Travelers' Choice
The Norfolk Arms hotel has a wealth of history and heritage. It’s a charming Georgian Coaching Inn, built over 200 years ago by the 10th Duke of Norfolk. It soon became the local meeting place and a popular resting spot for weary travelers. To this day the Arundel Society for the Prosecution of Thieves and Felons still hold their annual Dinner at this Arundel Hotel - a tradition which dates back to the 18th century. The Norfolk Arms hotel is set under the battlements of Arundel Castle and has an atmosphere of traditional permanence, the kind that prevails in all the gracious buildings that make up Britain's colorful heritage.

This is a real gem of a hotel in the centre of the lovely town of Arundel. It’s a rabbit warren of old rooms furnished with antique furniture and prints. Each one is different but all have been done with flair. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves excellent food at sensible prices. The bar has a real fire and a good selection of real ales. The full English breakfast has really good quality bacon and sausages. What’s not to like, especially as the room rates are very reasonable.

Welcoming, charming and friendly staff. Comfortable bed in newly renovated room with new bathroom. Dinner and breakfast in two different cosy rooms. I will definitely recommend the Norfolk Arms to others and I am looking forward to returning before long.

Lovely cosy room (27) beautifully presented with great view of the Castle - very caring and attentive staff - everything we could have hoped for and more from a 2 day break deal. We will return as only scratched the surface of delightful Arundel!

My partner and I came to stay at the Norfolk Arms for a few nights at the beginning of January to celebrate my birthday - this was our first time in Arundel…… WOW! We thought the hotel was beautiful, quaint, warm and full of charm. Also our feature room was exceptionally clean. And the location could not be better (views of the castle from our bedroom was a lovely surprise). The staff were fabulous, friendly and really could not do enough for us. Each day we had a lovely breakfast brought to our room for a small extra charge and a delicious dinner most nights in the hotel restaurant (many places seem to be shut in Arundel this time of year so our only option, but certainly did not disappoint). Also fabulous evening drinks in front of a roaring fire in the Snug Bar. The hotel and town seemed very quiet - which was lovely for us - but perhaps this is an unfortunate sign of the times. We have visited many hotels over the years (good and bad) and in our option the Norfolk Arms is right up there with the best. And at a very reasonable price too. Thank you so much for a magical stay - we will certainly be coming back for a return visit.

The only hot meals we had on a Xmas break were breakfasts. When asked by the servers "is everything alright" our comments about food being lukewarm were met with a smile & ignored. We had to specify our breakfast time (no problem), but were forced to eat main meals at a set time that was very early. Quite a contradiction - & meals might have been at a suitable temperature if they were staggered. Fixed mealtimes were not made clear in the Xmas brochure - would the kitchen staff survive in a proper restaurant?

Dear qchri. Thank you for your review. I'm disappointed to read that your food was served as lukewarm and we will look into this on our Christmas debrief. As you booked a Christmas package all main meals were served with the other guests on the same package which was explained in the emails prior to arrival. Wish you all the best. Kate
