My wife and I returned for another dive trip with Ocean Frontiers on the East End of Grand Cayman. We have stayed here 9-10 previous times and it controls be our favorite dive hotel I. grand Cayman. The condos are clean, well maintained, and a very enjoyable and comfortable place to stay. We shall return!

I recently returned from a week at Compass Point diving with Ocean Frontiers and wanted to extend a big thank you to all the staff for their great service and all they did to work with the members of our group. Our stay there was excellent, from start to finish! The condo suites overlooking the ocean were absolutely beautiful and everyone was so nice and welcoming and really took good care of us. What a wonderful and pristine dive resort and retreat with a great group of people! Loved the East End dive sites too, reefs were gorgeous and full of life and we saw so much variety of marine life including reef sharks, wow! We all had a really great trip and would definitely come back again! :)

If you are coming to Grand Cayman to dive, you cannot go wrong staying at Compass Point and diving with Ocean Frontiers. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. It was wonderful to be able to eat breakfast and walk onto the dive boat in the morning. We enjoy the quieter east end of the island. Staff were responsive and helpful.

What a fabulous resort on the East End. We rented a two bedroom, had an Ocean view. The condo was clean, so comfy and spacious - had everything we needed. Great restaurants nearby or in short driving distances. Highly recommend. The dive operation, Ocean Frontiers, was first rate. The folks handled all your gear, including rinsing everything out after the dives. The dive masters were all great. Special Shout Out to Gustavo, Mimi, Gaja, and Richard. Dive sites were different, wall diving, caves, swim throughs, sharks, great sponges and corals etc Again highly recommend.

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS!!!! I think the reviews for this hotel are not realistic, it is def NOT a 4.9 hotel!!! it is a 2.5 star hotel! The beds are TERRIBLE!! there are tons of sink holes in them and when you ask to switch the bed they will flip the bed over so you can sleep on the box spring side!! If you are old and have bad knees the bathroom is a death zone!! The tub/shower rim is very high and on multiple occasions my husband and myself stub our toes getting in and out of the shower. There are no elevators so if you are on the top floor bring light luggage, no one offered to help with luggage. The beach is ok, there are no umbrellas and the current is stronger on the east end so the water always looked like muddy lake water, brown. You cant see the bottom of the ocean floor it was covered with seaweed. In the hotel description on the their website they say they give you a welcome package which includes a cooler. The cooler legit is the smallest cooler i have ever seen and only hold 2 drinks in it, def not something that you could take to another beach and use. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, glasses, pans, refrigerator. The water out of the faucet tasted slightly weird so we brought like little water bottle peach tea packets which helped it. The hotel does not include house keeping which is very interesting. Because if you want your room turned down or bed made up for you, it was an additional fee per housekeeping visit. For 15$ its clean towels and remove your garbage (per visit); For 30$ its make your bed, sweep the floors, clean your dishes; For 60$ its change linens, clean the bathroom, clean the kitchen, clean the actually hotel room. It just seemed like an extra rip off to not include basic housecleaning services in the room rental rate. We came during thanksgiving weekend, the hotel didn't seem busy but the dive team was. So if you didn't book out in advanced your didn't get to experience a morning dive or the USS Kitti dive which is only offered on Wednesday's. The food at the eagle Rays was really good and probably the most affordable on that side of the island. We also really enjoyed the italian kitchen. The dive team was awesome and they changed over everyones equipment during the two tank dives. Some of the younger dive staff was a little rude and would talk down about other adventure operations/ tours on grand cayman, it was distasteful.

Compass Point Dive Resort is a sister company to Ocean Frontiers - the resorts dive operator. We booked a package of accomidations/dives and rental car but I would think that you could book a room independent of the diving and vice versa. The resort is on the East End of the Cayman Islands and it takes about 40 minutes to drive from the international airport to the resort. They drive on the left side of the road, an adjustment for all of us North American drivers used to driving on the right side. Perhaps the bigger challenge is navigating the traffic circles from the left lane perspective. We were a bit concerned that Hurricane Ian would have caused damge to the resorts infrastructure but with the exception of a few broken branches and lots of sea grass on the beach, the resort was operating as normal. We had booked a one bedroom ocean front unit and were suprised to be upgraded to a two bedroom/two bath unit. The condo was equipped with everything one needs to enjoy their stay. The A/C worked very well and there was always lots of hot water. I am not sure if the condo has been upgraded but it was equipped with newer stainless steel appliances and also had a washer/dryer, a very nice touch. When we arrived in the Cayman's we were unsure about drinking the water but this fear was quickly alleviated. No need to worry about the ice or buy bottled water. In fact you are encoraged to refill your personal water bottle. The dive shop acts also is the front desk for the resort so basically a one stop check in for everything. The desk is manned from 7am till about 4pm but an after hours phone number is provided should the need arise to reach some one after hours. The resort has one onsite resturant "Eagle Rays" and it provides an included breakfast for the package divers. Snacks, lunch and dinner available for purchase. The menu is not extensive but we were always able to find something appealing for a light lunch or dinner and everything was very good. The breakfast is a buffet style but theyt will also do custom egg orders if asked. The resort has two swimming pools, one for dive training and one for relaxing. It is a short walk accross the street to the relaxing pool if this is an important feature you look for in a resort. We used the pool a couple of times and were pleasantly suprised at how few people were there. The next comment is not a reflection of the resort or the resturant but a more a general Cayman Island comment. Be prepared for pretty much everything to be really expensive and be aware that all sit down resturants automatically add a 15% gratuity to the bill additional gratuity can obviosly be added. Our biggest frustration was that all retail establishments use Cayman $ for pricing but gladly accept US $ as the government fixes the exchange rate. The frustration comes in that if you pay in US $ they convert your money to Cayman $ and your exchange comes as Cayman $ not US $. The customer gets hit with the exchange both ways and most of the establisments will always round up to the nearest dollar. An example was when we filled up with gas our bill was $23 Cayman and we gave the attendent $25 Cayman he was postively put out that we asked for our $2 in change to be returned. If you wish to eat in, we suggest that you stop at a grocery store near the airport as there is no large supermarkets near the resort. There is a large Foster's right by the airport and few "satellite" locations elsewhere. We found the smaller one closer to the resort very limited in selection. Hurley's is in Savanna, on the highway to the resort and can provide you with everything a person will need. The nice thing about this grocery store is they cater to the people that want a nice meal but do not want to buy all of the raw ingedients. A large portion of the store caters to pre-made meals and the menu changes daily to a different country of origin. It is sold by the lb. Note* grocery stores are NOT open on Sunday. One of our vacation dissapointments is that a lot of the resturants in the near vicinity were closed or had odd hours. We would drive to the establishment only to find they were not open, so back to Eagle Rays or eating in became our only options especially earlier in the week. All in all, we have nothing negative to say about Compass Point and are happy to recommend it to other divers. We have done a separate review about Ocean Frontiers, the dive operator associatted with Compass Point.

My wife and I stayed here for a week September of 2022. We came here for the diving! We absolutely love the ocean and the incredible ecosystem under the water. Extremely disappointed in the staffs lack of knowledge or interest sharing any information about the Grand Cayman marine environment. Like most tourism businesses they are trying to rebuild their employees after COVID. The biggest problem here is that the old employees are teaching the new employees bad habits! The dive guides could absolutely care less about sharing any information about what you can expect to see on a dive. Most dive companies have their guides carry a slate to write down the common names of the wonderfully whacky creatures you find on your dive. The guides shared nothing about what creatures you could expect to see or look for during your dive. 8 plus divers per guide. Yes!! 8 plus. There guides goal is to do a rapid dive profile ( I dove 14 dives and even spoke with the operations manager) get you back to the mooring pin give you the there is the boat sign and leave you to figure out what to do with the remaining 2500psi in your tank. I honestly have never swam so fast on a recreational dive where I wasn’t hunting for something. Forget seeing anything micro. I did enjoy seeing the sharks, but let’s get real any competent diver should be able to recognize those. The boats are absolutely set up for diving. The nitrox is 32 to 33% The room we stayed in was great. Self contained kitchen. Comfortable bed. Hot shower. Air conditioning worked great. The restaurant eagle rays was poor! Unless you wanted a cold beer. Breakfast was included in our stay. Who doesn’t want a full tummy before going diving. Well if you have a cast iron stomach you may be able to choke down what they have. My recommendation would be to get stuff from the grocery store before you arrive. This review is absolutely honest, sincere. And incredibly respectful. If you absolutely love to dive and are curious to learn about environments and the incredible creatures that live in the Caymans you can probably find a better company to dive with. If you are just looking to breathe compressed air and go home just as ignorant about Grand Caymans underwater ecosystem as when you arrived this place is perfect for you.

The rooms are excellent clean and updated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The whole area is quite and relaxing. They have plenty of dive boats and they are clean and respectable. The staff tracks your equipment and ready for your dives. The traffic at the East end of the Island is not busy. Its an easy travel to visit other beaches and come back to your quite location

We stayed here for a week in order to finish our scuba dive certification and enjoy the reef on the east side of Grand Cayman. Check-in is through the dive shop and I should mention that there seems to be a little disconnect between the dive company who is at the hotel and the folks who actually manage/book the hotel. Even so, we were able to get all our questions answered and issues resolved. The condo itself was very clean but not brand new. All the appliances worked great and I was able to make some fabulous locally bought seafood dinners while we were there. Linens, bed and furniture were good and comfortable enough. We stayed in the absolute perfect condo on the bottom floor furthest to the side. We could walk out our patio to the beach where there were chairs and a hammock to relax in. The patio has a table and chairs also. The in-house dive company was excellent. The week we were there they experienced unusually rough ocean conditions so we had to change the site a few times, but they are very knowledgeable about each location and the captain personally checked the conditions by diving in before he/she let us get in the water. We saw quite a lot of wildlife and were thrilled to see a reef shark up close. We will definitely be back here to dive with this company even if we choose to stay somewhere else next time.
