My girlfriend and i stayed for 3 nights at this place and really enjoyed ouy stay. Staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. The other guests who had been staying for a while were good fun and very interesting.
Having cycled the thirty miles across Dartmoor I decided that rather than camp, I would treat myself to a night in a hostel and rang from the tourist information. I wish I hadn't bothered. It was clear from the outside that not much care was being taken to maintain the building, and immediately on entering I was confronted by a strong smell of grilled fish, but I had already booked. I was handed a pile of bobbled sheets which looked like they had been washed thousands of time, and made my way upstairs to the cell, which I was to share with transient workers who were all seeking jobs and flats in the area. We went with a group of 10 friends and had a great stay. Rooms are simple but clean, as are the showers. Service was very good, got great help to find place to go.
