Detailed Reviews
We went up over Easter for diving and stayed in Tutukaka Coast Motor Lodge, the location is just perfect..not too far away from Tutukaka dive shop and restaurant.
The downstairs studio is spacious and clean and its reasonable priced. Would definitely come back and stay here for next diving trip.

The motel room was spacious and immaculately clean. The kitchen facilities were great and the views very pretty. There is tv and a dvd player, though it would be a shame to be indoors where there is so much to do outside! It is a great location for exploring the area, minutes from Tutukaka and not far from the beautiful beaches at Matapouri and Sandy Bay. The fish and chip shop up the road isn't bad either.

Another first-class example of a Mew Zealand motel, supported in this case by a wonderful location with easy access to a huge range of outdoor services. Down the road is a "superette" which seems to sell anything you may want to cook and all the booze you may want to drink with it. The cooking faciloties in our room consisted of two electric rings and a microwave. A very big room with plenty of space for a large sofa and a table with four chairs, plus a queen size bed. A large bathroom and a shower with needle-like water pressure. Everything was immaculately clean.
The 'studio' rooms at the top (two floors up) may cause you some effort to get there, but it's worth it - the outlook of the Ngungururu sandspit and the tidal ebb and flow make this motel one of the best situated in New Zealand.
We have never experienced rudeness at this motel. Some delicate flowers may have trouble coping with South African directness, but it is not rudeness.
PS: The local club will be delighted to admit you for a drink/game of tennis/round of golf. A 5-minute drive will take you to Tutukaka, where you can hire a boat to catch that marlin.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst diving at Tutukaka. The owners here, Maurice and Sonia, were very welcoming and well informed- they had maps and all the local knowledge. There was good space to park the car. The studio was spotless and well equipped.
A fabulous place to stay right across from the beach and we can’t wait to go back there.

After having motelled our way around NZ, I can safely say this was the best presented and equipped motel. Clean, immaculately repainted, great shower with modern fittings, spacious and, unlike us if you are prepared to pay for the view, the view will be grand. If there is a downside it is the speed of traffic in the village. Don't let the kids or granddaddies wander on the road.

This motel was very nice and the hosts were friendly. The whole service at the lodge was perfect and we enjoyed our stay. Sonja and Maurice were generous and gave us good tips for sightseeing around Ngunguru.
We will come back again soon!

We stayed at the Tutukaka Coast Motor Lodge while on Holiday in Northland. I have got to say this is one of the best places I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The rooms were immaculate, both host and hostess were very hospitable and even arranged a Fishing trip from the nearby marina for My Family at a great rate. The ability to walk along the secluded beaches and bays from practically the doorstep was amazing!
Thanks for a great stay, We will definitely be back!
