Unfortunately there was an issue with the power which necessitated a room move during the evening, and we were moved into the disabled access room for the night.
The shower was open, not in a cubicle which wasn’t great, and the bed was really low which was not ideal. However, the worst thing was the noise! As it was right next door to the check in desk people were arriving until late, and there was much chatting from guests and staff. We didn’t get to sleep until after 1.00 pm and we had an early start the next morning.
The worst bit was on our return we had a letter informing us we had incurred a parking charge despite logging in our number plate on check in. Thankfully this was speedily dealt with after talking to the Travelodge itself. But it was a nasty shock.
We will return, but will avoid the noisy room near check in! And will seek confirmation that our car registration has been accepted correctly.
Please guests and staff, remember that if you arrive late your noisy chatter can be very disturbing.
We stayed 1 night, & I can say that for the price we paid, the room was good & 99% clean.
The staff were friendly & the hotel was clean & quiet.
Ideal for travelling into Portsmouth, with a Harvester pub in the same car park.
The car park price is included in your stay, you just enter your registration into an electronic pad at reception.
We did have a loose toilet seat & 2 minor other things, which we told the member of staff on duty, she was very pleasant & was only too happy to listen & write down, what needed doing, as she said, if no one tells us we don't know if there's a problem. I said it's not a complaint, it was just to bring it to your attention.
Would we recommend this Travelodge, it's a yes we have been 3 times in total & it's a good base to get around.
Thank You Travelodge for value For Money

The reason for our middling review boils down to two basic points: Firstly, that breakfast is not included despite the high price of the room (over ÂŁ100/ night for a family room); secondly, that any more than 30 minutes of WiFi access per 24 hours costs ÂŁ3. This seems a liberty considering a) the aforementioned cost of the room and b) that guests like us with non-UK mobile phones rely on free WiFi access (ironically availability in several other locations where one is not paying over ÂŁ100/night).
All in all, these factors mean that Travelodge would not be our first choice next time we need to book a similar stay.
A really nice atmosphere, you can tell the staff enjoy working here which makes such a difference.
The manager who was on the front desk was so helpful, I felt as though she couldn't do enough for me, she went above and beyond.
The staff were all so knowledgeable about the local area and in and around Portsmouth.
My room was spotlessly clean, warm and actually quite cosy!
In view of COVID restrictions and hygiene I can safely say there was plenty of hand sanitiser around and it was well organised to be socially distant and whatnot. As I said it was spotlessly clean.
Thank you.
The room I stay in has no air-con but is cool because the building surrounds by trees. I happened to check in on a very hot summer day where the temperature was nearly 30 on that day.
The reception team is outstanding as they run the hotel like their own home, they seemed worked in the hotel for a long time and are proud of the place as they have seen regular return customers and wanted to make sure the guests stay with the hotel will enjoy the time.
It has Havester right next to it and also you can arrange delivery via apps if you wish other food. the parking space is plenty and petrol station is opposite. I consider this is a great location for tralvellers to stop over or just to visit families nearby.
I am not a picky customer, so maybe you will think differently from me, as the hotel is an older style property. if you are looking for more than just a place to sleep, you might want to go to the more cooperate hotel.
There is a Harvester on site so we could get dinner and a drink.
The room was spacious. It had all that we needed and was quiet. However it was hot. A fan was provided but there wasn’t any air con.
We arrived at Rowlands Castle and were met by a very pleasant staff member. The formalities of registration were quickly completed. The room was clean and comfortably warm, circa 82F 28C. Many hotels inc some 5* seem to have rooms that are stifling hot with no way of cooling them.
Our room faced west and was in the loft area of the building both recipies for unplesant room temperatures.
There seems to be some lack of understanding when a twin occupancy is booked; some mental block occurs with the provision of an extra hand towels. Guests may request an extra hand towel but should they not be a natural provision? Senior mangment if you want 5* reviews then this is one way to achieve them, attention to detail.
Car parking. This is more than adequate at the Rowlands Castle as it shares it's parking with the adjacent Harvester. So there should be no issue and as long as the guest vehicle registration is entered, in the pad at reception, parking is free for the period of your stay.
Access to the car park is by a pock-marked and broken surface which has been noted for attention but this may be something for a future date and judging by the wear and tear to the paint the work has been 'under consideration' for some time.
Markings in the parking, which are heavily worn, are to the 5 decades old standard of 2.5m x 5.0m which is barely adequate for modern vehicles. There is also no provision for those guests with Electric Vehicles. This needs to be reviewed in the near future - Senior management your 5* review by this reviewer will be increasingly dependent on this provision at all your locations.
Overall our stay at the Rowlands Castle Travelodge was pleasant and two good nights sleep were enjoyed. Rowlands Castle is very pleasant and an ideal centre for exploring South Hampshire, Portsmouth, Chichester and Southampton. Day trips by train from Portsmouth to Brighton and London are also worth consideration.
