My husband and I stayed here over the Christmas period December 2020 with our 2 King Charles cavaliers. The accommodation was bright and comfortable, we stayed in the doggie friendly cottage first floor. Spacious room with mountain and lake view. The hotel sits on Derwent Waters Borrowdale the views were stunning. Lovely location 2.5 miles from Keswick but lots of walks nearby and from the grounds of the hotel. Very friendly welcoming helpful team, couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Customer service was excellent, very observant staff walking round offering drinks checking everything okay; service was quick and efficient. Food was of good quality, presented well, reasonably priced and good portion size.Christmas dinner was fabulous. We just want to say thank you all for your service and great hospitality, keep doing what you’re doing we will definitely be returning. 👍😊 Julie & Gordon Robinson…
OK due to lockdown we went from a foreign holiday to a Scottish cottage to this after the aforementioned got cancelled. What a place. Dog came too and probably enjoyed the stay than us humans. Food is excellent its Michelin star quality. We ended up staying over for a 2nd night and dragged a pal up from Liverpool. All had a great time. Big shout out to "Vlad the Impaler" he kept the drinks flowing nicely. Hotel is in the prefect spot and so clean. We are defo looking to make this a regular visit.
Lovely hotel very covid safe, big thanks to dawn who went out of her way to chat & help whenever possible so friendly & welcoming to everyone all the best in the future we will definitely be back just because of dawn alone... also dog friendly very happy 😊
If you don't read any further - this hotel is over priced for what it provides! There is no finesse. We stayed in the new build at the rear of the hotel and to be honest it was not dissimilar to a Premier Inn. The tea/coffee was bog standard nescafe and typhoo (no other tea choices). Even the hairdryer was a mean spirited travel one! The wine glasses wouldn't be out of place in a 'Spoons - I know they are probably less likely to break but it doesn't set a good tone for your restaurant. The food was mediocre or bizarre and I had to ask for my order to be taken (really hate that!). They just ignored us! The breakfast veggie sausages the same that I buy in the frozen part of the supermarket. There are some lovely looking restaurants in Keswick so book a B&B and go there!
Well appointed room with views straight across the lake, lots of tea and coffee, really comfy bed, spotlessly clean. Really relaxed feel to this hotel, nothing was too much trouble with fantastic service. Excellent food, an absolute pleasure to eat breakfast whilst watching the birds feed at the many bird feeders situated by the huge windows looking out to the lake. Will certainly return and a big thank you to all at the hotel for a really lovely break.
