A good Travelodge, easy enough to get to via the DLR (Pontoon Dock) to Stratford International and London City Airport. We booked this hotel for a Foo Fighters gig at London Stadium on 20 June 2024. The staff were very attentive, interacting with guests, particularly the lady on duty for breakfast, she was busy but still helpful to all the guests. The reception staff were very helpful when we asked if we had a room with a walk-in shower we didn't initially but they moved us to one. The room (204) was very comfortable albeit with the DLR running outside so we had to close the window for a little time, while it was running, and put the fan provided on, the bathroom was a little snug but perfectly functional. The only downside was the sink was blocked and took ages to drain out, we were only at the hotel overnight and hardly spent any time there but we reported this to reception on departure and they apologised and said they would get it sorted out. Otherwise a great spot to stay for any event at the London Stadium. Be careful though if you get any supplies from the Nisa store on the way to the hotel from the DLR, they gave a receipt for a certain amount but then charged £1 extra on debit transaction, a bit sneaky!!

The rooms are spacious with enough storage space and very lovely sized beds. However, it can be very difficult to get towels changed or room service to get your room cleaned if you’re staying for 3 nights. I left the sign outside my door from 7am to get towels changed but no one ever came. Wi-Fi is also not free. Another issue I had was how the keycards were not always working. It was an inconvenience for me whenever I was entering my room or trying to enter the building when it was late at night. Luckily there was always someone at the desk whenever I was outside and needed to be let in. However, I just wish it was more reliable. My partner and I also stayed at the London City Airport Travelodge. It was very noisy due to the planes and quite a walk from the station. Other than that my stay was pleasant and does the job. The bed was comfortable, except for pillows which felt like I was sinking and my neck always felt hurt in the morning.

Everything about staying at Travelodge was first class. The staff were very friendly. My room was pristine as was the bath/shower room. The shower is possibly the best I have ever used and the pressure and heat out of the large shower head was tremendous.

Dan who prepared our food in the restaurant was equally friendly and humourous and the quality and price of the food and drinks was very reasonable. I stayed for one night as London City Airport Travelodge was a short taxi ride (approx £17.00) to the O2 Arena where TOOL were in concert😃🤘🏼.

Overall a great place to stay and near to the O2 Arena and London City Airport. 💯

The signal for the WiFi was very weak. I stayed at the lower ground section of the hotel and the corridor was not good as the carpet was drenched in water, it was so bad that every step I took, there was splashes of water. On the first night, me and my friend waited at least 2 hours for our food. On Saturday and Sunday, it took an hour to get our food. Service at the cafe was not up to speed. When i was having breakfast before checking out, i was wanting the toilet so i went to the toilet near the reception and when i went in, the toilet was broken and there was a lot of mess down the toilet and it was halfway up the toilet and it smelled horrific. The heater in our room didn't work so when we came back from excel, the room would be cold. In the bathroom of the hotel room, the dispensers were in the wrong place. The hand wash dispenser was in the shower and the hair and body wash dispenser was at the side of the sink, not even in the shower. On one night when I had dinner with my friend who i was staying with, we had our food and we were full so there was some food left on our plates. A waiter was continuously questioning why we didn't eat the rest of our food and gave us very daggering looks. The menus were not up to date with prices and products they had available. For instance, I asked for a passion fruit Martini and on the menu, it said £8.25 but I got told it was £8.79 on another menu. I was given the incorrect amount of change back (was only given 21p instead of £1.21) then when I asked for pizza on the nights i was there, they said they didn't have any at all. There was not much of a selection for the breakfast and it felt limited when the breakfast is called "unlimited breakfast". When i was given my dessert with the custard in the serving jar, the spout was chipped. My friend had also got chipped plates too.

Although convenient for London City Airport we would advise against staying here.We would not recommend anyone to stay at a Travelodge for the following reasons.
1. Drink – Only able to offer one type of white wine (Chardonnay) even though the menu offered more. We were offered a Rose from a bottle with a cork, unfortunately the only method of opening the bottle would be to use a knife to push the cork into the bottle, something which we declined. We decided on a glass of red wine which was served at too high a temperature and no measure was used for pouring. When requesting a second glass of wine we had to use the original glass as we were told there were insufficient glasses.
2. Food – On attempting to order food we surprised as to the long list of items not available. This impacted on whole meals or parts of meals. There were no salads, no curries, no pasta or meatballs as there was no Arrabiata sauce, no bacon for the meat feast pizza, no coleslaw for the roast chicken, no nduja pizza, no peppers for any pizzas that required them. We ordered a ‘compromise’ pizza (meat feast without bacon) and a Buttermilk Battered Chicken Burger ( Crispy chicken coated in a delicious buttermilk batter with melted Monterey-Jack cheese. ) When these were served the pizza base was extremely hard and went cold very quickly and the burger was totally inedible ( a stale un-toasted bun, two thin slices of tomato, half a limp lettuce leaf with a flaccid piece of chicken with a very small amount of burnt cheese, fries that were cold and only part cooked.)
3. Room – Very cheap thin pillows which were not conducive to a comfortable nights sleep. The toilet seat was loose and dangerous to sit on.
We were surprised by the number of people returning to the hotel with bags of food shopping and take-away meals which they took to their rooms.

If I could rate this place a zero stars I would. I've stayed at one Motel Six back in the US and to say that it would be a five star compared to this place would be an understatement. The room we had backs up to the train tracks. We had multiple trains going by every 5-10 mins. That went on until after midnight.

We had no soap in the room. Even when we asked for soap, they said they'd get some for us. That never happened. When I was asking about the soap the front counter person apologized and stated he could give us a "small cup" of soap. During this interaction another patron who was very upset came down to complain that he had no toilet paper and asked why they didn't check the room for the essentials. The front desk person could only apologize.

The first night was very warm in the room. We had an air conditioner, but it was locked down with a code that the front desk wouldn't share. So we had to have the window open with the loud trains going by.

They only clean the rooms every six days. You have to ask for clean towels. In fact, I asked for clean towels and they never delivered.
They do have a breakfast buffet that costs £11 per person. It's not worth it.

All in all, I'd highly recommend looking for different accommodations.

Genuinely the worst stay at a hotel possible. We had booked for a long stay of a couple weeks and on arrival notified that we would have our sheets replaced/receive new towels and room cleaned every 7 days which we felt was unheard of when booking a hotel, we weren’t happy with this but they offered no alternative. Prior to the 7 days, we were requesting sheets and changing bedding as required and requesting towels and more tissue. After the 7 days, we didn’t have anyone come to clean the room or replace anything so had to make requests on 3 separate occasions before our room was looked at. Even with this, the room was not cleaned, only new sheets (which had a stain on it - not from us) and new towels. So we ended up requesting new sheets and changing the bedding ourselves.
Please note there is no fridge or microwave in the room.
If you mind hearing airplanes then perhaps rethink but that was not an issue for us.
The rooms do get very warm and stuffy. On arrival one evening the key to the room did not work, on investigation by staff they said the battery for the door had died (which happens, so fine) we were told it was resolved and let back in our room only to experience the same issue the very next day. A staff member confirmed the necessary steps had not been taken by the first colleague which resulted in the issue remaining. They resolved the issue.
There’s more we could say but in all, we just would never book to stay here again and would not recommend.

Checking into the hotel was simple and quick, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located right next to the airport (no noise can be heard from planes etc.

Rooms were clean and tidy, bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean also so no complaints there

The closest tube station is Pontoon Dock DLR just a 10min walk down the road there you can catch trains towards Canary Wharf, the city etc.
The hotel is very well located for ExCel centre (15min walk away)

Great value for money compared to the other hotels nearer to Canary Wharf which were extortionate, this hotel is a lot better option if you’re looking to be close to ExCel, The o2 Arena and Canary Wharf as they’re all a short train ride or walk away.

Overall impressed with our stay and would recommend, will stay here again if we’re ever in the area again

Unfortunately this was a bit of a disappointing visit. There were a number of issues, both in terms of facility and staff.

The building was unbearably hot throughout my four night visit, I was on the top floor. It was a known issue by staff and whilst there was a supply of fans available, I was only made aware when checking out. Desk staff stated that "I should have asked for one."

There were not enough staff on each evening to cover both the bar and kitchen requirements. Junior staff were overwhelmed and appeared untrained. The situation was made worse when the link between the bar till and kitchen printer failed, resulting in a 70min delay in food. An already unfortunate situation worsened when a more senior member of staff berated publicly the junior barman. On seeing my frustration of the whole event, I was approached by another customer who said this poor performance was a regular occurrence. He had already experienced this several days previously and stated that the local fast food chicken establishment whilst cheap and healthy was at least reliable - he ate fast food chicken in the public area of the hotel each night.

It's clear this location survives due to its proximity to the Excel event centre. It urgently requires a senior management intervention to bring it up to the standard expected of an average hotel experience.

The service was dreadful. No cleaning up the room or the bathroom or toilet (we were there 5 days), no making the bed. We were told that sheets get changed every 3 days and since covid, the beds aren't made any more (can't fathom what the connection is). You hang a sign on the door for a "top up", but that just meant extra towels left, which were changed daily, (completely unnecessary and doesn't happen in hotels of much higher standards), but on the other hand, the bins weren't emptied and the coffee & milk weren't refilled until we asked, (despite the "top up" sign), and we even had to ask for them to bring toilet paper which nearly ran out!! The hand soap dispenser ran out but as we only had one more day to stay, I couldn't be bothered to go down to reception again to ask for it, and used the soap dispenser of the bath (which felt as though it was also about to runout).
The staff were friendly and helpful but the stay was a disaster.
