Bed and Breakfast inn is a best description of Paradores. Located in the heritage town of Taal, this quaint inn boasts of its staff. Yes, they are the gems of this establishment. Hats off to Ms Suzette, Arleth, Jersa and the whole F and B staff..worth mentioning is our pool guy..so sorry we forgot his name. Nice pool, nice room (we got room 10 which has a loft), nice decorations, beautiful garden, outdoor dining and walking distance to everything. For a calm weekend get away, this is a best option. The silver is awarded to Paradores del Castillo.

My friends and I decided to book a hotel in Batangas as a last minute getaway and Paradores del Castillo is one of the few affordable choices left. We honestly didn’t expect it to be a remarkable hotel but it proved us wrong. It has exceeded our expectations! Affordable stay and yet, we experienced a top notch service. From the very accommodating and welcoming staff, good food, beautiful view of the pool and garden, and peaceful area. Everything that you need if you wish to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The place was truly like little Vigan, vintage beauty with a touch of modern which is the pool area. They also have their own restaurant (Cucina De Jardin) that offers quality food and amazing service. Very recommendable! It was a memorable stay so we’re definitely going back! 🥰

The Best hotel to stay here in Taal, I’m from Canada but I was born in the Philippines and taal is my hometown and I always see this hotel and wondered what it would feel like to stay in that hotel. The staff are best in doing their work, rooms have a historic feeling but still feels modern, the restaurant has such great foods, the pool with a beautiful view of the garden. That’s all i wanted to say it’s a great hotel

Painstaking attention to detail is put into Paradores del Castillo to help transport guests to a time when the Ilustrados’ thoughts turned to something far more important than themselves. Its terrific pasta & halo-halo are timeless though.
Don Juan Boodle House is a can’t-miss foodie destination in a surprising locale. Get ready to fight for delicious sinaing na tulingan, adobong dilaw & crispy tawilis.
And in a nod to Spain, the paella, chipirones & gambas at Cuchara y Tenedor were superb.
To complete the trip, one should drop in at Taal Tees Souvenir Shop.
All these are a convenient walk from Paradores. Like its accommodation costs, food & item prices at said places were reasonable.
The owner’s passion to keep alive the family heritage & promote Taal’s rich history & culture makes the whole experience possible.
Impressive also are the staff who take pride in what they do. Special mention to Manager Suzette & Tour Host Jersa whom my kids loved.

It was amazing to see how quickly the hotel managed to kick back after the Taal volcano eruption. One does not feel at all the village must have looked like a ghost town only a few weeks back.
Rooms are superb and staff was very friendly and accommodating.

This is a charming property, vintage furniture with modern amenities. Staff are attentive and courteous - although our experience was one of total staff inefficiency.

We liked the style and ambiance created by restoring this old property just 3 years ago. The rooms and common areas are given antique detailed touches. This is all good.

Where the property lets itself down badly is in the modern amenities which you assume would be present and of good quality.

The towels in the room are not white, more of a grey colour and they feel old and used.

Our main complaint was that we had no hot water in our room. We went to shower after dinner to find that it was completely cold. Same the following morning. We called reception and were visited in our room by the hotel guard (yes there's no-one present at night other than a guard). He had no idea of what to do, he only offered us a ridiculous solution which showed he had no knowledge of how the shower worked.

The letter you are given as you leave gives contact details of the hotel manager and asks you to contact them with feedback. We did and they have yet to reply, some 2 days later.

The reception staff seem more preoccupied with their set procedures rather than pro-actively trying to solve guest's problems.

If you can bear the vintage amenities to go with the ambiance you will love this place. Otherwise beware.

Dear Mr. Mark, We thank you for your comments regarding our towels and rest assured that management is now investigating the issue. Regarding the hot water issue, we would like to clarify your statements: The night that you called our front desk regarding the shower, our night personnel (also our hotel guard; nothing wrong with that :)) attended to your concern. According to him, he tried to explain to you to turn the shower lever to the right side, but it seems like you found it in your own words “a ridiculous solution” as you did not want him to enter. The following morning, you spoke with our front desk to report the problem and she wanted to send our Maintenance Engineer to your room but you said to send him after your breakfast. She ASSUMED that after your breakfast, you were going to call her so that we can send our Maintenance Engineer. She was surprised that the next time she saw you, you were ready to check out. You berated her for her ineffectiveness but out of respect, she did not argue anymore. Immediately after you checked out, we went to your room and there was indeed hot water. You may have to wait for 45 seconds for the water to heat up. Our staff are not preoccupied with set procedures, as you claim. If we were preoccupied with set procedures, we would not have allowed you to check in early to our hotel (at 9:00 AM) for FREE. This was done for the convenience of you, our guest, and against company policy. FYI, you are one of the rare guests who has complaints about our staff (check our reviews in Social Media) but we will still examine your claims, as we believe in the old adage, “Customer is always right.” We believe that we did our best to try to fix the concern but we also believe that we need our guests’ cooperation and understanding during this kind of situation. Sincerely, The Paradores Team

Am typically an appreciative person and very considerate, knowing also that i checked in B&B. However , i just feel guests should know what genuinely to expect in this place when one books:

The good things first:
1. very nice attitude of staff (Batangueno rocks)
2. good ambience of reception of the main lobby

My terrible experience (i was in annex room)
1. Generator didnt not work. Imagine us in scorching heat for almost an hour
2. Not pure white towels, must be with the water they washed their towels with
3. No refrigerator so no cold water
4. Very cramp small room its like you are renting a mini stock room with decor frames inside
5. Mosquito and leech haven area
6. You are at disposal of fortune. If they happen to lock the gate which has access to your room, which they often do, you will have to walk to the main lobby (which is houses away from annex) to let them know and for them to let u in. So this happened to us when we went home a little late.

If you ask me they shouldnt have allowed booking in this annex room. It is not worth the money.

I am definitely not coming back here.

Response from paradoresdetaal, Owner at Paradores Del Castillo
Responded Aug 22, 2017
Dear Jhetjo, When our review ratings are consistently high in Trip Advisor and other social media, it is a constant challenge for us to live up to the “high expectations” of our guests. We are just a humble “bed and breakfast”, not a four-star hotel. Some of our guests expect, or even demand from us amenities of a four-star hotel. Please note that the rates that we charge are BNB rates, not even 2-star hotel rates. I believe you cannot expect to have Mercedes Benz qualities for Toyota prices. In the two and a half years that we have been open, we have accepted all criticisms as constructive. However, I believe that your review is one-sided and unfair for the following reasons: 1. There was indeed an unannounced brown-out in the whole of Taal that started last Sunday at about 6:25a.m. but our generator was turned on at 7:10 a.m. How can there be ‘’scorching heat’’ as you claim at this early hour? Our generator was working but the switch was inadvertently left OFF by the caretaker, who went to the market. We resolved the problem as fast as we could. Sorry, but our staff are just human and prone to make mistakes just like you and me. The important thing is that we resolved the problem. 2. Our laundry is done by a professional cleaning company, meticulously chosen for their service and who does the laundry for all major hotels and hospitals in our area. Paradores started its operation just over two and a half years ago. Our towels are imported from the USA and 100% cotton so we feel that our towels are still fresh. We cannot assure ‘’pure white towels’’ for all our guests but very decent, plush towels are provided by us. Only brand new towels will have a pure white color! 3. We never advertised that we have a ref in our rooms. Your room was adjacent to the main kitchen of the ancestral house. You spoke to our caretaker who was awake until 11pm (I was there) so if you really wanted cold water, you could have easily requested him for ice or a pitcher of cold water. 4. Again, we are not a 4-star hotel but a humble bed and breakfast. We offer the experience of living in a heritage house, which may have rooms that are not really that big. Our lowest priced room is average in size (like the one you stayed in) but to say that it is like a “mini stock room’’ is very subjective. As many as 3 adults have previously stayed in that room with no complaints about its size. 5. You chose to spend your weekend in the province, in a small heritage town. There will be always mosquitoes, pests and insects in the province. It rained hard that evening so leeches unexpectedly appeared. However, this was outside your room and in the garden. This is the charm of rural life; which majority of our guests appreciates as they truly experience nature. Prior to check-in, we try to ensure that there are no mosquitoes in all our rooms. There MIGHT have been a minimal amount of mosquitoes left but certainly it’s NOT a “mosquitoes and haven” as you have describe. 6. The main gate of the ancestral house is always locked for the safety of all. Upon check-in, you were given a key to the service door of the main gate. Our front desk receptionist confirmed this and she explained to you and your friend how the system works. Why did you not use this key to open the gate? The main lobby is not "houses away from the annex’" but only "two" houses away, only about 80 meters not even a one minute walk. Is it a problem to walk such a short distance? In the province, we do enjoy leisurely walks. I was in the main house when you left as I even waved goodbye to you and your friend. If you really had legitimate concerns, you should have spoken to me. I thank you for voicing your concerns but it is unfair to attack us in social media when our paths crossed two times. (we also said hello to each other) during breakfast. As the owner, I sincerely believe that your concerns are exaggerated! The quality of our facilities and services are certainly worth every peso you paid. Very truly yours, The Owner

Arrived 8.30pm tired and hungry. Bar not open as advertised and kitchen closed also.
Building and room charming, as were staff.
Breakfast delicious and delightful to have sitting in the garden.
Unfortunately the water pressure in the shower was lamentably low.

While the Taal Basilica was good to visit, and felt very special, Taal itself is not really prepared for tourism. Almost everywhere was closed (Monday) and we experienced a couple of very unpleasant female hawkers on the steps down to the Casasay Church. We were also hassled briefly by some youths following behind us along another street who were calling out offensive English phrases.
I have never experienced anything like this in the Philippines before and I have visited a number of locations over the past 11 years: I will not be returning to Taal.

Dear Valued Guest, We thank you for your comments on our Bed and Breakfast in Taal. However we would like to clarify that we have never claimed in Agoda that our restaurant is open until late in the evening. Because of your invaluable comments, we have extended our restaurant and bar hours until 9pm during weekdays and 10pm during weekend nights (Friday and Saturday). We used to close our F&B operations at 8:00 P.M on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 ; hence, we were already closed when you arrived. We also regret that you do not consider Taal as “not really prepared for tourism”. However, we believe that Taal is on the road already for preparedness. Vigan, Bohol and Davao started with small steps and it was only with the mistakes that they made that they were able to correct their problems. The day you visited was St John the Baptist day and it is a tradition in our town to get everybody wet, Hence, you might have construed the fun-making as rudeness. However, we sincerely apologize for your unfortunate experience and hope that other tourists will see and appreciate Taal in a different way. Best regards, June Manimtim Marketing Supervisor

Paradores Del Castillo is the Hidden Jewel in Taal. Such an Elegant B and B were Service and Comfort is a priority. It was a home from the past that was converted to this beautiful place with only 7 rooms. their garden which is perched on a hill has such an extraordinary view of Balayan Bay,Lemery and the Church. We would eat our breakfast on their very tall trees. At night there is a bar there complete with music too. The breakfast meals were delicious and the rooms are completely new with flat screen tv,cozy bedrooms and bath, air con and wifi. The place is very clean and the staff quite attentive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone b/c of its charm and location to the Basilica,Heritage homes and the market.

I think there is po. But it can be too pricey since it's 2-3 hours away from Manila. I suggest you just take the bus going to Taal Batangas instead of taking the cab. Try taking the cab from NAIA to Buendia bus terminals. You can ride the DLTB Bus or JAM. I think the bus fare costs less than 200 pesos.
