Travelers' Choice
The traditional hunting lodge style of the North Lakes Hotel & Spa, Penrith reflects the rugged beauty of the Lake District. Local stone, natural wood and open log fires create a genuine 'away from it all' environment in this exclusive 4-star resort hotel. FYR Grill is a unique experience as the chefs grill the finest steaks and fish on an open fire in the AA rosette restaurant. The fabulous spa has a 12m pool, with spa treatments, gym, hot tub, sauna and steam rooms. Outside the team tend to bug hotels and bee hives in the herb garden, and there’s even a dedicated pooch area for your four-legged friends. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.

Myself and my husband were bought this break away fot a Xmas gift.. What can I say about this place is from start to finish we felt at ease especially in the current climate. The spa was amazing.. We had 40 mins in the pool in our own lane with 2 metres away from other people. We had an evening meal the food was delicious. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel

Family of 4 stopover. Covid meant spa etc closed so it felt a bit less than its 4 star billing. Three beds one large multipurpose room (they convert them between meeting rooms and bedrooms) which felt a little odd but was clean and comfortable and great value. Very tasty evening meal in smartly refurbished bar, quiet (probably half empty because of pandemic), breakfast OK. Can't remember what it cost but not outrageous anyway. EV charging facility would be a good addition given proximity to motorway and scarcity of chargers in the North.

Dear dmdf, Thank you for taking the time to let us have your feedback about your stay. I will share your comments with the team and we will use them to keep working hard on delivering consistently good experiences for all our guests. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the not too distant future. You mention the spa was closed so I presume the stay must of been back in early July when we had first re-opened before spas were allowed to open. The great news is that all our spa facilities are fully open for everyone to enjoy once again. Kind regards Becky Head of Guest Experience

We found this hotel lovely and clean on arriving there. The reception and bar areas are lovely. The rooms aren’t quite so good, although our room was clean it was very dated and needs some money spending on it especially in the bathroom!! Terrible shower. We paid more for a bigger room and it was very small. I’d love to have seen their “cosy double!” The bed was two singles put together so not a big double bed as advertised, you expect this abroad but not in the uk. The reception we’re not great, they wouldn’t answer the phone when we tried to call down! The pool was lovely and relaxing Two people were allowed in the jacuzzi which is right but I was very annoyed when the swim teacher joined us too! Breaking the social distancing rules and to make it worse she was constantly on her phone which in a pool environment should not be allowed, especially where children are. As a swim teacher she should know better, a huge safeguarding issue. We were going to complain at the time but there was too many people around and I didn’t want to make a fuss.

Dear Carla Thank you for taking the time to let us have your feedback about your stay. I am very sorry to hear the swim teacher joined you in the jacuzzi which did not adhere to our social distancing procedures we have in place. I have personally spoken to the lady and informed her again of our procedures and the importance of following these. We do have a number of traditional style rooms as well as other modern rooms and all vary in style, size and décor. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the not too distant future as it sounds like you did enjoy the pool and style of the hotel Kind regards Becky Langley Head of Guest Experience
