We are so happy to have met the amazing wife of the owner - Jelou. Just because of her our stay in the resort was so cosy and adventurous. Jelou told us about everything we can do on the island, gave us all the directions and the best tips and helped us to rent a car to drive around Bohol (if you have a chance, go for the car, guys!). Rene was not in the resort at that time, but we are definitely coming back to learn diving and get our certificates with him.
About the resort: The place is very cute and cosy. Amazing seaside view where you can have dinner at the sunset (they have the best pizza and seafood..) Polite, welcoming and fun staff. Breakfasts are pure love and they have their own home made bread. Spacious, quiet and clean European style rooms. Plenty of activities - the owner is in great relationships with the neighbouring resorts where you can do kayaking, snorkelling and even have a helicopter ride. Can’t wait to come back this February to get our diving certificates and have more fun with everyone we’ve met there!

Rene and his wife Jelou run a dive shop with 2 rooms just off a small bay in Pangangan island. Both Rene and Jelou and extremely hospitable and their rooms are clean and very thoughtfully designed. Diving on the house reef is good (We had th left whole reef to ourselves) and diving off Cabilao is a short boat ride away.
I would highly recommend Rene's Diverslounge for anyone who is looking for peace and quiet. (And for great pizza as well).

I have been already two times at Rene & Jelou's place and it is always a pleasure to be back. They are lovely people with a great sense of hospitality, as well as all of the team there. The food is delicious, and the deck in front of the water is the perfect place to take a breakfast or enjoy a drink with the sunset after a day freediving. The rooms are cosy and well arranged. The reef start just in front of the resort with access to the sea that's right under the deck, couldn't be closer! If you are into diving Rene can organize trips for you all over the island of Pangangan and Cabilao. If you want to try yourself at freediving there is a very nice instructor on the island, just ask Rene.

This place was absolutely amazing! I stayed at Rene and Jelou’s small resort for 4 days as a solo traveler wanting to do some fundiving. When I first arrived I was welcomed by the very kind staff who served me a drink and afterwards shoved me to my room - a very clean and cozy bamboo house, simple but with a nice double bed and with a fan. They also had two very nice aircon rooms with private bathrooms but I was fine with staying in the fan room. The second day I did three dives around Cabilao island with the owner Rene, and the diving was awesome! Beautiful corals, high abundance and diversity of fish! The talented and very kind cook Mario made us lunch to bring on the boat to eat in between dives. The two next days of my stay I unfortunately had a cold and couldn’t dive but Jelou arranged a car for me so I could go see the Chocolate Hills in Bohol and the last day I joined her and Mario when they went shopping at the local market.
Because of low season I was the only person in the resort and both Rene, Jelou and the staff attended to my every need, made me feel at home and we all had several dinners together! I met their two sweet daughters and played with the youngest in the afternoon before having dinner. If you are looking for a more quite place with high hospitality, kind staff, delicious food and high quality diving I would highly recommend staying at Rene’s Diverslounge Resort! I know that I’m definitely coming back as soon as possible :)

The room is really clean, cosy and well designed. I love the cosiness of this place. You can sit at the deck and watch the beautiful bay.
The hospitality of the Gutsche family is definitely the best. I will come back and visit the family again!!
