This is the first time we celebrated Valentine's day in a place we are not familiar with. My wife, my son and our cousins planned a road trip and staycation in Taal, Batangas, but we don't have any idea what to do there nor the place to stay. Then our cousin, reserved Casa Conchita. It is located beside the rural bank and a 3 minute walk in front of the Basilica.

When we arrived inside the place, we got the unusual feeling that we are very much welcome to stay, the music playing inside was so relaxing, you'll forget that you traveled a long distance to get there. We were entertained by Sir Ramon, he manages the house, I am not just sure if he is related to Ogie Alcasid, which by the way is the owner's grandson. The place is so cozy, the rooms are air conditioned, and it is located in the heart of the town. The church is a 3 minute walk from the house, wet market is about 5 minute walk, also some ancestral houses like Villa-Vicencio are also a walking distance from Casa Conchita.

Breakfast will be serve early in the morning, or just inform Sir Ramon when ever you like them to serve it. Us, we had Tapang taal, fried rice, sunny side up and brewed coffee.

We will definitely come back to this place, soon!

Taal is definitely a highlight in my Luzon roadtrip, living up to its reputation as a world class historical / pilgrimage site destination (easier to explore than Vigan, being more compact).
Casa Conchita is located near all the attractions - 2 churches, municipal hall, town plaza, tourism office, public market, beach, and is short walking distance to the commercial conveniences of Lemery.
Ramon and Dan are the warm and friendly hosts who have tastefully furnished the ancestral home with their fine collection of turn of the century furnitures, decors, and art work - a living museum.
The place is clean, spacious, and has the modern conveniences that make the stay pleasant and comfortable.
Not too often can one experience a visit to the past and Casa Conchita is highly recommended for this historical reawakening adventure.
I should know, I stayed at Casa Conchita for 24 wonderful days.

Hi. Thanks for the favourable comments though I have to say that we do not have hot water facilities. Its just that Taal has warm water from the source. Hope to see you again sometime.

We were in Taal for a wedding and decided to stay at Casa Conchita for its proximity to the Basilica. While being an ancestral house, the property exuded a very relaxed vibe with its well-kept amenities. Even the toilet was renovated for convenience. Sir Ramon and his caretakers were accommodating and made sure that we were comfortable, especially when they allowed us to leave at a later time. We noticed that most locals had a very calm demeanor, and that added to the town's old charm.

We had a delicious breakfast of Tapang Taal along the balcony with the early hustle-bustle of the city waking our senses. On the other hand, light sleepers and late risers might not enjoy the daytime noise from church bells and public transportation, as the house is located along the town's busiest thoroughfares. The bed is also due for updating as it tends to make creaking noises even while sitting down. We also noticed that we were not given a key to our room, so we trusted on the goodwill of the caretakers whenever we went out.

Other than those minor details, we would definitely recommend staying at Casa Conchita. Its ideal location near popular attractions (which were a short walk or tricycle ride away) and charming vibe make for a relaxing weekend down south.

My husband and I needed a nearby getaway from Manila to spend a few days and Casa Conchita was the perfect place to do it, only about 2 hours by bus. First of all, the B & B is in a lovely traditional house that is open, spacious and beautifully decorated with art and antiques the owners have collected from around the world. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted so warmly by Ramon, one of the owners, and told to make ourselves at home. Our double room was clean, tidy and very charming. And, the air-conditioning in our room was a bonus. There is a big living room and breezy veranda/ patio to enjoy. And...the wifi was better than we had in Makati, Manila!

The homemade breakfast is delicious and can vary a bit each day, upon request. Sitting at the big, wooden table in the dining area was a treat; everything had a homey touch, from the silverware to the cloth napkins. In the evenings, Ramon and Dan advised us to grab food at the nearby night market to bring back to the B & B so we could enjoy it in a comfortable setting...out on the veranda. The food there was inexpensive, tasty and clean, important for us foreigners!

Our hosts always took good care of us, providing ice water, bringing over fans where we lounged and engaging in interesting conversation about the Philippines. An added bonus is their extensive collection of historical prints depicting life in the Philippines. They are neatly displayed, like a museum, in their downstairs room, which leads out to another lovely outdoor sitting area.

Overall, we had a great stay in Taal Heritage City, much of it because of our wonderful B & B and friendly hosts at Casa Conchita.

Taal, Batangas is full of old houses, and so for an old house nut like me a weekend in Taal is always lovely. It's only 3 hours away from Metro Manila, and the drive is pleasant (take Batangas, not Tagaytay). The town itself is small enough so you can walk around from market to church to cute cafe with WIFI. In Taal the old houses have been turned into family museums or bed-and-breakfasts, each with its own set of charms. A favourite is Casa Conchita, just around the corner from the old Taal Basilica. The house, once a nipa hut, has transformed over the years into an elegant modern home circa the 1950s, painstakingly maintained by the current occupants, Randy and Dan. The house, which retains the name of family matriarch Conchita Alcasid (don't miss her fabulous pop art portrait on the terrace), is full of family photographs from Randy and Dan's families, interesting antiques from their trips, and a sizeable collection of vintage prints about the Philippines. The family room downstairs is cozy enough for large groups and the spacious garden allows for parking inside the house. Casa Conchita is located near the centre of town and is within walking distance to the market (full of amazing Taal embroidery) and the church, which is a site to see. Rates are reasonable and the food is unpretentious and home cooked. If you're planning a weekend in Taal--and you want a slice of gracious southern living--consider a stay at Casa Conchita and you will leave wanting to come back.

Dear Madame Ria. Thanks for the review on Casa Conchita. It was mentioned in it that the Casa is owned by Conchita Alcasid. Actually, Dona Conchita is a LUALHATI-DE LAS ALAS. She is the maternal grandmother of a famous Filipino songwriter/composer/actor/businessman, Ogie Alcasid. It was their family who gave the right to use their ancestral home for a B & B. Hope to see you again soon at Casa Conchita.

We booked the family room (on the ground floor) for our stay in Taal. We were able to park the car a couple of metres from the door, so it was easy for my wife, who has difficulty walking, to go inside...no steps or ramps. From the family room we could easily go to the dining room, again without obstacles. This guest house is very good for PWD. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and the staff could not have been more helpful. The breakfast menu was limited, but one day we had Pork Tapa with eggs and rice, and the next, a large Spanish omelette served with coffee (locally grown beans). Overall our stay for 2 nights was very good indeed and access for disabled could not have been better.

My partner and I frequent Taal because his father was born there. We both appreciate the quaintness of Taal and the wonderful heritage homes. With not many options for room accommodations we were thrilled to stumble upon Casa Conchita on our last visit in late August 2017.

Hosts Ramon and Dan were gracious and attended to our every need. They are supported by a very able staff who are willing to give assistance any time.

If you are looking for old world charm with all the amenities including lightning-fast wifi, air conditioned room and a delicious breakfast right in the heart of Taal, I could not recommend this establishment more.

Planning on a trip has been quiet easy but (for us) to push through with it is hard to do . That's why I (my husband found out about this on the day of our trip😄) decided to do last minute preparation by searching for a place to stay until I came to check on Casa Conchita a day before (thanks to tripadvisor 😉).

Upon checking on the reviews, I said to myself, Casa Conchita must be really good. I search and checked on the attached pictures and instantly, I said to myself, I will surprise my husband by spending our 16th Wedding Anniversary here. It's like home away from home😄

...pushing through with this out of town "wedding anniversary escapade - as I call it," everything was really worth it!

Dan was so accommodating and even the rest of the staff, they were all friendly.

If you're a typical "old soul," you will surely love this place😉
