Was glad to find a cheap place to stay on a Friday night as we were going for a gig at the O2 Islington. Six of us fitted in a room with two three-high bunk beds. Room was clean, as were shared toilets/showers. There was a large kitchen area downstairs as well as place to hang out and a smoking area - not really our scene, but great if you fancied meeting other international backpackers!

I don’t like leaving solely negative reviews if at all possible so I’ll start with the good points. The location is brilliant and the hostel really is a ‘home from home’. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are friendly. There is a large kitchen and tea and coffee is free. The building is nice and warm and well lit. The downside was that in the room that I stayed, the window is impossible to shut. This is because the frame and window ledge are warped and bent out of shape. This means that despite numerous efforts, there was a 1inch gap where the window cannot be closed. The street noise kept me awake all night. There are earplugs available but really this needs to be sorted out. It’s a good job we are having a mild winter as any colder than it is would make the room freezing! Other than that it’s a nice place and as I say the location is brilliant.

Hello Caroline, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. So happy to hear you loved our central location and welcoming, 'homey' atmosphere, we love it too! I'm sorry that the window was difficult to close, upon reading this review we have checked the window and were able to close it, it just takes a bit of a push in this cold weather! I really apologise that it affected your stay and hope we can have you as our guest again in the future (we will help with the window next time :) ). All the best, Georgia.

I stayed here just for one night whilst I was going to a nearby gig. I usually stay in hotels (premier inn, travelodge etc) when I visit cities. This near to Christmas, all other places to stay were nearing £200 which I could not afford. As a lone female, who hasn’t travelled much, I was initially wary of staying in a hostel so opted for a private room. The location was amazing and the building felt secure. The gentleman at reception showed me around upon arrival and was very friendly and put me at ease. My room was basic (as expected!) but was clean, secure and the bed was very comfy! I have absolutely no complaints for what I paid! There were two shared bathrooms on the top floor where my private room was. The water was warm and everything worked (taps, shower, toilet flush, etc). The building was quiet at night and I wasn’t awoken by others being noisy (which is more than can be said for some hotels I have stayed in!). London traffic noise from the road woke me in the morning but again, this was to be expected! I should have just popped a pair of earplugs in! Overall, I had a lovely stay at Prime Backpackers and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Luxury hotel? No- but I wouldn’t have expected it to be. It had everything I needed for a brilliant price!

You basically get what you've paid for. A bunk bed in an old house placed in a very nice area of London. If you're not too fusspot about human smell or the fact of sleeping with 12 other unkonwn people at the same room, PBA is your place. The staff is great, kind and helpful. Common room is huge and very well equipped. If something brings me again to that area of London, I'll be back for sure. The only drawback is that you won't sleep until late, since it's hard to keep asleep due the bunk bed screeching and door slamming.

I have been visiting hostel for years. I must say that after bad period it is improving in terms of hygiene and staff. It is a hostel with spacious common area for cooking and I believe it must hard to maintain the kitchen area clean all the time. However it's still better than in past. I would still appreciate if staff can keep an eye on hygiene of the fridge. None of them I would be happy to eat from. Also cigarette smoke is comming to kitchen from outside, people do not close doors. Hostel is still too much smoking friendly but fortunately I so I did not smell marijuana anymore. Only access to toilet from my 12 people dormitory was walking two floors down for one near kitchen. Lot of noice from road but this is unavoidable. I got very sick because people were opening windows fully at night. No rules for this. Also I didn't like staff accessing dormitory at late nights with torch to solve some locker issue which wasn'y urgent. It happened few times Otherwise staff is very nice and helpful, they have team buildings often so I hope it will improve to better very soon.
