The guesthouse itself is very beautiful, very well maintained, great common area. The rooms are simple, 100% clean, did not see a single insect anywhere. The host Alvin is friendly and warm and absolutely helpful in organizing a tour to Mt. Pinatubo at very short notice. He keeps you up to date regarding the tour via WhatsApp. He is always available before and during the stay and responds promptly to questions. No matter how early you leave for Mt. Pinatubo, you will receive a breakfast in the guesthouse. Also a packed lunch for the tour (both very good). In the evening you can also eat in the guesthouse if you wish, simple and very good. The tour to Pinatubo is an absolute highlight and Alvin's guesthouse is the perfect starting point for it.

Fantastic service from Alvin for my pinatubo trip after solo day trip from Manila is too expensive. Alvin gave me public transport directions to the amazing lodge. Is green shady oasis with lights, wifi, a/c, flushing toilets and comfy beds in otherwise dusty rural village. Staff member Vincen ad great English and personally looked after me! Next day I was then able to join and share costs with arriving day trippers for the Jeep tour and the mountain trek that was much more pretty than I expected. Thanks Alvin for helping me tick pinatubo off my volcano visit list,

Best way to see Mt. Pinatubo. They are very helpful to make sure there’s a jeep tour available for seeing the beautiful area. A fun and nice trip. The lodge area was super cozy and the room was also all right. A bit old style and could use a little bit of a fresh up. Lots of ants in the bathrooms and there was no bar/restaurant connneted. Breakfast was a bit simple

We did the Pinatubo Tour, no overnight stay. All was very well organized and super friendly. One can also book directly at the barangay tourist office, I did not choose that and compare prices because Alvin seemed very professional and being the most convenient option. And that’s what we got. Can recommend.

We set out with a goal of hiking Mt Pinatuba and luckily we found Alvin and Angie! All we had to do was show up the night before and Alvin and his team took care of the rest. We arrived around 6 PM and had a good night rest for our 5AM breakfast. By 0530 we were all loaded into 4x4 vehicles and headed out for our Mt Pinatuba accent. The drive was fun and provided excellent views of the mountains. It was 1.5 hrs in the 4x4 up to the trail head where we dismounted and walked the 7km with our guide leading the way to the top. We ate a delicious meal at the top and began heading down after taking time to enjoy the view and take plenty of pictures. We crossed a stream multiple times along the way up and relished the beautiful scenery the entire way up and down the mountain. The accommodations, food, service and tour were all fantastic. We highly recommend!

Climbing Mt Pinatubo was effectively two adventures for the price of one – firstly the 4x4 ride and secondly the hike itself. The ride is great fun – proper off-roading, prepare to be bounced around as you traverse the river bed and boulders on the way to the start of the hike. Curiously, my wife normally suffers from motion sickness on winding roads or most boat rides, but didn’t struggle with this. The hike is on a well-defined track, taking you up to the crater lake. It was an early start, so we missed the worst of the heat and you can buy drinks and snacks at the top if you want to travel light. There are also (basic) toilets near the lake, but we didn’t use them. Because we wanted to do it in a day, we rented a hire car, so as to avoid the uncertainty/hassle of public transport. We stayed at Alvin and Angie’s Guesthouse the night before, started early ~6am and the ride + hike were pretty quick, we ended up with an afternoon spare. so were able to cram in some Manilla sightseeing as a bonus. If you use Google maps, it’s definitely worth using the toll roads, they save hours. I'd advise bringing extra food as breakfast was small for hiking!

They have the tours with lower price compared to other tour provider. We didn't need to plan anything since they have everything ready for us :) Definitely recommend It's pretty easy since you just need to fly to Clark airport and then take a taxi there, would cost around 1000 peso.

Pros: 1. Sir Alvin was very patient with our inquiries and our travel arrangements (to think some of us are fickle minded). He also is very enthusiastic and welcoming once you meet him in person. 2. Reasonable price of accommodation (w/breakfast) and trek package already includes 4x4 ride, guide, and lunch. See attached photo for details. 3. Rooms are basic yet clean and comfortable 4. They provide towels 5. Friendly dogs 6. Charming decor, with vintage flat irons, sewing machines, and vinyl records. 7. LOTS of books suitable for light reading. Cons: 1. Our room had no keys so we can't. Lock our room when we leave(A previous guest forgot to return the room keys. 2. Kitchen staff should be able to anticipate the needs of their clients. Eg sisig should not be served alone calamansi, chili, and soy sauce are standard accompaniments or if there are six guests on the table for breakfast they should be preparing six sets of meals. 3. The guide assigned to us did not even give us the history of Mt. Pinatubo nor did he orient us regarding the sites we passed. He also seems to be in a rush overtaking several tour groups ahead of us without even checking if we were still behind him (in some instances we could not catch up with him since the group before us are crowding the trail).

Our stay with Alvin was a fantastic base for an unforgettable tour up Mt Pinatubo and the surrounding aboriginal villages in the mountains. Alvin’s space is a small garden of Eden that feels secure and natural. His staff are warm and friendly people who are from the local area. The food they prepare, albeit simple, is tasty and filling. Whilst the breakfast is free, the lunch and dinner options are still cheap at P150 per meal (at time of writing). Alvin was really helpful and communicated with us via WhatsApp before our trip even started, guiding us to St Juliana from Manila and even organising the Pinatubo trek for us. I highly recommend the stay, the rooms are basic but clean, with air conditioning and a hot shower. Wildlife is present in the area and as with most of rural Philippines, I would suggest earplugs if you are a light sleeper. There is little signal in St Juliana, and no WiFi available - if you require internet then you will need a SMART SIM card (available nearby) as GLOBE SIM cards do not get a signal in the village. While you are there, I would also recommend visiting the aboriginal villages in the mountains. This is a day trip involving a walk of 15-20km and lasting 8 hours, and will require a guide (500 pesos between 4). This trip isn’t as well advertised, so I would inform Alvin in advance if you would like to do it. Walking shoes are recommended for both Pinatubo and the village walk.
