My cousin Marissa and I had lunch here yesterday. Since she’s from Manila, she was craving for authentic Batangas food so we ordered bulalo, which server Hannah said was good for 5 pax. What we loved about it was it wasn’t as fatty as expected, given the bone marrow, the serving was just right for two pax and it was delicious and piping hot. Best of all, they didn’t use vetsin coz according to the very accommodating Joyce, who is the general manager of this resort, says they’re after serving healthier options. The mango shake I ordered had the right amount of ice, which is to say not too much, and the sweetness was just right. And although the dining area wasn’t air conditioned, I didn’t find it as hot, unlike my cousin, who is used to dining in an air conditioned
room.

Our stay at this hotel was relaxing, exciting and something that we will always remember. The hotel manager Marco Lacson Santo really rose to the challenge of helping us deal with the eventual cancellation of the second half of our trip due to closing down of many parts of the Philippines in response to Covid 19. Our plans were dashed when domestic flights were being cancelled and the liveaboard we were supposed to go on was in jeopardy. Marco valiantly tried to negotiate with the company owners, however everything ended up shutting down.
I was also very impressed with the staff as I had a medical issue which resulted in them taking me to the emergency in town. Luckily it was nothing serious and when it came time to pay the clinic in cash, we did not have any, so the drivers stepped up to the plate and paid. We of course reimbursed the hotel for the cost (crazy cheap).
Aside from all that, everyone on the resort really catered to people's wishes. They switched their cuisine to traditional Filipino food instead of American style. Delicious. When people asked for certain beer that they did not have available, they sought it out locally and delivered. The wait staff were always looking to refill your glass with water, which in this climate is essential.
As this is a dive resort, their guides, captains, and everyone else associated with the company were awesome. They loved to find things for us to see and were patient while people took pics of the amazing critters. Our guide Bong, yes that is his name, was fabulous. Everyone else in our dive group also raved about their guides.
Our room was clean and we got used to the see through shower wall. The water temp went from nuclear to cold, with some adjustment. Our AC worked well.
The sunsets were beautiful and so was the view over the ocean.
The only suggestion I have, and I spoke to Marco about it, is to have snacks available during the day, especially since diving makes one ravenous when you return to the hotel. Cookies, crackers, fruit etc.
As it turns out we were the last group of guests before the resort closed down due to the pandemic. We hope that they will be able to get back up and running again. They deserve it.

I've stayed in a few resorts on the Anilao peninsula and so far I'd rate this the best.

Without exception all the staff are really friendly and go out of their way to be helpful and engaging.

The food they serve is very good but actually too much. We had to ask them to cut back a few times.

The layout of the resort is good and the main restaurant nice a airy. The photos on their website are what attracted me to the resort but the rooms are probably not as attractive as the pictures show. They're slightly tired but that said, still better than the other places I've stayed in the area.

If I had one criticism it would be that they never serviced the room while I was there. I'm not worried about changing the towels or sheets but it would have been nice to have had the bed tidied up and the water replenished. That said, I'm sure if I'd have asked they would have gladly done it.

Their dive operation is well run and to a high standard. The team are very helpful.

And one other thing - no steep walk up and down the hillside to get from the car park to the resort.

Will definitely be back.

Understanding that the quality of the food and other things may be impacted by the pandemic and restart, there has been no adjustment to the price of stay. This high price point makes it hard to forgive the run down rooms and dive shop, mediocre food, and inconsiderate guests. At every meal, breakfast lunch and dinner, guests brought their dogs, who were incessantly barking at one another. It was so loud, you couldn't hear your dining companions talk. Made every meal so unpleasant. Its not a problem to be a dog friendly hotel; owners should be more considerate of other guests if thier dogs are barking nonstop during meals.

Other hotels that haven't yet hired back their chefs, or haven't opened up all their facilities, usually adjust their prices - no adjustment here makes all the faults even more annoying.

The hotel looks amazing in photos, but our room itself was just okay, a bit run down.

There are much nicer hotels in the immediate area that have much nicer rooms, better food, better dive facilities.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, unless you want to pay for 5 star stay, and only get 2.

Dear Christina, We appologize for your negative experience with us during the height of the pandemic. All your complaints and previous ones have been taken into advisement and we have spent the better part of the past few months doing maintenance to our rooms in preparation for reopening. As for lowering our prices... we did have a special covid19 price during all of 2021. As with the pets, we are taking it into consideration on how we can make it a better experience for everyone. Enjoy your future stays in Anilao Warm Regards,

Firstly my son and I enjoyed our stay. While the resort is about 20km from Taal volcano the area is safe. Staff were really lovely without exception.
I would say the price is about USD 50 too high per night assuming you’re paying about USD 150 per night. I do think a lot of Philippine hotels will really disappoint in terms of food, decor or facilities and I don’t believe this resort does. So perhaps it’s worth the 5* price although I would consider this a 3* or 4* resort.
Food was genuinely good and given there were only a few rooms occupied, because of the ongoing volcanic eruptions, most dishes were available.
Dive master provided a great introductory lesson for my son & prices for diving and jetski were reasonable for a tourist destination.
At night it’s a very peaceful resort and the room was fine, just a little small for the price.
Breakfast was pretty good and they’ll do whatever you ask within reason and based on available ingredients. Don’t expect a big buffet but you can easily eat enough to get through to dinner.
The wifi was down which was disappointing but they provided a small discount, as I had to use my roaming dataplan for work and personal communications.
I believe this is probably the best option in the locality so maybe accept the slightly higher than normal price for a Mabini dive resort.
Thanks to genuinely lovely staff for making our stay such a pleasure.

Our group of divers checked in 3/9/20 for a week of diving before heading to Tubbataha. We did NOT make it to Tubbataha due to covid-19.
The diving and dive guides are some of the best anywhere I've been. Saw things I'd only read about in my 25+ years of diving. The resort is beautiful, rooms spacious and everything worked well. The food PHENOMENAL especially after we requested local foods on the menu not Americanized food :) When news came down we wouldn't be able to go to Tubbataha the staff worked tirelessly to help us work things out.
I would go back in a heart beat! Highly recommend it.

There were lots to choose from in this area. There were no recent review do to COVID. So we went on advice of a friend. The room was very clean and spacious. The dive and resort staff was outstanding. The food was good and they offered a variety for each meal. The diving was fantastic. Not much to do if you don't dive.

This trip was for my second year anniversary with my boyfriend and it was recommended by a diver. We were supposed to stay here for two nights. I had really high expectations because the room rates were quite pricey. The place looked nice, the rooms had a nice balcony but we haven't stayed for even an hour and I already wanted to leave. Here were the reasons:

- The room looked nice at first, until I realized that the TV was not connected to the outlet because the cord was too short. I had to ask the reception twice to fix it, but no one came. I then accidently dialled housekeeping and in about 2 minutes, someone was fixing the TV. I also realized that the side tables did not have drawers and the dresser's drawers had plastic cable organizers in them. So in short, for the price, I kinda expected that the room would be at least fixed when we got there.

- It was around 3:30PM and I was really hungry coz I skipped lunch. I asked for the menu for room service. The guy in the phone asked me what I wanted to eat, which I thought at first was weird. So I asked if I can have the menu so I can choose. Later on, I got a knock on the door and someone handed me a piece of torn notebook paper, and handwritten it said "Tonkatsu.... Roast Chicken... Buttered Vegetables... etc etc" with no price. I was laughing at this point because I can't believe this place does not even have a menu for room service. So thinking that the restaurant would have a menu of some sort, we decided to go there. And on to the next bullet point...

- At the restaurant, the waiter said they don't have an ala carte menu. So I then asked what exactly do they have. The waiter then enumerated the same items that were on the torn piece of paper given to me back in the room. So fine, I was hungry, so I asked for the roasted chicken and rice. While waiting for my food, my boyfriend and I were discussing that they probably don't have a menu because they normally have buffet lunch and dinner -- but still! How come they are not prepared to serve something in between meals or in small portions?! So later my plate came with a piece of roasted chicken and a cup of rice. It was cold, I didn't complain anymore coz I was hungry but I figured I was eating leftover stuff from the lunch buffet. Come dinner time, my boyfriend wanted to have dinner but didn't prefer the buffet (I forgot what was in it -- probably because the items were forgettable). So we dared and asked for a menu once again. Finally, they actually gave us one! Since I had a late lunch, I only had fries and a soda, while my boyfriend ordered a beef dish. I haven't paid for the late (leftover) lunch I had but I asked them to charge it to the room. One of the waitresses then approached me and asked me to sign for the roast chicken plate -- which they charged me 450php, the same price of the lunch buffet!!!! I. LOST. IT. How can they charge me for the buffet lunch when they only gave me LEFTOVERS!? And I specifically said I was looking for ala carte at the time too, again why was I being charged with the buffet?! I told the waitress that that was unacceptable and I'm not paying for it if they will be charging me the buffet rate.

I was soooooo disappointed with my stay here. I think they can do so much more in terms of service. We originally planned to stay here for 2 nights, but I told me boyfriend I don't want to stay there anymore so we moved to another resort the next morning. The place seems to be very new and it also seemed like they opened the place ahead of completion -- which explains the drawer-less side tables. There were also some construction work going on which was a bit of an eye sore especially since they were located near the entrance of our rooms. Overall, quite a disappointing stay. :-(

No questions about the place but the food was bad. Yes, it was buffet. It was poorly presented. The waiters/servers don't proactively refill empty chafing dish/es. The food was served cold except for the soup, over cooked fish and dry beef curry.

I probably won't recommend this place to my friends.

Taal volcano is active now. And the level-4 warning is being issued by the government of the Philippines. There are lot of ash deposits around the places near to taal volcano. Please consider this fact before any body plans to travel to a place near to Taal. You may also like to the facebook page " Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST)" for more and accurate & authentic informations on the current volcanic conditions in the Philippines. But as per my views "aiyanar beach & dive resort" is in the south of Taal volcano. would be clean and nice to visit now.
