Mould on the ceilings, smelt of cigarette smoke, music until late, crack in the sink, missing drawers from the dresser, old furniture, tiny tv, decor so outdated, didn’t feel safe, beds uncomfortable. Parking needs looking at, didn’t bother looking at the pool. The quicker we could get out the better, glad it was just one night after a concert.

Very welcoming , tea and coffee at the ready when we arrived prompt indeed. While waiting for the meal to be brought to the buffet we watched one of the staff stick her finger into soup then lick it, not good when your dealing with the older generation and Nora virus around.. Then the fresh soup added to the cold making soup colder. Food basic and a shambles when it came to what they termed as Xmas dinner , Xmas eve and new years day. Desserts mainly cake some been there before as stale. The kitchen staff need hygiene course, amazed they pass the inspection. Very dated place, the wooden boards creaked, doors banged and humming of the air conditioning from our window all night, (turned off two out of four nights). Unfortunalty the communication with guests and reception was very poor and hard work . Heating in rooms too much. Meals rushed as they had many coach loads to feed, soon as your last spoonful in mouth along comes a hand to remove plate, they where polite though. Needless to say we do not intend staying again or the coach firm, `Lets Go`.

This hotel is certainly not 3*. The public areas were fine but the bedroom/bathroom were in a very poor state of repair. I went with friends for a dance weekend, and paid a single supplement for a double room. (on the website a large room is show so this is very misleading). The room just about fitted a double bed but there was no plug point near the bed, the only double point on the adjacent wall so that the lamp could not be used as a bedside lamp. The 'bedside table' was some old occasional table that must been purchased from a junk shop. The bathroom was basic to say the least, the shower gel dispenser was empty and the soap very poor quality. The toilet paper was the cheapest rough paper. There was a gap on the back of the bathroom door where there had been a hook but was no longer. There were no bathmats provided, we were told they did not have them and to use a hand towel! There was no room servicing during our stay. The food was very poor quality using the cheapest ingredients. The soup was watered down and tasteless. Suffice to say it we had been booked in as a private booking, ie not within an organised group, we would have left and found another hotel in Bournemouth. This does not impact on the weekend as far as the organised activities were concerned and indeed the ballroom had a lovely floor to dance in and there was plenty of comfortable seating in the public areas but the bedrooms and bathrooms certainly need some advice from Alex Polizi!!

Went for a budget hotel as we just needed “somewhere to sleep” - well I got 4 broken hours. The family rooms in the Frome wing are situated directly above the function room so you can not block the noise out, not great with a child. Went down at 1:30am to ask what time it finishes and was told “dunno should have finished ages ago” Also the doors in that wing weee heavy fire doors with no nice latch to they had to be physically pulled pushed shut so we got to hear all the doors when anyone came or went throughout the night. Again in a family room- there appeared to be no temperature restriction on the boiler and the separate taps in Bathroom could have caused a burn. The window safety catch wasn’t in existence. And there was no hand soap in the bathroom (maybe that’s normal) there was a bit of gel wash in the bath but the pump dispenser didn’t work so well could get any out, but I could scold the germs off, so it was just the child rubbing her hands over everything after a Luke warm hand wash. Beds appeared clean and pillows were big but useless at muffling sound and may have even functioned as some aid to carry the base directly to your skull.

If I could give lower than one star I would! I booked this hotel back in June as part of a birthday present. After reading some great reviews and getting recommendations from others. I wish I hadn’t! We arrived at 5pm and checked in. Everything seemed okay but there was a sign to say that the restaurant times had been changed from 6pm-9:30pm to 6pm-7:30pm (last entry seven pm). When I went to book a table. I was told that as there was a large group staying they had priority for the restaurant and no one else would be able to book until 6:45pm. When I returned at 6:45pm, I was told that the restaurant manager wouldn’t accept any other bookings until at least 7:15pm (fifteen minutes before the restaurant was advertised as closing). At this point I asked if there was anywhere else I could get food, and was directed by the reception to the bar where I was told they had a full bar menu. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when upon going up to order food I was told “you can but we only have sandwiches or toasties available” at this point I was hungry and a toastie was better than nothing. However it was the most sorry excuse for a toastie I have ever seen. Not to mention five minutes after I ordered another guest ordered and when they were unhappy with toasties, and that they couldn’t use the restaurant, the manager told them they could have pizzas. (After myself and others were told they were unavailable) This was disappointing enough in itself. But I then returned to my room to discover there was no power to the whole floor, and no one had been given any information as to how long it would be out. Myself and multiple other guests therefore had to return to the bar and sit and wait for the power to be restored. We then only found out it had been when a guest asked for an update and was told “it’s been back on about ten minutes”. Overall this stay, which should have been an enjoyable night away was pretty much a catastrophe on the hotels end. With a seriously big lack of communication. And the only redeeming point was that the night Porter allowed us to order a macdonalds so that we could at least have some much needed food.

This Britannia has some plus points yet these are unfortunately outweighed by the negatives. First of all, the location is in a beautiful, quiet residential area midway between the town centre’s of Bournemouth and Boscombe providing a quiet peaceful place to stay however it is not on a bus route and everything is a long walk or drive away. The hotel is a little rundown and the entranceway requires a good clean and tidy up. To stay at the hotel you will be required to show ID, the only forms acceptable are a driving licence or passport which is an issue if you do not drive and do not have a passport, and they are relatively inflexible about this requirement. The public space were very dated in terms of decor and required a coat of paint especially the corridors to the rooms. The room was dated in terms of décor yet it was very clean apart from the stained chair however it was warm and comfortable. The bed, linen, mattress, pillows and duvet were superb. The new television was lovely, yet £7 for 24 hours of Wi-Fi was a little pricey. I found the team to be disinterested in the guests and everything a chore.

Walked into reception and thought this is going to be a nice place to stay, sadly I was wrong the room was awful, the walls were really dirty needed painting carpet was filthy needed cleaning, the soap holder in the bathroom had old soap scum on there, didnt look like it had been for a long, definitely wouldn't recommend it. Couldn't wait to leave. The only little bit of positiveness was the staff were nice and breakfast was okay. Wouldn't recommend it as a place to stay
