We had our vacation in Samal Islands last Sept 8-9, 2011 and in this resort where we spend overnight. When we got there after 2 hours of land trip and boat ride, me and my friends were disappointed at first because it was low tide and we're expecting that the shore is beautiful. Since we already had our reservation there and there's no time for us to transfer to other resort, we decided to stay.
We reserved Tipay B, a beachfront room good for 4 pax, was awesome. There's a TV set, a personal fridge, toilet and bath, and 2 queen sized beds. 5 of us stayed in the room, we didnt ask for addl bed, instead we slept by joinining the 2 beds together.
The restaurant inside offers mouth-watering dishes. Their menu was superb. The food was delicious.
The next day, we snorkeled on the resort's dive sites. BELIEVE ME, IT WAS THE BEST SNORKEL I EXPERIENCED.
We got disappointed at first when we arrived but when the high tide comes, its paradise underwater...

It was our first time to go here in Punta del Sol, since my friend needs to unwind and relax so she booked online and was told that there were 2 available rooms non-aircon, since we are four of us only, we decided 2 persons on each room. So by getting there, it was okay we need to pay to the driver 50 pesos each, we went inside straight to the receptionist, later on the receptionist told us that there were no available rooms, only 1 room left. So we decided to have only 1 room, the four of us added one mattress, since the receptionist offered and we can't fit in one bed. After that, we went swimming and had our pictures, the sunset , the clouds and etc. By night, we were ready to sleep, we went to the receptionist, it was a different receptionist at night, so we asked for the mattress, and he/she didn't allowed us, we explained that the morning receptionist offered and agreed with us about the added mattress, the night receptionist told us that in their policy in a non-aircon room, added mattress was not allowed, me and my friends were furious but later on we decided to add money for the mattress, so no argument would happen. We ate dinner, it was an overpriced food, but we like the coffee shake. The added mattress was there already with the help of some people in their reception. Fast forward, by morning, the morning receptionist told the night receptionist that we didn't pay for the mattress and etc. In short, she lied to hide her fault, not taking responsibility for what she did to us last night. Punta del Sol is so far okay to unwind and relax, but what we experienced, we don't have any plans to go back. Good luck to those who will still go there.

Good thing we only stayed here overnight. It was devastating. No staff greeted/assisted us when we arrived. The rooms were filthy. The door is made of clear glass hence the room is exposed to anyone outside. It failed big time in terms of security. Aircondition is not working well. No soap/shampoo/towel. The beach shore is very disappointing.

We decided to experience Punta del sol since we read some positive comments from its reviews and beautiful pictures on its website, unfortunately when we get there, the place is so damn awful. I was expecting a white powdery sand, but gosh, sharp huge rocks and sea urchins ruined my expectation which is very dangerous when you slipped on it and if you have children. We waited for almost 4 hours for the high tide hoping that the waves can vanish all the sea urchins, but the scenario is still the same. Honestly in my entire life it was the first time I visited a resort that never tried to swim. It was a disappointing experience since it was the first time of some of my colleagues and friends to stepped in Samal Island, and worst experience came out to them.

Room/ Accommodation

AC were good but the linens are awful. It seems that they were just there to cover your body and for exposure only. Pity. The staffs are accommodating which is fine and good. Water from their faucets and tanks makes your hair dry. Awful Comfort room and sink. only two sockets for the dormitory type room. Imagine, dormitory but only have to sockets. If you need an extra sockets, you need to rent it first to their front desk which it costs 150.00 pesos. No telephone in each room to easily connect to their front desk.

Overall this resort needs improvement. I never experience fun and amazement, everything is common.

I was stressed in work so I asked my co-worker about some resorts she knows and recently she visited Punta Del Sol. So I decided to go and relax at Punta Del Sol, we came there early at 8 am, booked a room which was P 2,160 with breakfast (i wanted the 1,500 but the receptionist told us that it was not available) grilled our pork and fish (the grilling station is so messy and smelly, the trashes were everywhere and the flies are hovering just inches away from us), we were not allowed an early check in (i hope they would consider early check in specially that the room was available and it was so hot), for the food they have a good taste of food however the "pork sisig" should be called "onion sisig with pork on top" since the only thing I can feel that I am eating is the onion. The Water is good, the room is okay and there's only a limited number of customer which I like because I can really feel relaxed and at peace.

I stayed at Punto for six nights just after Christmas. Six nights is maybe a bit too much at this place but it was the only affordable place we could find online. It seems like many groups from Davao go there for one or two days. These groups can sometimes be a bit noise with a lot of videoke from early in the morning to late in the evening.

The staff was really helpful and sweet.

It seems like the resort used to do a lot of diving. I do not think that they do that anymore.

I DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Went here with my family to attend our family reunion. I already read negative reviews about this place so since its my cousins who facilitate all the bookings got no choice but when we get there , twas worst than I expected. We stayed at Dormitory type of rooms, air-conditioned ,has bathrrom but it sucks cus NO WATER AT ALL!!! Beach just fine but not really white beach as what they published in their website. Most of my cousins got bruises cus of rocky shores and even my lil daughter had cut in her foot cus of sharp stones. Poor customer service ,only few staff around and they're not being helpful. We went to their resto exactly 8 pm to order dinner for my kids but staff said its closed already and don't recieve order anymore, just so ridiculous!!! POOR MAINTENANCE ,DIRTY PLACE AND THERE'S EVEN BROKEN GLASSES ON THE SHORE!!! NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS PLACE ANYMORE!!! DON'T GO HERE SPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS WITH YOU , ITS NOT SAFE AT ALL FOR YOUNG KIDS...

We just took a day trip here, and ended up here after being turned away by Chema's. It's a simple place, no frills, and it was enough for us. They allowed us to swim on their nice quiet beach, and didn't mind our little family pet roaming the beach also. We are planning a trip back there soon. The best part for us was the serenity of the location.

We stayed in this resort for a few hours after our tour in Samal Island. We ordered fresh fruit shakes and sandwiches. The place is quiet and nice. It has several cottages for rent and a few rooms if you decide to stay overnight. It was budget friendly and the place is quiet. They don't have a swimming pool but they have a really nice beach area.

The place is a few minutes away from the port area and it's secluded. Food is okay and not that pricey.
