This is the second stay we have had in Long Ship Rocks. We stayed in Bishop’s Rock and my in Laws stayed in the Needles. Both cottages were perfect for us. Bishop Rock had a large living space, a double room, a twin room and then two single beds on a mezzanine behind a stud wall. This worked well for us as one of my teenagers went in the room and one in the mezzanine room. The mezzanine room had no storage room and only just fitted the two single beds in. We have previously stayed in Seven Stones which had 2 ‘proper’ twin rooms behind doors but a much smaller living area. The cottages are so clean and COVID rules are in place.
We stayed in Seven Stones as a family of 4 which allowed my children a bedroom each. We booked through ‘Atlantic Cottage Holidays’ who have been amazing. It is a beautiful cottage with everything you could ask for during your stay. It is within walking distance of Sennen Beach (3 quarters of a mile) and Lands End (1 mile).
Our son booked this for a get-together and we were really pleased with the accommodation - two bathrooms for three bedrooms makes all the difference! It was designed so that the porch doors can be opened for more light and sun - not an option in the gale we endured but they've made it really cosy too, and no scrimping on the heating. I loved the way you can buy the stylish artwork and the Cornish biscuits were welcome, too. The walks are brilliant, along the coast to Lands End, down to Sennen or along to Porthcurno. We hope to visit again.
Once again we find ourselves back at Sennen Cove and staying at Longships Watch. I think we've now rented/stayed in all 5 cottages. Each time we are presented with clean and lovely cottages. The accommodation is great and the owners are very friendly.
We stayed in Bishops Rock which is advertised as sleeping 6 people. We went with 4 teenagers aged 14 to 18 and found the cottage far too small to be comfortable. The third 'bedroom' is really just an enclosed space on the landing, with no external window, no proper door and no privacy. The twin beds are so crammed in that one of the legs had been sawn off to get it into the space. Our week's holiday began with a major debate about who was going to draw the 'short straw' and sleep in this area. I had read other reviews about the well equipped kitchen but my experience was that it was a real challenge to cook, even basic meals such as pasta, for six and we had to go out and buy our own equipment. Also there is exactly 6 of everything e.g. mugs, glasses etc. which meant that we had to keep getting stuff back out of the dishwasher and wash up. Finally there is room for only 5 in the sitting area in front of the TV. The location is beautiful and very convenient with generous parking. The views from the garden are wonderful but there is no washing line on which to dry wet towels, which is awkward if like us you are surfing every day. I think this cottage would be good for 4 people but is not adequate for 6. We are returning to Sennen Cove again in 2012 but have booked different accommodation.…
