We went with some friends to the Jazz club at the Western Hotel last Tuesday. What an evening!! A simply superb trio entertained us royally, the waitress was a real charmer ant took care of us and everyone else with a smile and cheery chatter and the dinner was great value (a rarity in St. Ives). Certainly worth a visit and HIGHLY recommended.
Had a lovely stay at the western clean room and a wonderful breakfast each morning and the staff are amazing and so kind and helpful thank you all for making our stay special .situated in the heart of st ives beautiful shops and beaches and everything on hand for a great holiday 👍😊
I spent 5 days at the Western Hotel in St Ives & really enjoyed my stay. I was travelling solo, so just booked a single room, which was comfortable & cosy, not huge but it had everything I needed.. comfy bed, shower, bath, TV, coffee & tea. The hotel location is great, close to everything, the St Ives cinema is right next door, the Co-op opposite, the streets of St Ives right on your doorstep & about 5 mins walk to the harbour. The hotel has live music in their bar/breakfast room every evening, I enjoyed being able to pop downstairs for a glass of wine & a bit of music when it was cold & rainy outside & I didn't fancy braving the weather! The staff were all so helpful & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. And their breakfast (which was included in the price) was excellent. I would highly recommend the Western Hotel in St Ives, it was very good value for money & I will definitely stay there again... and again.…
Great staff , nice breakfast , comfy bed , good wifi , spotlessly clean . The only thing I can say wasn't my taste and this is very much tongue in cheek is I hate Jazz . They have a Jazz night on a Tuesday . Made my ears bleed ..... hehe
Stayed here for a few nights with friends to celebrate my birthday. Room was comfortable and clean and the location was brilliant right in the middle of the town. The breakfast was cooked fresh and tasty and the staff were very helpful and friendly. There is no parking but the station car park is not too far and £7.40 for 24 hours. However the train ride is lovely and better than driving!
Lovely hotel with lots of character in a fantastic location - you can walk everywhere that’s in st Ives. Spotlessly clean hotel. Fantastic house keeping - they keep the place spotless. My single room was great - big enough for me with plenty of wardrobe space. Lovely big window which made for a bright airy room. Nice size bathroom - it was all very comfortable . Great freshly cooked breakfast - lovely staff here and professional- aside from one young female who was so permanently stressed , she made me stressed ! Great well run bar with beer garden- very friendly staff. Only two probs- one was the bizarre situation when a popular jazz singer played at the hotel . I was told that I couldn’t drink my beer at the bar but had to drink it in the reception as the bar for the night was for the “jazz club” . I was told this by a member of the jazz club - I must take my drink in reception and sit their with it ! Never before as a paying guest in a hotel have I been told I can’t the use the bar . Strange really. By the way the jazz singer sounded like a strangled cat. The other thing is the Sunday roast - I asked if I could have a roast at 18: 30 to which staff told me yes - I turned up then and was asked if I had booked - “no “ I was then told they were fully booked ! Why didn’t you tell me that earlier when I asked !!!! - so no five stars lol that said I will definitely come back here - a charming hotel with some great staff , very clean , lovely room, good food and great location - all at a very reasonable price too . I will be back…
After having a restaurant booking cancelled through lack of staff we were fortunate to be able to book a carvery meal at this hotel at fairly short notice and what a good decision that it was. Service was excellent and the food consisting of a full plate of as many of the three meats you wanted plus numerous vegetables, was excellent. We were slightly concerned when a group of musicians set up just yards from our table but we needed have worried- they were an acoustic group playing quiet and pleasant songs in the background.
Nice Grand Hotel a little dated inside but cannot fault the cleanliness, pleasant people working staff all working hard to keep the place nice and clean , couldn't do enough for you great hotel to stay in ideally located 2 to all of St Ives, nice breakfast love the sausages and every now and again they have a band playing next door great atmosphere
Staff were helpful when required, although I did not need them much as I was only staying for 4 nights. The room was way to small. I was a solo traveller but it was too small for me, I couldn't really move much in there. If you are a solo traveller I would suggest getting a double room still as the single room was just too small. The room seemed quite dated and there were some old stains on the carpet. The bathroom was also small. Some water was always on the floor although I couldn't tell where it came from, I moped it up but there was always a little puddle there every day. The shower was just a shower hose attached to the bath tap so not very powerful, but I had no issues with hot water. The walls were thin so you could here people in other rooms and walking up and down the corridors. It was quite noisy in the evenings, as there was live music playing next door, also at around 1:30am there was a load of noise outside, people shouting while leaving I presume but it happened every night so getting sleep was difficult. Breakfast was a standard British fry up type deal No buffet or anything like that, very basic, although it was cooked fine. Location was okay, its a short walk to the beach and the main pedestrian part of St Ives, there are shops right outside and a taxi service nearby. I'm not sure if the larger rooms are better but I wouldn't stay here again as a solo traveller, I don't think it was value for money.…
Once again a wonderful holiday. Room was a good size and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location for the harbour. Breakfast excellent especially as you can choose exactly what you want. Would recommend this hotel if visiting st ives.
