Booked online. I arrived and stood outside the door for 15 minutes, before being let in by another guest. Went to check in and reception was closed. The number to contact went to voicemail. Waited 40 minutes with another guest in the same situation. Left. Never seen the like.
We booked this place due to its central location and to be close to where our freinds were staying. When we arrived, no one at all was working...other people had to let us in the door. They promptly told us that they were told that the hotel over-booked their reservation and that they did not have a room. We called the number at reception and we were also told the same thing and the OYO rep said there was nothing he could do for us citing that we had to call Booking.com for assistance, even though they had already taken our money. They were very rude and it frustrated us that they would not help us. We called Booking.com and were on hold for close to 40 minutes trying to sort out somewhere else to stay. OYO booked us alternate accomodation, but when we got there, it was miles away from the center and in the mountains!!!! Now, the place they sent us to was beautiful, but come on...we wanted to stay near our friends in the center of Belfast, hence the first booking. We got no help at all from OYO and Booking.com were far from helpful either. We had to spend a fortune in taxis to get back and forth with no offered assitance with transport. Overall, a terrible experience that ruined our weekend getaway. We will not be booking any OYO properties ever again. From what the receptionist at the new booking told us, OYO had massively overbooked this hotel and there were many people that suffered the same fate as we did. Terrible service, really.…
Very strong smell of stale cigarettes smoke throughout the room. The cleanliness was quite poor. Dust everywhere, hairs on bathroom floor, yellowy scum around the shower. The shower thermostat didn't work so water was either boiling hot or freezing cold. Saw no staff the whole time we were there. Walls were very dirty. Close to centre and cheap but wouldn't stay again.
I'm sure this place is probably fine to stay for the price per night that is if you can check in and access your room. We had 4 nights booked and paid. Received the standard courtesy email of "We look forward to welcoming you" the day before via booking.com. Arrived to check in on a Sunday. Place locked up and nobody at reception. Eventually another resident let us into the building. At the reception there was a sign that advised to call a number if reception is not manned. Called the number and no answer. Continued calling over the space of the next 2 hours. Rang out each time. Sent 2 emails with no response. Called another UK call centre number we found online for the OYO who also tried contacting the Belfast number while I was on hold but could not get through either. He was also unable to give me any access to our room or check me in. So we continued waiting at the property. After waiting roughly 3 hours and asking another resident how they checked in he advised that usually no one would be there until Monday morning. So... we had to book another place at last minute even though we had paid 4 nights at OYO. Eventually someone called me back that evening from the OYO and apologized, said a refund would be issued. As of today 4 days later still no refund and haven't heard anything back yet from property. I understand that a reception is not always open that's why usually the property might email you a code for the door or offer self check in service. We did not get that here for some reason. Just seems like a very impersonal corporate chain of accommodation. Surely there's a list of bookings each day where some member of staff makes sure they can check in.…
Room was very small,it was dusty, the dust was lying thick on the tv, shower thermostat wasn’t Working it was absolutely roasting ,shower was stinking, hadn’t been cleaned, hair inside the shower. Would never stay here again. We moved hotels after one night!
Very disappointed with our stay this time, the place has become very grubby and we never saw one staff member in the entire 3 days. Also the furniture has changed from our previous stay and is not as comfortable and doesn’t match the pictures. I don’t think I would stay here again...
Four of us ( family ) spent 3 nights at the Old Bank, recently. Our stay was blighted by the noise made by other " guests " on the first night ( Saturday ) keeping us all awake until 4.30 am. The rooms were spotless and had plenty of fresh towels. Not sure this is the type of establishment for us. We would rather be greeted by a friendly receptionist and not have to struggle with entry codes for the main entrance and rooms. The locality was very convenient for us to visit family who were just 4 minutes away by car.
Would highly recommend staying here if you come to Belfast. The place is spotless and bright and airy. Well equipped with dishes, plates, cutlery etc. Snacks and drinks in room on arrival. Would definitely come back.
The price was reasonable as we did book last minute, the room was clean, basic essentials for a self catering room, the bed sheets had lipstick or some kind of marks on, although when we rang reception they were changed plus fresh towels we're given, the shared kitchen had no hot water as the tap was broke, there was only 1 fork in the cutlery draw, there was no one at the reception desk, if there was any issues you had to ring a number, the wrong code to enter the building was given to my partner via email & the place wasn't easy to find. Overall the room was double glazed, warm, little noise apart from traffic, local shops.
I read old reviews from here but thought I’d make my own judgment and I’m glad I picked here. I’ve stayed in five stars that couldn’t even deliver a clean room. The old bank was a fantastic stay and extremely clean, bathroom, towels, sheets spotless clean, great shower pressure and hot water - you just need to figure out how to adjust the shower nozzles to get the perfect temperature. I got a triple room for the extra space had a wide window street view so I could see my car. (Parked directly across the street as it’s free parking and not a bus lane)! Once you enter the building with your code everything is pretty simple. I loved the vending machine downstairs great idea 💡if you’re thirsty in the middle of the night.😁 you have several channels on tv and NETFLIX 🤣 and free WiFi. Location is minutes of the Crumlin Jail, 20 minutes walk from city center, 5 minutes in taxi and the bus stop is directly outside the building. Shops around the area too. I like to visit Belfast yearly I never knew this place existed but I would definitely stay here again for the price as it was really reasonable. The only negative thing I could say is checking out at 11am 😩 12 would have been better😇 But other then that the old bank was perfect in my opinion 👌🏼while leaving our room there was 3 cleaners outside all extremely friendly full of smiles and greeted us well. Was nice to see as it was the first thing we seen as we opened the door with hangover heads 😃 I didn’t see any lifts so if you’ve lots of luggage you’ll probably have to take the stairs. Hope all this info helps other travelers 🧳 …
