I recently stayed at the Hilton Ageas Bowl with my wife and 3 year old daughter for a couple of nights. We were visiting the Peppa Pig World for daughter and decided to stay at the hotel to have a short break. The staff were polite and professional specially Ellie at The Beefys restaurant who was friendly and gave us a few useful tips on what to see in the area. Alice - Front Office Supervisor was very professional - we ran into a few problems with the room - she came to listen and help straightaway and though things were tricky - she handled the issue professionally and tried finding solutions for us. Absolutely loved the cricket pitch view by the balcony - a must for any Cricket lover. Would love to come back again when an international match is on!!

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed for 1 night in July 2021 as our daughter is starting University in Southampton this year but hadn't really had the chance to see the city. I chose the hotel because of the availability of parking (we had a bad experience in Cardiff a couple of years ago!). When we arrived the corridor was full of trays that had been used for room service the night before, but as this was 3pm, I was worried that the room wouldn't be ready either. I didn't need to worry though as everything was clean and tidy in both rooms. It was a lovely quiet location for a stay and just what we were hoping for. We booked breakfast when we checked in and it was a pretty spectacular breakfast. Hot food was cooked frequently and brought out as soon as supplies were running low and there was a wide range of foods for those who didn't want a cooked breakfast too. All in all we were all very happy with our stay and intend to stay here again if our daughter gets in to Uni in August!

Overall a good hotel, nice location, clean and good breakfast but on check in the was no recognition of my gold status and when I asked if we could have access to the executive lounge, I was told it was only open for diamond members. After The lounge in Cardiff being shut last month and no access again in Southampton this time, we have decided to cancel the other two Hilton stays scheduled for the next few months. We have been long loyal clients of Hilton and will continue to enjoy the other brands within the Hilton family but can’t see the point of paying extra, when there is no additional benefits. We both feel we have a far better nights stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Exeter, for a fraction of the cost.

We spent the day in the spa and then checked in to the hotel - the room was adequate but our dining experience was extremely disappointing. Quality prices but not quality food - apologies given but no action taken. It was our 25th anniversary and the meal was a major part of our day.

We arrived Friday the 10th Sept and checked out Sunday the 12th. Over £500 was paid for the room and quite frankly we have seen better standards of housekeeping at premier inns. Check in wasn't particularly friendly, very paint by numbers quite robotic. There were several issues with the room but as we did not want to lose the view of the pitch we had to make do, little things such as a broken toilet roll holder, broken dial for the volume control in the bathroom a chipped and tired desk and a patio door that did not slide correctly. Patio furniture looking tired and shabby. We were not made aware at the time of booking that a local high school prom would be taking place all evening, the bar was closed for the event we would not have booked for this date had we known. To make matters worse we went to book treatments at the spa after trying and failing for weeks via phone and email to secure something only to be told that all treatment slots were fully booked and that the only option available was twilight spa that was £35 PER PERSON with no discount for hotel guests!? In the first instance the woman that greeted us was rather offish, apathetic and dismissive that's strike two for customer service. We later decided to book the twilight spa for Saturday night as we might as well make the most of it. Both of us are plant-based we called ahead of time before booking to make sure we could be accommodated and were told it would be possible. I had the same vegan burger (that was admittedly quite good) both evenings and my partner had to make do with the same and a sad, sorry cheese less pizza the Saturday evening as despite making the same request Friday the hotel had failed to procure some for the following evening? Would it have been overly difficult to send someone to buy a block or pack of vegan cheese at a local supermarket? Evidently so. We did plan on eating at the restaurant but decided on room service both nights, the first night was prompt and friendly the second not so much. It's 2021 put more vegan options as standard on the menu please. We went to have a beer on the Friday night from the restaurant obviously as your bar was shut for a child's prom and decided to drink outside and therein lies another issue. Here we were greeted by more unkempt furniture, filth, cigarette and cigar butts littered about and full ash trays, straws and glasses left everywhere and rubbish chucked on the terrace below, shabby! Outside the foyer/reception was no different, empty cigarette packets and cigarette butts, general grime and filth. Does the hotel not have housekeeping staff for these areas? Terrible. The television in the room has...freeview that's it. Apparently we live in 2010 where smart TV's with netflix, prime video or even a movie rental service have not been invented? This is unacceptable. No usb ports or connections for devices so we could watch from the phone. It is 2021 perhaps use the extortionate costs to upgrade the in-room facilities no slippers or dressing gowns in the room? Why? Lifts took an age to arrive and only two were in order, in the end we gave up and used the stairs they were clean and tidy. The twilight spa was quite nice, there were a range of facilities but it was a shame that yet again it had to be let down by poor housekeeping with towels, water cups and elusive dressing gowns left everywhere. Shabby, unkempt furniture again it became commonplace and expected. Nice Jacuzzi outside shame it was a bit cold and accompanied by the smell of rendering cow fat. Shower was odd a very long tray with half covered by a door meant every time a shower was taken the floor was soaked, no wet wipes which should be standard, just one sorry roll of toilet paper! Wow. No sanitary bin? Why? At 9am Sunday we were greeted by knocking from housekeeping several times and made to feel as though we were putting somebody out? If a knock doesn't receive a response perhaps best to leave it until check out time? We paid for two days we're not leaving early because you want to get all the rooms cleaned in order, unacceptable and totally rude. £12 for a buffet breakfast, some nice options but not enough although you could get free bottles of water that cost you nearly £4 if you're a lowly peasant who isn't a member of their club. Checking out we were asked about our stay we told the receptionist it was lackluster and received no hint of disappointment or interest. An AI controlled self check in and out would do a better job. We wont be back.
