So we are planning on booking again next year and have stayed twice, once in a caravan and once in a lodge. The lodge was very nice indeed and very spacious. The wonderful thing about this holiday park is the location and the fact that it's quiet and family orientated. It also has a fantastic swimming pool on site. No need for mobile signal, break out the board games and explore the area. (the cliff edge cafe has the best veggie burger!) The owners are lovely and although i haven't had the chance to have a long chat, they were great when we visited. I do have one request from my little boy. More animals please! :)

Great place to stay. I hadn't been back for over 15 years and was not disappointed. There have been a few changes and a little modernisation, but everything is in sympathy with the overall ambiance of the site. Still run by the Hart family, the park is very professionally managed, without losing the family feel. First: amenities. If you are looking for somewhere with a thriving night life and bar, with parties and kids clubs... find somewhere else. This holiday park has a really well maintained swimming pool, a sauna, a play area for kids with so.e.nicely thought out and maintained play equipment. There is a Badminton net, football goal and table tennis table too. There is also a small open space, big enough for a family game of cricket, rounders, Frisby, or kite flying etc. There is also a small stream that runs through the middle of the site. Traditional family fun is the theme here. There are chalets and luxury apartments available, however we opted to stay in a 2 bedroom, 5 person caravan. Things have certainly changed in the world of caravans since I was last here: The bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) are reasonably spacious, for a caravan, however, the beds are fantastically comfortable, and there's plenty of space for clothes. The shower and bathroom are roomy and the shower itself has enough power to please anyone. The van had a well appointed kitchen with small microwave, mid-size fridge / freezer (2 decent sized freezer drawers - same size fridge) The cooker is gas, with a gas fan oven - I was sceptical about this at first, but pleasantly surprised that it was just as effective as an electric oven! The van had a flat screen TV with built in DVD player and freeview. Again, a nice change from the grainy reception that was all that was available 15 years ago! WiFi is provided, but don't expect superfast broadband! It is sufficient for most people's needs on holiday. There's NO mobile signal. All of that, to me, was a huge plus. This is somewhere to completely unplug, relax and enjoy the simple pleasures. The beach is just 500 meters away. It is accessible at both high and low tide. It is mostly gently sloping with aix of sand and some pebbles/shells. At low tide there are plenty of rock pools to explore. It is certainly a safe beach to swim at, although some.body borders and surfers occasionally use it too. To one side of the valley there is the Bovisand Cafe, to the other the Cliffedge Cafe. It is a short(ish) walk to the Mussel Inn where they serve brilliant gourmet food, or a slightly longer walk to the Eddystone Inn, also very well regarded. In the summer there's also a bus that runs to the centre of Plymouth from outside the Cliffedge cafe. A thoroughly recommended site for a quiet, relaxing break suitable for all ages. The only warning is that those with mobility issues may not find it easy to get around, especially off site... the footpaths offsite are either unpaved, badly paved or quite steep.

Me, my husband and our 21 month old have just spent the best week in a 2 bed caravan at Bovisand Holiday Park. Best bits: - Caravan was homely and spotlessly clean - Right on a sandy cove beach, protected from the wind, with warm swells in the sea. At low tide, rock pools were perfect for our little boy to explore - Quality indoor swimming pool, billable in 50 min slots - Fantastic park…chickens and goats which you can feed are an added bonus - Walking distance to Cliff Edge Cafe (really great food), Bovisand Beach Cafe (for views and ice creams), and gastro pub the Mussel (fab food and lovely play area) - Driving distance to several great days out for children (Woodlands and Pennywell highly recommended) We would highly recommend this holiday park to families who like peaceful, quality accommodation in a rural setting that’s close enough to local attractions for rainy days out.

We stayed in what looked to be a brand new static caravan for a week and were very pleased with the standard of the accommodation, location and service. The caravan was great; spotlessly clean and with everything you needed. Even a flame effect fireplace which I thought was very effective. We couldn't have been better placed being a minute's stroll to the South West Coastal Path with direct access onto a lovely westerly facing sandy beach. The only things we didn't think to bring with us were some seats to sit out on whilst on the beach watching the sun go down in the evening. For those of you who like walks; we went for a couple of walks directly from here - north to catch the ferry to Plymouth (about 5 minutes crossing time and a reasonable £2 each) at Mount Batten quay (bit of a steep path in places) and then south to Wembury Bay (circular via Staddiscombe and Hollacombe Hill inland). This rocky coastline is so impressive and we spent some time here clambering about investigating the content of rock pools. The route passed Heybrook Bay but unfortunately when we struggled up the steps to the Eddystone Inn, which provided fabulous views from its tiered terraces, we found it shut for the day/ We also did another circular walk not far away starting from the National Trust Warren car park which takes in Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers, again beautiful scenery. Worth checking out the NT website for their directions as we ended up going down some hairy narrow lanes leading nowhere! Digbury on Sea and its Burgh Island is the setting for another gem of a walk. And not very far away is Dartmoor so we took in the picturesque walk from the Shipley Bridge carpark near Didworthy along by the river to the Avon Dam Resevoir. Although, don't do what we did and attempt to find the OS straight line footpath from Huntingdon Cross back to the carpark as it doesn't exist (just an imaginary line showing a right of way it seems) and is very boggy in places. I know as I fell face first into one and got soaked! Because the park is located at the bottom of a steeply sided and wooded valley you get to hear lots of birdsong. Especially charming was the owl we heard in the evening. I’m not sure which one it was but it was making the classic too-wit-too-woo sound. And if walking's not your thing, there's always Plymouth. We spent some interesting time visiting The Box, a fairly newly redeveloped museum of Plymouth - and it's free. Also, there's the small Mayflower Museum above the tourist information office which is close to the jetty where you berth from the Mouth Batten ferry. This is also where we found some nice pubs and eateries whilst looking out over Sutton harbour. The couple we took to be the owners were both very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Would definitely recommend staying here as it ticked a lot of boxes for us. Thank you Bovisand Lodge!

My parents stayed at Bovisand for a week at the end of the summer holidays. The caravan looked brand new, was very clean and as my dad had a special birthday the team had left a lovely card and little present on the table. What a lovely touch! The location is brilliant and the kids enjoyed the chickens, pool and playpark. We highly recommend Bovisand to anyone who would love a relaxing and comfortable beach holiday.
