The cocktail lounge is beautiful. The afternoon tea was absolutely lovely...and service outstanding. We love trying out somewhere new each time and this has topped all the others. Also we called to confirm the booking and just mentioned it was a treat for my daughters birthday and they bought out a special brownie (her favourite) for her which was very thoughtful. Would love to go again!!
We stayed here for two nights 5th and 6th September in a Luxury King room on our 10 day driving holiday. The Hotel is beautiful with modern fittings. Breakfast was continental. They are situated a short bus ride into the centre of Birmingham and the Bullring Shopping Centre. There are three pubs/restaurants within walking distance for dinner.
Having been here before and very thoroughly impressed I suggested this for one of my friends 40th birthdays. Unfortunately I was disappointed, 3 of our party arrived and were seated at the bar and served with drinks, 2 of us were told we had to wait in the hallway with no drinks and not even give a drinks menu. This was booked as a party of 5 so if our table wasn’t ready we should all be able to enjoy a drink before we started our afternoon tea. When our table was ready we were rushed past our friends at the bar to be seated! Once at the table 4 of us ordered Prosecco and the 5th member of our party ignored (she doesn’t drink fizz) 2 of us had to ask twice for a cocktail so that our friend could order a drink. The afternoon tea was lovely and drinks were very nice but unfortunately I don’t think I will be coming here for a while.
Have been to the Edgbaston many times before and really enjoyed afternoon tea. This time, however, we were very disappointed to be put in the cellar bar. This room is very dark and claustrophobic with VERY low ceiling. We had taken friends this time and told them how lovely the room was (upstairs). We were very disappointed that we couldn't go upstairs as they were too busy. My husband is partially sighted and could not read the menu or see his food in the subdued light. I think it is time to try other places for afternoon tea!
Booked ahead as have often tried “on spec” and been disappointed. Tea is served in the wonderful stylish and comfortable cocktail bar. Greet wasn’t the warmest, bordering cold from the receptionist however team in bar were excellent. You can choose a number of options with the food side all being the same eg tea £25pp add champagne £33pp and so on. We chose the Mosley option and had wonderful Irish coffee in addition to tea. If your not a tea drinker you can order coffee instead and Iced tea is also an option. Have to say pricing is excellent and very good value. Nice choice of savories and if you have any dietary requirements these are accommodated without fuss. Food is delicate, tasty and well presented. You wont leave hungry. Lovely selection of sweet treats and warm scones with clotted cream and home made jam. Parking available on street 2 hrs free or over the road at pay and display. Plan for 2-3 hrs, you’re not rushed. Lots of other nice bars around the area to explore. Would highly recommend. Have also visited in the evenings for cocktails and again excellent choice and service.
