We had a lovely relaxing spa day, such a lovely place and the staff were so friendly. We will be back as soon as we can. We had lunch in the blue smoke restaurant and it was beautiful, cant wait to come back!
We recently had a gorgeous stay at Low Wood staying the the Winander suites. The whole experience from start to finish at the hotel was flawless. The staff really do make it, cannot do enough for you at all. The spa is one of the best I have been to and even though the hotel was being plunged into a tier 4 halfway through our stay - the staff stayed positive. Our only downfall of the trip was the dining experience at the Blue Smoke on the Bay. The staff seemed inexperienced, forgetting starters, serving dinners that weren’t ordered. Being 8 months pregnant I asked for a well done steak which arrived swimming in blood. I asked for it to be cooked further and ended up waiting 40 minutes as I was forgotten about. With this and the forgotten starter, I didn’t really get to eat. Hoping to try one of the other restaurants next time.…
I have just returned from A Spa Day Experience at the Low Wood hotel & Spa that my wife had paid for as a Christmas present for me. She had been on one there a couple of weeks before Christmas and was so impressed that she wanted to take me. We had a relaxing massage followed by a lovely lunch before going to the Spa. We enjoyed the outdoor & indoor pool & hot tubs, wandering around with our supplied flipflops & dressing gowns. We then went to the relaxation area. We went to order a coffee & tea from a waiter and he told us he needed immediate payment for the items. As we had no means of payment on us at that time we said it did not matter. My wife was surprised & queried this with receptionist as the last time she was there she paid at reception when she left. The receptionist said it would not be a problem....but a bearded man standing by the reception desk just said NO! (We think he was the Spa supervisor) My wife asked if he expected her to have to go back upstairs to the locker get the card bring it back down and then take it back. He said YES! There was no apology for the unexpected action or reasonable explanation. My wife returned to me upset by the man's attitude. Whilst still in the "relaxation" room a waiter brought us a tea & coffee and wanted payment! We explained that we had no method of payment and had not ordered the items because of this reason. Suddenly the man from reception stormed in and demanded in an aggressive manner what the problem was. Again we explained that we had not ordered the items due to their immediate payment rule. He sarcastically said "oh thanks for ordering and not wanting them". By his aggresive and confrontational attitudee we thought he was going to throw us out of the hotel. But he only turned and left. This took place in front of other people in the "relaxation" room which made us embarrassed and upset my wife. It had also embarrassed the other guests who all left the room immediately after the incident. We went to reception & asked to see the Spa Manager. The bearded man actually went to get her no doubt giving her some poor excuse for our complaint. When the Spa Manager called Annabel came to speak to us she was sympathetic to our explanation of the situation & the unacceptable attitude of "that person" which had caused us embarrassment & upset my wife. We offered to pay for the wasted drinks but Annabel, as I said, was sympathetic and asked us to continue our spa day with complimentary drinks. We did accept a coffee & a tea which was ironic as this is what started the whole incident. But we felt we could no longer enjoy the experience which had been totally spoiled by this man's attitude which would have been more in line with a prison warder than a relaxation spa supervisor. He made us feel ashamed for not having payment in our dressing gowns, he embarrassed us in front of other spa guests & he upset my wife. He has let down the Low Wood hotel reputation with his disrespectful and disgusting attitude. We unfortunately will not be back and I hope no other spa guests have to suffer his utterly disrespectful & aggressive attitude & manner.…
Had a lovely 3 nights at The Low Wood. Excellent spa and facilities. Food is great and staff are wonderful with everyone. Rather pricey but do it if you can. It's a real treat. Close to Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside with many great walks and places to visit
Spa facilities are great and staff couldn't do enough to help. Food was pretty good. Breakfast could have been better - very watery eggs etc. but front of house were all very professional and lovely. Fantastic location and good choice of restaurants onsite but have to drive to get anywhere else as it's too far to walk. Massages and gym good.
