Clink78 is a vibrant and energetic hostel set in an old courthouse where the punk band The Clash once stood trial. Taking its name from the famous anarchists, our very own night-time venue ClashBAR is the perfect spot to meet like-minded backpackers and share travel stories over a cocktail and a slice of pizza. Sleep in an authentic prison cell or chill out in the original courtrooms of this grand Victorian building for a one-of-a-kind experience. Find the hostel in King’s Cross, a buzzing cultural quarter and London’s main transport hub. From the train station, we’re just 10 minutes walk away!

Booked way back in Sept. I was looking at the clink78 website a few months before my trip they where closed i wrote them they said a major reno was underway and that for me not to worry they would be 100 per cent open by Mar. And they would move me to the other hostel in case they where not open. A 10 days or so before my trip I get an urgent notice from James that the hostel was not going to be open and to get back to him asap I wrote him back he said he would transfer me to the clink261 hostel a few blocks away. I wrote him back to say ok and asked a few questions. He then ignored all my emails regarding a transfer. So i booked at another place and wote him i have full flex cancel my booking. He ignored this request and went on to stonewall me. He finally wrote me back to say your booking was canceled and my credit card would not be charged cause I had full flex. The day of my vacation I get a notice from a booking site that you that clink78 was looking forward to me coming to a hostel that was closed and I had cancel my booking long before. I wrote them clink78 do not charge my credit card I canceled. After a long stone wall from James all was well. Then They charged my credit card full amount for the booking at the hostel that was closed. then Amanda Pauduan who is just as useless as James wrote me that they charged my card and will be giving me a refund. After returning to Canada they did indeed return my money minus about $20. I wrote back to Amanda I did not receive a full refund. Then after she stone walled me she said it was because of currency exchange is the reason my money was not refunded at she said it was the banks fault. Just a warning to anyone who does a booking with Clink they will stone wall you and jerk you around rather than do the right thing.

Stayed for 3 nights for a weekend in London. Stayed in a 8-bed mixed dorm, which was adequate albeit small. Bed was equipped with USB and power socket and reading lamp. However, the power went out on my last night and was unable to be sorted. Staff were great in trying to fix this though. The main positive of the hostel is the communal spaces which are excellent to work/chill in. There is also a large area downstairs where there is a kitchen to cook in (which I did not do during my stay) and a bar, with a great selection of drinks. I will return for the social aspects of this hostel.

Super social, the kitchen was alright, the staff are friendly and helpful. I'm a female solo traveller, stayed in a mixed dorm with 4 beds and felt perfectly safe. But this hostel is not for everyone, weekends are too noisy for sleep because of the (great) bar. The room ran quite hot even in February, lucky my bed was next to the window. Something that can't be excused however are the poor shape of the showers, dirty, and mattresses, worn down. But most backpackers are prepared for this. I would definitely stay here again for the social and fun, also why my rating is so positive. Let's just say I was one of the lucky ones, it's a gamble for sure.

I checked in tho this hostel in the afternoon, had no problem, after I went out to explore. When I returned to the hostel the night receptionist (Miguel) turned to be really aggressive, he prevented me to go back to my room, he called the Police and blacklisted me in this property. My reservation was prepaid for 3 more nights. I dont know what was the issue but this was really really scary

Very dirty, very unfriendly and found cockroaches in our room. The shower wasn't working like it should, the sheets and towels were dirty (found black hears on them!) The walls were very thin, you could hear everything from the other rooms. As well the breakfast was poor. Would definitely not recommend!!!

This hostile made me feel like I was in hell the wall next to my bed had mould on it and the windows were stained with mould. The bed sheets had yellow stains on them like that had not been clean. The fire alarm was full of brown gunk and the window barely opened.

Stayed two nights over the weekend with my friend. Had a really amazing time at Clink78. The bar was a lot of fun and we met a lot people. Definitely is the best hostel in London. You will not be bored here. I’d also like to give a big thank you to Ellie at Clink261 for helping us with our reservation. She was very professional whilst friendly and helped organize our request to make our stay even better. So definitely some recognition towards your amazing staff. We look forward to staying again.

A cool hostel in general, but not comfy at all. Even inside the rooms is very noisy, not to talk about the common areas, impossible to get anything similar to a peaceful environment. It is fair to say that it's a hostel for young people and you could expect so, but the rooms facing the loud streets definitely make it way worse. The beds are super uncomfortable and there's not enough room to stretch properly. My bed was located right in front of a heat radiator which I think it doesn't make any sense, since my head was burning while I had cold feet due to the, completely necessary, open window.

Quite a poor hostel that never made me feel welcome. The night events were poorly run from the quiz night to the beer pong tournament where only a certain amount of players could get involved and if you were not one of those players you could not get involved at all

Hi Damo, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you've had issues while you've stay with us and we apologize about inconvenience. Regarding events at the bar, we have different ones for each day of the week. And it always successful, that's the reason why it can be a bit difficult to make everyone plays (Beer Pong) and that's also why we recommend to our guests to go at the start time. Hope to see you again staying with us ! Have a nice day ! Aline

We were only supposed to stay at Clink for 4 days but ended up staying for two weeks as plans kept falling through. Majority of the time the staff were very friendly and super helpful. It’s in a super great position to get to almost anything as it’s only a 10 minute walk from kings cross. The kitchen is super spacious and the dining areas are large and plenty. The bar had events on every night designed so you can make friends and have a good time it’s a total vibe we loved it! And most of the doors in Clink have key card security so if you don’t have a key card (which you get when you check in) you can’t get in which makes you feel very safe. And they deal with complaints in house very quickly and efficiently. The couple downsides of Clink is the bathrooms and toilets are very subpar and kinda icky in smell and looks but ya know it’s a cheap youth hostel you get what you pay for. We just sucked it up and dealt with it. And sometimes people go hard at the bar and the noise travels so that can be annoying. Cleaners are kinda rude when they come in to clean they don’t really care about the noise they’re making and they just chuck the light on even if people are sleeping. But at the end of the day we really loved our stay at Clink and because we stayed so long we made friends with a lot of the staff and night security and we would happily go back and stay at Clink78 and would recommend it to anyone!
