We loved our stay at Tabacon. Everyone was warm, friendly and so helpful with any request we made. The room was basic but comfortable and the rollaway bed for our daughter was made up and in the room when we arrived. We enjoyed the thermal springs, making multiple visits (even once at night when it was raining) to soak in the pools. There are so many different pools that we always had one to ourselves. Location is convenient to drive into La Fortuna for tours and meals (about 15 minutes away). My only small complaint: the robes are great, but our housekeeper didn’t replace ours until the last night we were there, so we were stuck with wet robes for two days.
Tabacon was an outstanding resort! In our view, the service rivals that of hotels like Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton. We were greeted with included valet parking, a quick and friendly check in, complete with cold towel and welcome drink, and then a tour of the resort by golf cart. The property was impeccably clean. Each morning personnel would come out and sweep leaves off the sidewalk that had fallen overnight. Umbrellas are provided everywhere as rain can be frequent. The thermal baths were also amazing. A modern, clean shuttlebus brings you to the thermal baths from the hotel. It is only about a 3 minute ride down the road. Robes are in the rooms to use to go to and from the thermal baths. The thermal baths were amazing! The water is so warm and all landscaping is done beautifully. It definitely has a luxurious feel. There are multiple areas and pools for patrons to spread out. An extensive breakfast was also included in our stay, overlooking the hotel pool. The hotel pool is also filled with thermally heated water, so no complaints from kids (nor adults) about a cold pool. Our only negative of the resort is that their hot water supply is from the volcano and while the showers get very warm, it was impossible to take a steaming hot shower. Ideally the hotel could heat the thermal water the extra 15-20 degrees to be able to take a piping how shower, but the water temperature was acceptable. Certainly it would not deter us from staying at the resort again, just something to know in advance. The resort is in a good location. It is a little outside of town but close enough to get there for dinner if desired with ease. Also a short drive to see the volcano, go on zip lines, hanging bridges, coffee tours, etc.…
Tabacon is an amazing hotel and spa. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. All aspects were great. The thermals are beautiful and relaxing and the spa is amazing. Eat at the Ephemeral Table if you can. It is sublime.
We didn't sleep in the hotel but had dinner in the Ave restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious steak that was prepared perfectly and was pairen with an extensive choice of sides. Mac, our waiter was very kind and the service was great. We would definetly recommend the restaurant.
excellent trip. Best resort service. The hot spring experience was great. the hospitality was par excellent. food was good. we booked the excursions through them and the experience was great. Highly recommend it.
We booked this Resort 6 months ahead so as ensure the room we wanted. From the moment the door opened on our van by a staff member, all through out our stay we were treated amazingly. I had my prescription sunglasses come apart and needed them for the following morning and the manager had the maintenance man do the repair that evening which I never expected. The food was always good but did take awhile to get to our table. I recommend Tabacon Resort to anyone wanting a top not h stay. Nancy went out of her way to talk to us and comped us a glass of wine our last evening. Pura vida everyone!!
Travelling with two teens ages 13 and 16. From the moment they opened our car door they addressed us by our name (nice touch) directed us to check in where they served us the most delicious welcome drinks. We stayed in the 2 bedroom which is over 2000 sqft and had a view of the rainforest. It was spectacular. The room had complimentary coffee and water and had a small plate of welcome chocolates with a “Happy Birthday” note for my son which was a sweet touch. The grounds are absolutely stunning. In our gowns we hopped into a shuttle that takes you 2 min down the road to the hot springs. The grounds are huge with little paths and bridges. If you staying at the hotel you have access to a private area of the hot springs where you can order snacks and drinks (18+). You can literally spend a couple of hours easy with just relaxing in the hot springs. We stayed there until about 9pm around the pool bar where u can order dinner in your gowns. We stayed at another hotel after Tabacon and nothing really compares to the Tabacon hot springs. I recommend this for couples and families with kids over 12. I gave 4 stars because the restaurants were nothing extraordinary. Breakfast was typical, I would have like to see a smoothie bar or yogurt parfaits or something. Dinner was also subpar. I had lunch at the hotel lobby restaurant which was good. Definitely 5 stars for the service as everything from the front desk to the two managers we met were amazing. We met Nancy (I think that’s her name) who just saw us walking in the hotel on our first night and took us on a quick walking tour and arranged for us to plant a tree the next morning. She was fantastic! The next day we met Sal (Saul?) who was equally as lovely and extremely helpful. Beautiful hotel, can’t wait to return!…
Tabacon Thermal Resort and Spa far exceeded expectations. The property was amazing. It was beautifully kept up, the rooms were clean and ready upon our arrival. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful. Offering assistance at every turn. I would definitely recommend this property.
Very lovely resort and spa. Enjoyed the hot springs and a drink at the bar there. Gorgeous setting and excellently kept grounds. Rooms were spacious and extremely clean and well equipped. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant.
We began visiting Tabacon in 2015 and have returned six times over the years. We were delighted by our first visit and each time the resort continues to make improvements to upgrade the experience. The customer service is truly outstanding (special thanks to Gerald and Frank), The grounds are amazing with enough hot springs/river pools scattered throughout the resort to ensure privacy. There is the guests only Shangri La with cabanas, a bar and several soaking areas that enable lounging, relaxing and enjoying a more intimate setting. The landscaping of the entire resort is genius in that everything looks absolutely natural but has been artfully created to be inviting, comfortable and beautiful. The numerous pools for soaking provide a variety of temperatures, sizes and varied esthetics. There is a wonderful swimming pool with a swim up bar and lots of lounging areas for those seeking a more traditional water experience. The spa is truly wonderful as well with the opportunity to revive treatments with the roar of the rushing water providing ambiance. We have visited hot springs/pools around the world but nothing compares to Tabacon. It is an experience not to be missed. To top it off the service, restaurants and lovely rooms ensure a perfect visit. All of this is at the base of the Arenal Volcano which is the source of the hot river that sustains the resort. …
