Firt of all is to say that the area is nice where the hostel is. The staff was also really friendly. The room, kitchen and bath are not really nice and needs renovating, but if you just need a place to stay for a night it is ok
I had a very pleasant stay at this cheap & cheerful Hostel with friendly helpful staff and a lively convivial communal area. The Hostel is ideally situated, close to the City centre, port and the lively night-life of Union Street and the charm of The Barbican. Thoroughly recommended for budget travellers passing through or holidaying in Plymouth.
Nice hostel in a safe area close to the Hoe and city center. Located in a typical English house. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Old school type of a hostel which makes a great atmosphere. Clean kitchen and facilities, a backyard to chill out.
DO NOT STAY HERE. I've stayed in hostels in South America, Asia and Africa and never experienced such a dirty, smelly and run-down place to sleep in my life. Unfortunately the owner seems to completely oblivious to the horrendous conditions he is "hosting" guests in, and so I do not expect it will improve at all. I don't care how much of a shoestring budget you are on... if you want to feel remotely rested and ready to enjoy your travels, work or whatever brings you to Plymouth DO NOT STAY HERE. The bathrooms are very dirty and decrepit - taps don't work, shower doors fall off, toilet seats are broken etc. Bedrooms are appallingly dirty and smelly, the bedding is so desperately old and towels falling apart. And there is NO atmosphere here, in fact it's downright weird. If…
Filthy house that has clearly been cheaply converted into a 'hostel' and used for 20 years with next to no renovation. Frendlyish owner and reasonably located but I would advise you avoid this place. At £19 a dorm bed its not even good value
