cot and high chair complete with cot sheets, toys etc. This was our first holiday with the kids and we will definitely be back, couldn’t rate this apartment highly enough. Extra laundry, towels etc provided and everything to perfection even complimentary biscuits, tea and coffee on arrival. Location was great for visiting local attractions and availing of coffee shops, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep. All you need for a family holiday we even got the weather!!! Thanks again Giant Apartments!!…
