Myself and a few family members stayed here for a weekend trip to Belfast. The hotel itself is decent and very central. What left it down was the staff and the communication. First of all, one evening we wanted to eat in the hotel and we were told the staff are busy with a function on in another room (basically telling us we won’t be served any food). The receptionist was dismissive and not one bit helpful. Unfortunately I left my passport in the hotel room when leaving the hotel (which I take full responsibility for). As soon as I realised I rang the hotel. There was no answer. I thought they might be busy so left it a while and rang again, and again, and again, and again. After roughly 6/7 attempts I decided to email instead and got a reply within a few hours saying that if I sent a prepaid label they would post my passport to me. I arranged for a courier from Royal Mail to collect the passport from the hotel and post it down to me using a fully tracked and traceable service that I paid for. I arranged for the passport to be collected the next day and sent on the details to the hotel saying a courier would be calling to collect it between 12-3pm. I got no reply and a few hours later I sent a follow up email and again got no reply. (Reception is 24/7 I was told) so I was starting to worry that I wasn’t hearing back from them. I rang and rang and rang and after about 13 calls someone eventually answered: this was 12pm the following day. I told him about the courier and asked if my passport was ready as the courier would be there shortly - I was told that they had it and it was ready. The courier went to the hotel at 12.15pm and I received an email to say he could not collect the item and the reason was “item was not ready for collection” I had to rearrange delivery for the following day. This hotel is absolutely impossible to get through to and simply do not care about its customers whatsoever - not one person reached out to me to try and get the issue sorted. I know it was completely my fault to leave my passport behind but people forget things all the time - if that was medicine or something valuable I would absolutely hate to have to try and get it back quickly from this hotel - you’ll be left in the dark.

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting Belfast. An amazing hotel with lovely friendly staff. Room was amazing, clean and comfortable. Nice touch leaving us some cans of coke, water and choc in mini fridge. Breakfast was outstanding as was the meal we had in the restaurant. The whole hotel was clean and tidy.

Hotel is well located and just a 10 min walk from the city hall. Cathedral quarter bars are 20 min walk. Good lounge and reception and food here on site is very good. Would like to praise Paul Stafford the deputy manager who was extremely helpful and professional and an asset to the hotel. The room was clean and beds comfortable albeit on smaller side ( std double) Price is about right for the location Parking rip off .. Issue is parking as the reception send you to the NCP car park 5 min walk away They say there is discount price but it did not work, They give a code and you are supposed to call the number on the exit barrier as leaving the NCP but when we tried nobody answered and you are then holding up the exiting car queue. No answer so cant give the code from hotel and people waiting to exit behind …so had to pay the normal published amount of £36 for the stay ( friday 5pm to Sunday am 10pm ) that’s a rip off and makes the room an extra £18 per night NCP at fault probably but you end up paying it

Friendly and helpful reception staff. Clean rooms. Room overlooked the BBC Belfast offices. Used the pool facilities but was told that was the last day as the pool was closing down which is unfortunate. Great city centre location for exploring the city and close to bars, restaurants and shops. Stayed in a Clayton before and always had an enjoyable stay. Only issue is rooms could do with a little bit of an upgrade.

Dear JMadeline24, Thank you so much for your brilliant review. I'm really sorry that the health club was not available for your use. The pool did close at the end of last year however a new dry gym is availble for all our guests to use 24/7. I'm pleased that your stay was so relaxing and I hope I can welcome you back again soon. The room was clean, big and contained fridge. Staff very helpful and friendly. If I had a couple of negatives no plug sockets next to bed so not enough in the room. TV blocks the mirror. Other than that excellent stay plenty of options for breakfast.

This is definitely a 4 star hotel with regards to the amenities provided but in terms of cleanliness, I’d struggle to agree. Every surface in my room was grubby looking, the carpets throughout the hotel look disgusting, there is mould in the bathroom and worst of all, I had to clean something congealed and yellow from the toilet seat in the room (I’ll leave you all to make your own conclusions).

Lovely welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble, exceptionally clean well presented room. Great bar and communal area for working, reasonably priced refreshments and a real bonus of no terrible background music that hampers business calls

We stayed at the Clayton Hotel in Belfast for 2 nights in January 2024. Overall our stay was very disappointing, and we would have awarded only 1 star had it not been for the excellent location of the hotel, and some redeeming features (i.e. the lift set-up meant that we never had to wait more than 1 minute for the lift despite the hotel being extremely busy, and check in was fast). Our room was extremely disappointing. We were allocated an accessible room (room 633), which has a lot of problems. We generally don't like staying in accessible rooms as we feel that these rooms are as unfit for an able bodied person, as a standard room is for someone with additional needs. The bathroom was a wet room (as opposed to having a standalone bath or enclosed shower cubicle), with the tiles on the floor reminiscent of a leisure centre swimming pool changing room I attended in the 90s (horrible beige squares with either brown or very dirty grout). The fan didn't work in the bathroom, and so it quickly filled up with steam. The bathroom also had a sewage smell upon entry, and in general could have used a deep clean with dirt visible on surfaces (particularly in the areas beside the toilet). The sink was too low to use without completely bending over, and the only available shelf in the bathroom was above the toilet. This is where the glasses were placed - perfect for catching fecal matter when the toilet is flushed. Further, the shower hose kept coming out, resulting in no water from the shower head, but lots of water getting sprayed directly on the floor. The room was extremely dated, and looked like it hadn't been refurbished in a very very long time (90s vibes again). The wardrobe rail was waist height as opposed to full height, which meant that I couldn't hang my coat or any of my dresses as they were too long and would've trailed on the floor. Only one of the hangers provided could be fully removed from the wardrobe allowing an item to be hung elsewhere. There were only 3 available power sockets in the room, all in very inconvenient locations, and no usb sockets. The television, whilst having 'netflix' 'prime' etc on the remote control, could not access those services, and we were unable to connect our chromecast as it could not access the wifi. The air conditioning in the room did not work at all, and so we had 2 nights of no sleep due to feeling like we were being cooked alive. We opened both windows but this did not help with the heat, and meant that we were awoken from an already very broken sleep by sirens, bottle bins being emptied and building works taking place nearby at various points in the night and early morning. This was not helped by the hotel doors, which are not 'soft close' doors, and so we were further disturbed every time one of our neighbours entered or left their rooms by almighty thuds. There was no soundproofing in the room at all, and we were able to hear everything our neighbours were doing, both when in their rooms and in the hall. The light set up in the room is also extremely ill thought out - it is not possible to keep a light on only in the hall area of the room without turning on all of the room lights, meaning that I was unable to get ready when my husband was still trying to sleep without inadvertently waking him up with blinding lights. I was also concerned by the ease of access to guest bedrooms. There was security on the door on Saturday night, who did not check room keys etc to check that people entering were guests of the hotel - I still don't actually understand what their purpose was at all. There is no security at any other time, and nothing to stop anyone from entering the hotel, getting in the lifts, and entering guest floors. A room key is not required at any point until you get to your bedroom door. Given the rising levels of crime in the city centre, this does not provide much reassurance of safety. Given our experience we would not stay at this hotel again.

Beautiful hotel, with two handy self-check in kiosks! The on duty staff member (I think manager) came over to help us, was very kind and helpful. The location is great and the room (twin beds) was lovely on the inside was comfortable beds. Fairly accessible to the city centre and at a reasonable price! Thank you!
