We booked an evening meal to finish off a short break in the Cotswolds. The food was average and expensive. The staff were more concerned about looking after hotel quests than those who had just booked for dinner.
A real shame as we have eaten here several times before and had had good food and service.

We spent Christmas at this amazing hotel, arriving on Christmas Eve and staying until the 27th. From the moment we arrived with our 3 dogs, we had the best service, the best care and the most amazing food! The hotel itself is a very old building, and I loved the fact that they kept the building as it used to be! The original windows, the most quirky rooms, which they had used to their best advantage, and managed to fit in an en suite! The only complaint I can make is the fact that we had a 4 poster bed and it was very high, I could have done with a step to get into it! The staff were outstanding, every single one of them was polite, great fun and couldn't do enough for you! We never had one that complained or moaned about being away from family over Christmas. The food was absolutely amazing, as was the service, the drinks were not extortionate either! There were staff on hand to take your bags when you arrived on Christmas Eve, and they were taken to our room, and we had a lot of 'extras' with the dogs and Christmas gifts! The hotel itself was closed to anyone other than residents, which was really nice. This hotel is extremely dog friendly, and at no time (other than 2 couples staying) were we made to feel that they were in the way. We were encouraged to take them into the bar, and we could even have our breakfast with them if we wanted to in the bar area. The only rooms they couldn't go into were the two restaurants. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and well maintained, and safe for the dogs to have a run around. The hotel itself was always warm, in fact in some rooms it was too warm! A great hotel that we will definitely be visiting again! I cannot praise this hotel enough, and thank you to David and the whole team for a Christmas to remember!

There are loads of things to like about The Manor House. We headed for the Cotswolds as substitute for our COVID cancelled break in sunny Mallorca. We had been gifted afternoon tea at the Manor House so we decided to spend the night and explore the area. My initial reaction on booking a deluxe room was that £180 for bed and breakfast was a tad expensive. On arrival the staff were both polite and helpful. Our afternoon tea was really good; nice sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and very naughty selection of delicious cakes, swilled down by an excellent cup of tea.
Our room was pleasant but a bit on the small side; the bed on the other hand was huge and comfortable. We decided to have supper at the hotel as the weather was too inclement to explore Moreton for an alternative. The hotel advertises two restaurants; a brasserie and the Mulberry Tree. They are given separate write ups but have the same menu and the same prices which are fairly hefty across the board. My Sirloin steak was very nice but at £27.00 did not represent value for money, in my opinion. The starters were nice and my wife’s salmon from the specials list good but not great.
After a decent night’s sleep, despite creaky corridors (it is an old building), we had a very good breakfast before booking out.
We enjoyed our stay to a degree but would probably shop around in the area before deciding on our accommodation next time we head for the Cotswolds.

Earlier this evening in the sunshine whilst visiting Moreton there was a board advertising menu another board enter via hotel. Sanitized my hands walked in then was asked if I was a resident No just like a drink was my reply. Residents only tonight therefore I advised that there was no notice outside or in to this effect and perhaps they need to remove the menu board or perhaps it was down to my summer attire t shirt and shorts
Would I go there again NO steer well clear especially if not wearing labels

This is a very old building so has some good points and some issues. I will deal with the good first, The staff are all wonderful, polite and helpful, the restaurants are tidy with a main room and another located in a conservatory. The breakfasts are great as good as you'll get anywhere. Location is perfect on the high street, you can park on the street outside, there is free wi-fi and a tv in the room. The bed was large and comfortable and there are Molton Brown toiletries supplied. Now the not so good at 6 foot I am the perfect height to bang into several doorways so be careful. We were in room 20 which I would describe as ok but not great, the bathroom is awkward and you need a map to find it. Looking at the photos of other rooms its the one to avoid. The windows would not open and using the shower was a faf. Other reviews rave about the meals but I have to say the menu is limited and quality needs improving but the service is first class. There's a lot to like would I stay here again probably if I had a different room but based on the one we had probably not.

Following our recent visit to another hotel in this hotel group, we were a little anxious about how it may have changed since being taken over by a major pub chain.

However, we need not of worried as the amazing, loyal and enthusiastic staff team have kept the character and good standards of this lovely hotel going.

The hotel building and grounds are well maintained and attractive. Our hotel room (very good room) was well positioned and delightful. The floor boards are creaky but that is part of its charm. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. The room was not serviced during the stay due to COVID but fresh towels etc can be requested. There was a coffee machine and tea making facilities in the room.

We ate in the Mulberry restaurant on both evenings and despite the menu being the same as all the other hotels/pubs in the chain the food was superbly cooked. The quality of food , presentation and cooking was far superior to the other hotel that we had visited. The service was also of a higher quality and it was evident that the staff enjoy working at this great hotel. The staff were all friendly and keen to talk to the customers. Breakfast and lunch service in the garden (due to the heatwave) was also very good.

We took a 3.5 mile walk across fields to Batford and walked past the falconry centre and the deer enclosure and across fields back to Moreton-in-Marsh. It was a great walk even in 30 degrees.

We also bought some delicious cheese and bread from the town’s super cheese and deli shop.

I wish we could have stayed longer but we are having a series of mini breaks to make up for not going abroad this summer. We will be back though.

We Stayed 2 nights Friday and Saturday and thought it was a nice hotel, We had a very good four poster room which was directly above the front door. It had a little room with tea and coffee facilities up some stairs. The room was good the only downside was the traffic noise on a night but it didn't really bother use. I would have liked to have seen a couple of bottles of water in the room as well.
We liked the hotel the gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed having a drink on an afternoon and night.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and although it was fairly decent the menu was quite limited and some of the food lacked flavour, it was quite expensive.
We enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory it was tasty and prompt.
We would stay here again but will probably try somewhere else next time.

We booked 2 nights bed and breakfast for our wedding anniversary.

On arrival, we went straight round to the car park at the rear of the hotel, rather than trying to park at the front and then walked back round.

Check in was easy, we booked breakfast for 9.30 on both days, paid the room and were given a key to room 47 which would be available around 3pm.

The room was small, very clean and comfortable, overlooking the terrace garden and conservatory. Complete peace.

The bathroom was good and the shower more than adequate. Be warned, the doors slam shut on leaving though.

We slept well on both nights.

Breakfast was served in the conservatory and was a choice of cold buffet items, full English or vegetarian breakfast and various egg dishes, with toast, tea and coffee. Very tasty indeed.

The absolute star of the place is the garden, it is BEAUTIFUL. 3 separate lanes, apple trees, a Pagoda, absolutely beautiful. We had snacks and drinks here in the sun. It isn't cheap but it is a lovely setting.

For our evening meals we went to the White Hart Hotel (decent enough but I wouldn't rush to go back) and The Black Bear (stunning, see my separate review

Well located on the High Street. It has its own car park a short drive from the main entrance and then a short walk through the gardens.

The rooms were tired and dated, room 8 had a shower of sorts in the bath which resulted in you having to stop low to get under it plus it had no shower gel. Room 31 was on the 2and floor accessed by stairs or a lift. It was facing the main road and was noisy with passing traffic.

It had a proper shower and loads of Molten Brown gel and soaps.

The pillows were very soft so no good if you like firm pillows.

The bar and restaurant are nice and friendly with a good range of beers, wines and other drinks.

We had pre booked for evening dinner. We were put in the conservatory not the main restaurant.

Good options on the menu, everyone enjoyed their meal, all well presented and tasty.

They have a silly face covering rule in reception but the staff don't wear one in the same area. Something to do with them bring behind the desk, but so were we just the other side??

Breakfast was nice, a waiter with his own style and sense of humour!

All in all a nice but expensive stay.

Firstly the hotel does appear to be trying to implement the ever changing Covid rules and the staff were all friendly. but there were in our view a few issues,
The Room generally was large and nicely equipped however one of the small tables seemed dusty, and the on suite is small.
The restaurant is nice but a couple of chairs did seem close however were back to back so probably met covid rules but most guests appeared elderly and some did seem concerned,
The food in the main was very nice but one of our stakes contained gristle and given the price that is not good enough, to be fair to the hotel they did offer a replacement but that meant one of the party would be eating after the other so the offer was declined.
Overall whilst the hotel is nice it did not live up to its 4 star rating.
