Overall I rate this hotel very highly. The room was spacious and well equipped. Bath and shower excellent. The food in Forrelles restaurant is totally outstanding. Really top notch. Possible Michelin star fine dining. The tasting menu was sensational. However, this is sadly let down by the poor quality of waiting and bar staff. It’s a travesty that this chef, who in my opinion is right at the very top of his game, is sadly let down by the kind of service you would expect in a pub. This is probably not the fault of staff. I feel the issues could easily be resolved with some proper quality training. The decent room and quality of food will carry us back here again though.
Here with 3 other couples for Ludlow Christmas Fayre (it was cancelled unfortunately due to storm Arwen but that didn’t affect our stay). Very friendly and obliging staff and we were made very welcome. They accommodated us in the Bistro at short notice which was very much appreciated. We will hopefully be back next year to try to get to the Christmas Fayre.
Room 25 has a dirty sofa , dirty cups even under rim of toilet! The lock in the bathroom was difficult Got locked in a few times so glad we were not on own! The lift did not work so having problems walking up and down the stairs was a nightmare! It was our friends birthday so she tried ringing the Spa for a treat but no answer! We complained to the manager but it was a waste of time! They seem to be short staffed too. We would not recommend and will not be going there again!
Pleasantly situated hotel. We had a problem with the beds which was resolved quickly and efficiently. The food was excellent; served competently by attentive staff. A more extensive menu in the main restaurant would have been appreciated. It seems strange that the 'starter menu; has several different courses that are not offered on the main menu which featured only four. Overall a very pleasant four days. Thank you.
Exceptional food ....however let down by sloppy service.....staff unable to describe the food they are serving and regailing us with how they get the sauces wrong....I suspect this is seen as engaging with the customer but this should have a Michelin star but will not with this level of service...nice people ,amazing food ....just go with the flow.....
