Hastings Grand Central is more than a hotel. It’s an ode to a city. Standing tall in Bedford Street, this impressive jewel fuses glamour and grandeur with a uniquely Belfast spirit. Perfectly placed in Belfast City. Just as Belfast is at the heart of the Grand Central, the Grand Central is at the heart of Belfast. Set in the up and coming Linen Quarter, the hotel is a spectacular hub for exploring Titanic Quarter’s history or Cathedral Quarter’s charming cobbled streets, pubs and eateries. Theatre buffs, shopaholics and historians alike will all be spoiled for choice, with a host of options right on their doorstep. Conveniently located for all transport access, the Grand Central is perfectly placed for every city centre endeavour – from business to leisure and everything in between.

The Grand Central Hotel captivates guests with its stylish decor and comfortable beds, creating a welcoming ambiance despite a few remarks about its lack of vibrancy. While the central location is a hit with guests desiring proximity to urban attractions, the value proposition has come under scrutiny due to pricey services and experiences that some guests feel don't match the cost. Service quality varies, with commendations for friendliness offset by service delays.
Rooms are generally lauded for their views and spaciousness, yet cleanliness and upkeep occasionally fall short. The amenities, including a lauded Observatory Bar and breakfast, are highlights, but suggestions for better soundproofing and quicker servicing have been noted.

Detailed Reviews
When you walk into the hotel it feels like luxury very warm and welcoming
There was a few people ahead of us in the queue for check in and it moved very fast so there was no long wait.
We stayed in a standard room it was very clean and modern bed must have been 6ft and extremely comfortable, there was tea and coffee making facilities and a TV no coffee machine just a kettle
The one down fall of our room was, there seemed to be a service door in the door with a tank or something behind it you could hear it refilling a lot and kept waking us up during the night,
The breakfast the next morning was a buffet style breakfast the food was nice and hot the ingredients where of a high quality and there was plenty to select from. fresh tea, coffee, orange and apple juice served it was of a very good standard
Check out you had to queue again it would be must easier to have some sort of self checkout
Over all the hotel was of a very good quality and the breakfast was very good the only downfall was a very broken sleep due to the noise of a water tank in the room

Dear BrianM Thank you for taking your time to share your feedback and I am sorry that you found a small queue at reception, I will speak to the Front Office Manager about increasing the profile of the Express CheckOut key drop. Very glad that you found the room and breakfast to your liking,my apologies for the noise of the water pipes, I will get our team to review the riser pipes to make sure that they are all fully insulated. Very best wishes Jake

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights whilst on business in Belfast. I had a pleasant stay, but with a couple of tweaks, it could have been an excellent stay.
My room was very comfortable, well equipped, and the fabulous quality of the bed linen and towels gave it a touch of luxury. I also loved the Espa toiletries in the bathroom and the well lit and convenient 'hairdressing/make up station' in the bedroom, which was one of the best I've seen. The breakfast buffet was also extremely good, with a great selection of quality food and great coffee. You'd have to be a very picky eater indeed to not enjoy the breakfast.
I haven't scored this review as 5 star for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I received no housekeeping service even though I stayed for 2 nights. I was out from early morning until mid evening on my second day, and when I returned to my room, it was exactly as I'd left it. Now I'm not opposed to making my own bed and reusing towels for a second time, but for the price I paid I expected housekeeping to refresh the room and replace the tea/coffee/water etc. The grouting in the shower cubicle was mouldy in places andvthere was a little bit of grime around the shower head holder. At dinner on the first night in the Grand Cafe (which was excellent) when I came to pay the bill I asked to sign it to my room and was left waiting for over 20 minutes whilst the restaurant staff and reception team investigated whether I'd left credit card details when I checked in - I had. The staff could not have been any politer about this situation and they apologised profusely for the inconvenience. But it was an inconvenience, and I wasted precious time during my stay.
All in all, it's a lovely hotel but for the reasons highlighted above coupled with the price of the rooms, I probably won't stay here again.

DearJelliekat, Good morning and warm greetings from Grand Central. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts following your recent stay, your feedback is invaluable to us. Thank you also for your kind words about the hotel and staff. I was however very sorry to read about the issues in the bathroom and for your room not being serviced during your stay. This is a minimum brand standard and should have been carried out. I will be meeting with our Executive Housekeeper to share your feedback and to try and ensure it doesn't happen again. Please accept my apologies for the delay in signing dinner to your room. This should have been resolved instantly and I will be looking into this with our Front of House team. I do hope that despite your experience on this occasion that you will give us another opportunity to do better next time. Thanks again for your time. Kind regards Jake

My husband, 24 year old son, and I just stayed one night in a deluxe family (triple) room, which had one king bed and one single (twin) bed. Our room was on the 19th floor so we had a stunning view over city hall and beyond out to the port. The room was quite spacious, the beds extremely comfortable, and there was a wonderful bathroom with both a tub and a shower (that had a rainshower head as well as a hand wand). The lovely toiletries were provided in ample supply, towels were quite fluffy, and there were 3 wonderful terry robes and slippers as well. We went up to the Observatory lounge for a drink at night and enjoyed the view from there too (cocktails were good but quite pricey). The breakfast buffet was extensive--you could order omelets, but there were also scrambled and fried eggs, an array of breakfast meats, delicious porridge with Bushmills whiskey(!), cream, and honey to add in, fruits, yogurt with fruit compotes of various flavors, and a range of breads, pancakes, etc. The main hiccup in our stay was the wait to be seated at breakfast, and then trying to order coffee. It seemed that everyone else had staff serving them, but we had to chase down staff multiple times to order a small pot of drip coffee, and then a latte for each of us. I had to ask 3 times for the lattes; it must have taken 15 minutes to finally be served. Not sure why there was such a disconnect--maybe because I asked for a decaf latte? But this was surprising given how many staff were in the room setting and resetting tables, serving other customers, etc.
We also had an issue setting the code on the safe so had to request an engineer to unlock it for us. He could not have been nicer (apparently this happens often; the directions are somewhat counterintuitive).
Overall we had a wonderful stay!
For folks considering this hotel, fyi, it is quite convenient to the Europa Bus Centre as well as various bus stops that are arranged around City Hall. The city bus payment system is a little confusing; apparently you can use contactless payment with your phone for the Ulsterbus and Metro bus systems, but not with the Glider, which we used to get to/from the Titanic museum (highly recommended!). Getting to a train that goes to Dublin is more of an ordeal, since the new Belfast Grand Central Station is not yet in operation, the old Great Victoria Street Station is permanently closed, and NI Enterprise trains to Dublin no longer leave from Lanyon Place. So our choices were to take a bus, taxi, or walk to Lanyon Place, then get a substitution bus (for the train) to Newry, then board an Enterprise train there to Dublin. I'll report on this trip separately, but in short it was an unmitigated disaster. Until Grand Central Station is open and offering trains directly to Dublin, I'd recommend taking a Dublin Express or other bus instead from the Europa Bus Centre. See the Translink site for updates.

This hotel is beautiful it’s a shame about the service. Service levels are below par and definitely not 5 star standard. At check in the hotel tried to charge more than the booking cost. Then no towels were changed in the room on either day of a two night trip, no toilet roll or toiletries were replaced. We ran out and called reception and still no towels were changed or toilet roll was given. Room service is a £10 tray charge, it took one hour from calling room service to get the food and drinks were changed but missing. They couldn’t give an itemized bill after checking out so god k owe what I had to pay for but I was assured that I was not charged for the drinks?!? The pizza ordered from room service on the Friday was still left in the room on the floor on Sunday morning, we ended up putting the tray outside. I complained when I got home and no one had called or responded to my email. I really didn’t want to put a bad review without giving the hotel a chance to explain. In my opinion I wouldn’t book this hotel ever again and would advise people to book elsewhere. This hotel deprived a room of 4 women of the basic amenities. There is no excuse for the levels of service at a 5 star hotel. We had three rooms and all received a similar level of service.

Rarely do I feel the need to write reviews but this one left me and my wife very frustrated.
Arrived early and was very pleased with the service, room was available. Was told via email that breakfast was an additional £20 per person, was then told at reception that the actual cost if you book the day before is £15, which I agreed to add - next morning there was no note of this and I refused to pay the £20. The hotel knew that this was a very special occasion for us both, and I was very keen for this to be an amazing experience.
Got to the room, nothing special for £250, the shower head was so full of mold that the water was shooting out in all directions, no bath matt and some suspect bath mold along the bottom of the shower - not what you expect!
4am, loud noises from the water pipes that were consistent every single time someone used their toilet or shower, this was a total disgrace!!! When raised at reception at 7am I was simply told "i am really sorry".
The service in the Seahorse Restaurant was also poor, seated at a dirty table with old glasses and stains, at the very least, clean the tables if you are going to charge what you do!
Lastly, the Observatory, most of the staff bar one were great, the lady that seated us had no manners, was clearly frustrated and spoke to me in such a tone that we nearly left.
In all I spent over £600 at this hotel it was the worst Anniversary for my and my wife that we have had. I left an item in the room, still waiting for someone to call me back and that's 3 days ago!
Avoid!

Bottom line - this is a long way from the five star pretensions and particularly the prices the Grand Central charges its customers.
To be clear, if it was charging three star prices it would be great value - well located, good size rooms being its positives. It could get away with four star prices based on solid if unspectacular breakfast, distinctive roof top bar, and friendly staff. So, its fine for a business or tourist trip to Belfast city centre and, to be generous, might just about merit a 'good' 4/5 at competitive four star pricing.
But it is nowhere near five star, except for the pricing. No gym or leisure facilities at all. Irritatingly inconsistent lifts - which is important for 23 floors, Similarly inconsistent and almost grudging room cleaning. Atrociously designed breakfast cafe and way of working that enforces excessive queueing at every stage of an OK but uninspiring and totally repetitive +/-£20 buffet breakfast. Similar design and operational failures at the roof top bar which makes service difficult to get and paying an endurance test.
Staff are trying but they seem to be understaffed in general and this is exacerbated by operational procedures that both rather insult the customer (we are not trying to get one over the hotel!), and just create needless logjams rather than a seamless pleasant experience.
Additional five star facilities, more generous staffing, and good leadership and management review of business processes could save it, and I wish them well if they take this review in that spirit and act on it.

Just back from an overnight stay which was definitely not worth the money @ £198 for room only. The room was basic we have stayed in as good in Premier Inns for half the price and no mattress protector on bed marks on the ceiling and walls. The tea tray was minimal with 2 small biscuits along with tea and coffee.
The observatory Bar is over rated and over priced and lacking in atmosphere.
The only good thing about the hotel is location. It is close to city amenities and train/bus station but there are other hotels near by which would easily be on par with this hotel at a fraction of the price.
Sorry won't be rushing back.

Only rated 1 because 0 is not an option.
I’d be fascinated to know the process by which this hotel earned a five star rating unless it is by self-assessment.
Stayed here for 5 nights on business with four colleagues who (unfortunately for them) stayed 6 nights. So I guess a total bill of about £6-7,000.
Room was adequate, though the “king-sized” bed was two singles pushed together. No coffee machine, just a kettle with sachets of Nescafé and no mini-bar/fridge. (Hey Grand Central, the 80 called, they’d like their standards back).
Good luck switching the (basic and small) shower on without scalding and/or drenching yourself. Tile grout mouldy in the corners and sink was chipped. (This was a 22nd floor room that was supposedly “deluxe”).
4 lifts to service 23 floors. Don’t need to say any more on this topic.
Thankfully I didn’t book breakfast. Feedback from people who did was that it was a very average buffet (I would expect hot food to order at a supposedly 5* hotel plus premium buffet selections) with a chaotic queueing system.
Service overall was terrible. Individual staff members were friendly and helpful up to a point, but clearly there is not sufficient staffing for a hotel of this size. Unacceptable levels of waiting for (overpriced) drinks in the rooftop bar, needing to request bills multiple times etc.
Housekeeping is erratic (again I suspect severe understaffing). Room sometimes not serviced until late afternoon. Towels not replaced on one occasion and needed to ask multiple times for this to be rectified. Removed the counterpane and cushions from the bed on arrival as I suspect they are never/rarely cleaned by hotels. But on this matter the staff outdid themselves to find my various hiding places and ensure they were returned to the bed every day (!)
Despite having changed my booking from 6 to 5 nights months in advance (with confirmation in writing from the hotel) I was charged for the original 6 nights.
Positives - good location (though loads of hotels in the same area); decent amount of plug sockets/charging points in the room.
Belfast is a great city. The restaurants are top class and very good value. I think there might be a level of complacency amongst its ‘high end’ hotels. For sure the Grand Central feels like it is undermanned and under managed with a cavalier attitude towards its guests. I’ve had better service at a Premier Inn for less than half the price.

We requested an accessable room and the shower and bathroom was well equiped with a bench and hand rails. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable and the room well furnished. The hotel was well located and an easy walk to local attractions in the city. We ate at the hotel restasurant and the food and service were very good. You'll need a taxi to do the mural tour and get to the Titanic exhibit, both of which we did.

I stayed at the Grand Central Hotel in September during my three-week trip to Ireland. When I checked into my room, I noticed a sewage smell and found fecal matter in the toilet. I tried calling the front desk, but the phone didn't work, so I had to go downstairs to speak to someone. A single housekeeper came with just a towel to clean my room, but I told her she didn't have the proper supplies. She spent about 5 minutes in the bathroom, and although it was cleaner, the smell remained. I reported the issue to the front desk again, and they said they would inform the head housekeeper to resolve the situation, but it was never resolved during my 4-day stay. I requested a different room, but they said they were fully booked and couldn't relocate me. I wasn't able to cancel my reservation and move to a different hotel, so I had to endure the sewage smell for four days. Despite the hotel's excellent location, I would only recommend it to solo travelers who are willing to bring their cleaning supplies.
