Stayed here many years ago and it lived up to it's 4 star rating then. Now if it didn't have a pool it would bearly scrape a 2. Room smells as if someone was cooking an exotic dish in it a couple of hours before arrival. The bed would break a spirit level, but sure it's the first time i've seen my toes in a while so there's at least that. Down to the bar for a drink, nothing like a Guinness from a dirty glass surrounded by uncleaned tables. Service at the bar less than what would be expected in a 4 star hotel, staff carrying on and joking with each other over radios while the tables are stinking and people are waiting to be served. Back to the room to relax, theres no robes, must have forgot to leave them. "Hello reception"... "do you have robes available"... "we do, but only for certian rooms" This was the only room option we had available when booking. Whats washing 2 extra robes worth to a place over customer satisfaction and reputation. So annoyed at the robe thing that i'm considering cancelling our dinner reservation in the restaurant and getting a taxi to somewhere to eat as i write this. Place used to be a nice trip away, safe to say i'll never be back…
Had the most relaxing night here on my own. Abbey on reception went out her way to ensure I had everything I needed including offering to bring my dinner to my room for me. Room was spotless. Breakfast selection was a little small (some more pastries and fresh fruit would have been great) but it was also very quiet so perhaps they put out more when it's busier. Had a wonderful time.
Had a fantastic night room was excellent evening meal and breakfast excellent the spa and treatment we had was very relaxing. on arrival receptionist could not have done enough to make our booking hassle-free looking forward to returning some time
Friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, with all facilities. Very respectable food all weekend for our all weekend function. Comfortable rooms for the function, and the Conference WiFi was excellent. Sadly, the guest WiFi was quite poor in some areas, despite protestations to the contrary from management. It kept freezing or disappearing entirely in my room. There is also quite poor mobile phone reception in the area, though Vodafone seemed OK. Pleasant countryside around, but little else to do in the immediate area bar use the gym and spa facilities.
STAY AWAY went here for a santa experience on December 3rd 2022, first of all there were no keys for the lockers of the swimming pool, there were no towels in the room, the beds were clean although didn't look freshly made, the TV was broken. the santa experience was supposed to be 1 hour for the child it was 30 minutes, she didn't get her crafts finished before being showed out the door to a derelict part of the hotel. you don't make reindeer food and there was no Mrs Claus, the next morning there was nothing available for a buffet breakfast, despite waiting 25 minutes still nothing arrived to the servery. It took me over a month to get in contact with a manager, they kept promising to get back to me nothing until this week I persisted until I got through to one. Got a manager called Megan who was so sorry I was offered a 20% discount. what an insult! I wouldn't recommend the place waste of money and time, I'm by no means fussy all I wanted was for us to have a fun night away for Christmas, but our experience overstepped the mark, and its clear their customers mean little to them if all they can offer for such a mess is 20% discount…
Mattress was so old everytime u moved u could hear the springs. Service in the restaurant was unacceptable, very expensive. Food was tasty though Bar closed at 10 o'clock to which we weren't aware of Fire alarm went off early in the morning to which we had to evacuate r rooms with no official apology Pool was clean and warm but some facilities not workin.
Booked for the Boxing Day Carvery. The staff were great and extremely pleasant. The soup starter was meant to be Cream of Vegetable but it was like drinking green water, I was really shocked at this. I ordered a vegetarian meal, I was given a stuffed Pepper which I thought was really tasty, I was however very surprised at the lack of fresh veg options and like others have commented the food wasn't hot. The Yorkshire puddings were dry and tasteless. The selection of deserts was however fantastic. Our first round cost well over £30 for 2 wines, 2 West Coast Coolers and a Fruit Shoot. I then ordered a bottle of white wine to share which was £30, seriously?!? How can those prices be justified. Absolutely wild.... We have been coming back and forth to this hotel for years but I'm honestly considering looking into somewhere else for next year. It's a real shame because I know just how good this hotel is capable of catering for a large amount of people.…
Had my annual Christmas dinner here and we had a great nights craic, food was good, band was good - my only complaint was that there could possibly be a few more food options on the menu but I understand that could be hard as there were so many people there. Staff did a great job and were always on hand :) Thanks Clare for helping to organise !!
Stayed at the Hotel at Half Term and were returning guests as we had stayed at Christmas 2019, however the pool was cold then and when we checked in and went to use the pool, you guessed it, the heater was broke and pool was cold and one of the staff said to just swim faster. It is definitely not a Luxury Country Club as the windows were dirty, shower didn't work and Sauna smelt disgusting. Went to room and cup was dirty of which they replaced, boys were in 2 camp beds and for the money we paid, this is not acceptable. When my wife complained to reception about the pool, she was told that we had to complain to the staff at the Country Club. When we went for breakfast on Wednesday morning, we had to wait for a staff member and the 1/2 of the tables in the room were full of dirty dishes. The food was lovely, however we weren't asked if we wanted tea/coffee etc. On Thursday morning for breakfast, it was a lot better with a different member of staff on and she was very helpful, however the light above our table was all cobwebs. If you have to park further down the car park, the lights are not on which makes if dangerous with young children. We complained to the Hotel via email and got offered 15% of our next stay and an upgrade and were told that we should have made the staff aware of our issues and the only thing we didn't say about was the beds as if they would have had bigger beds available, then they should have been in the room. We will definitely not be returning to the La Mon Hotel.…
Checkin great & staff but the hotel. Curtains coming of poles, freezing room and restaurant, breakfast, what there was of it was cold and dried out, asked for t.bags and milk, didn't get them, no bed protectors on 2 of the beds, not value for money and I'm only touching the surface. Emailed but still waiting! Would not recommend
