The staff at Marriott Hotels are some of the best in the business and this was particularly the case at the London Marriott Canary Wharf. We arrived early after a tiring transatlantic flight. We left our luggage at the hotel and were told that we would have an upgraded room due to our Platinum status (didn't know we still had this status). When we returned in the evening the bellman had taken our luggage to our room and what a room it was! It was a suite that included a living area with floor to ceiling windows with an amazing view of central London. Staff were friendly and accommodating during our stay. Room and especially bed were super comfortable. Quiet, cool (great AC), and dark - very important after missing a night's sleep on a transatlantic flight.
Place is clearly unclean with the carpet just dirty as hell, bed had some hair in it. Shower head broken, water pressure similar to a drinking fountain. Internet is terrible, if you want good internet, extra 10 pounds. Couple next door to my room seemed to enjoy it, paper walls so could hear they had a fantastic Saturday night.
When we arrived, the check-in desk was extremely busy. So we stood back with our case and looked on. We were happy to just let the queue settle down. However, Fanny spotted us within a matter of minutes, obtained some details from us and made police conversation - she was lovely. Asking for our reason for being there (celebrating our wedding anniversary). Within 10 minutes we were shown to the desk where Martha dealt with us. She was fantastic too. So polite and courteous. Martha also went out of her way to make conversation with us all times we passed the check in desk. I have no idea why some travellers are upset with the staff on the check in desk. We’ve only experienced positive things. We stayed in the executive room which was clean and tidy. It also overlooked the quay (which is beautiful). My only issue with the room is repairs required in the bathroom (room 810). It has an extremely leaky shower hose that required replacing. Also, we had issues with the toilet flushing. It seemed to take a long time to refill (sometimes up to one hour) before it could be flushed again. We used the executive lounge a couple of times. The food was quite good. The desserts seemed to be frozen ones that had been left to defrost. Eclairs and small carrot cakes etc. These were nice enough. Although, the alcoholic drinks in lounge were included with the room rate - I didn’t find the drinks (particularly the beers) were topped up often enough. They were topped up once in the 4 hours we were there. This left us limited as to what we liked to drink. On our first evening we had a note slipped under our door from room service attempting to deliver something. We think something to do with it being our wedding anniversary. However, despite attempting to call room services numerous times and handing the note to the check in staff for re-delivery, it didn’t happen. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and even several hours after arriving said we would want to stay here again. It’s worth staying here for the fantastic, friendly staff. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks for making our anniversary such an enjoyable one.…
The sole reason for booking an Executive room in a tower hotel is the view. I have never been let down with it so badly. Expecting floor 6-7, received 1st floor with odd view! It is worth to point out, that they club lounge is very nice. Very friendly staff and good food options in the evening. The wines could definitely be improved though
I loved this hotel. The staff was wonderful, the room was large, and the view was fabulous. The way the room was arranged (twin bedded room) was perfect for two friends travelling together with plenty of room to lay out all of our things. There is a wonderful bar perfect for a casual meal after a long day of sightseeing. Would stay again, for sure, when back in London.
