#15 of 35 hotels in Reading
What makes us a cut above the rest is the way we do things. We have designed the pentahotel Reading to be simple and pentastylish, to provide excellent value for money, create a pentafun and relaxed space with service that is welcoming and personal. All of this not only makes us the newest hotel in Reading, but also your neighbourhood lifestyle hotel. The perfect place to eat, drink and relax is the pentalounge, our „lifestyle lobby“ that multi-functions as a reception, bar, and cafe, perfect as a neighbourhood hub. And we have spacious air-conditioned rooms each feature a 38-inch flat-screen TV with Google Chromecast connection and free in-room movies. No matter what brings you to Reading, there is always time to have a look around. There are the medieval Abbey ruins, historic rivers and of course the majestic Thames Valley countryside to inspire you. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy you could also try out some of the local restaurants or pubs or the fabulous shopping malls.

Tried to email reservations for an enquiry but they did not respond. Emailed Glyn the Manager and he responded once, but not to further emails. We stayed on a Saturday and apparently computers were down so they had to escort everyone to their rooms which I guess you can't blame them and the staff were friendly and apologetic. Sunday morning breakfast was ridiculous - it was like they didn't know how many guests were staying there! Had to wait a long time for eveything to be replenished! On checking out, we were charged £11.40 at Q Park despite being told it should be £10 for 24hrs! Emailed the manager regarding this and no response! Excellent customer service - NOT!

Sleep Quality

Stayed on Saturday night at Pentahotel Reading. Reception had lost all bookings on arrival because their computer system was down so on check in I repeated that I had asked via email for a quiet room as we knew we would want to get to sleep around 11pm. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor. We could hear the adjacent very busy main road but it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately as we were starting to fall asleep a very loud party started in the next but one room. I phoned reception and they agreed to move us to a quieter room on the second floor 222. She couldn't give us a key because the system was still down but that didn't particularly matter we just had to ask them to let us back in after breakfast. Here's when the trouble really started. Oh my goodness, that road noise is colossal. My daughter was convinced that there was a window open but unfortunately there wasn't, plus you heard everything going on in the street below and Reading on a weekend is party central. We really didn't know whether or not to pack up again and drive home but it was midnight. We put cotton wool in our ears and hoped for the best. In summary the staff were nice, the Q car park nearby is reasonable, £11 24hrs with their discount, breakfast fair, shower room good but decor and carpet condition patchy. For us to stay again they would need to install triple glazing and then I would be nervous.

Like most places, this hotel isn’t perfect. BUT, if you have a word, with any member of staff, your issue WILL be sorted out, or a compromise offered. We experienced a few things that needed attention but can honestly say, we left feeling very happy and were well looked after by the happy, attentive and caring staff, which really do make the place. Thank you all.

Horrendous noise in bedrooms. When we first entered the bedroom we thought the maids had left a window open. Nope. It was the dual carriageway below. Windows closed. We thought - well, perhaps it’ll get quieter at night. It didn’t. They need triple glazing. Couldn’t sleep. Like sleeping outside in a tent next to the M1. Won’t return.

We came here for a stop over and from the minute we checked in Alexandro ensured our stay was comfortable and well hosted. I will definitely book here again, when we're in Reading. I made a room service call in the early hours of the morning and the staff catered to my need instantly. Good job!
